No more hovering over the stove for hoursby HS747 (5 out of 5 stars)

Update 10/23/18: It's been a year since my purchase and I've used my Stirmate at least a hundred times (about 250-300 hours) . It is still runs perfectly. I've used it to make all sorts of sauces (Ragu, Bolognese, Velouté and Espagnole roux, bases for ice cream and gelato, custards, puddings, soups, and marmalade. Its very helpful at reducing water content, particularly when it needs to be done very slowly. It serves to gently scrap the bottom of the pot or sauce pan, and keep the mixture of whatever you are cooking well distributed. That being said, I found it works best with straight-sided flat bottom cookware. I've used it for reducing syrup for something like flan, but It would not work well with very viscous preparations like toffee, thick caramel or fudge. Overall, I'm very pleased.
Nov. 3, 2017: I just got the Stirmate and used it for the first time. It works amazingly well, seems very well constructed and from solid materials. The mechanism is surprising powerful, providing plenty of torque and for the hour or so I used it it didn't slow down at all. It's very quiet, but not silent. The actual stirrer is simple yet ingenious - essentially, it is on floating hinges (top and bottom) so it can self adjust to whatever size and shape pot you are using. No need to worry about the end of it hanging outside the pot - it won't get damaged by indirect heat.
The Stirmate runs on a 9volt battery, like those in a smoke detector. I've been watching this product for a couple of months, deciding whether or not to buy it. The first iteration of the Stirmate used a regular battery, then they offered an externally rechargeable battery, and this new version has an internally rechargeable battery. You can replace the rechargeable battery or use a regular battery if you've forgotten to charge it. I just love that, because lately many gadgets need to be discarded when the rechargeable battery wears out.
Shipping was fast. From California to New York City in just 2 days. It was shipped inside a paper envelope with some bubble wrap. The envelope arrived broken on one end and the stirrer stick was hanging out. Maybe I should take off a star for that but I suppose the fact there was no damage just speaks well of the build quality. Before ordering I wrote to the seller and they said the Stirmate is covered by a one year warrantee (excluding the battery).
I have already made the Greek style rice pudding recipe from the Stirmate.com website - I couldn't wait and ate some right away (delicious), but I'm sure it will be even better when it cools and firms up. Bottom line is that the Stirmate is worth the money, and certainly beats standing over a hot stove for hours stirring and stirring like some recipes require.
Works great!

I recently purchased a StirMate automatic pot stirrer and couldn't be happier with its performance. Finding the StirMate was very gratifying after fruitless searches in several specialty cookware stores such as Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma, and Sur La Table. Sales people in each store thought automatic pot stirring sounded very useful but regretted to say their stores didn't carry such a device. After several uses, about 15 minutes each time, the StirMate has not seemed to lose power or speed on just one battery charge. It has a substantial motor and mechanism, ingenious stirring wand that adjusts to about any size pot or pan, and rechargeable battery. None of these essential advantages was present in a lower-cost alternative I had bought previously online. The quality and functionality of StirMate make it well worth the purchase price.

I used this with a electric hot pot. With out the stirmate the pot would shut of in protection mode to to scorching, with the stirmate scorching never happened and my food consistently cooked to temperature. Using it for travel it is hard to stow the stirring wand but I was able to find a bag that just fit. So far so good!! Hoping the snug fit won't break anything.
A Stirrer That Actually Works!

I've owned another "as seen on TV" stirrer that's less than ten bucks. Don't bother. But the search continued--home cooks don't have a sous chef to do the stirring, and we have a lot of things to cook at once. Freeing us from one task so that we can do everything else better is a significant gain.
This stirrer has real muscle--the motor is geared down so that it stirs with real power. Yesterday I made risotto, and it stirred the whole thing for me. It just sat there on the pan for about a half hour, stirring away instead of my having to stir.
It's adjustable, will work with a variety of pot diameters and heights. It charges quickly, in an hour or two. I've had it stir constantly for an hour without slowing down, and I'm sure it will run a lot longer on a charge. But there's no reason why you can't charge while it's stirring, so if you put it away and it runs down you can still use it as long as you have an outlet within reach of your stovetop--or an extension cord.
It also is cleverly designed so that it effectively rubs the bottom the pan it's stirring and covers the whole thing. It does a quite thorough job of stirring. Maybe even better than I do!
It's quality construction. Everything is rugged, so it will last a long time. Good news is that the stirrer can go into the dishwasher--you want that, because, of course, it gets all involved with whatever you're stirring, and needs to be well cleaned. You clean the rest of it yourself, but it doesn't get messy and is easy enough too wipe off.
The size is manageable. It won't take up a huge amount of space. The only improvement that I'd want is a better box to store the three pieces and charger in, instead of the cardboard box it comes in. I reinforced that box with packaging tape, and use it to store the StirMATE, but it's actually about twice as big as it needs to be and is not super durable.
Finally, the price. For something as sturdily built and durable, I'd expect to pay more! It's great to see a quality cooking accessory with a price that's only two digits.
If you're looking for a gift for that foodie in your life, this could be the ideal choice. It's new and isn't sold in the cooking equipment stores, so your giftee won't know about it. And when you first see it, its purpose isn't clear. But when your giftee uses it, then you'll be remembered for giving the perfect gift. And its durability will have you remembered for that gift every time it takes over a tough stirring task.

I love this stirrer, I did a lot of research before buying this one, but eventually settled with it due to its build quality and strong motor, company is based in the USA. The unit is powerful and useful, let's me do other things with my brain than stir. My one recommendation would be to sell attachments, such as some expansions for the stirrer so that it can do wider and taller pots. Other than that I'm very impressed with this, very much worth my money, thank you

This StirMATE with it's separate upgrade are just what I never knew I needed, until a recent injury caused me to search for things to help prevent aggravating it.
I am a total klutz and nervous about new things until I've proven I can be successful, so I babysat it constantly, later in the milk scalding process for my method of yogurt making, adjusting the heat and so on. I heated it probably much lower than necessary, because no one wants milk to burn, and my pots prefer no higher than medium heat. Eventually I relaxed and put it closer to medium heat, because I figured out everything was going very well! After literally hours of watching, I decided next time I will compromise and probably go higher but still no higher than medium heat. I can't wait to try it again!
I love this, especially since I paired it with the upgrade, and the pair now shares a prominent large hook in my kitchen. The charger is also next to it on my shelves. This insures me access at a moment's notice and will probably get it attention from others. I love things that make life easier!!!!

Bought this for Christmas candy making after another year of a way too sore arm. Haven't used it yet for candy, but have used it for making jam and it worked quite well. I could go about other things in the kitchen, tidying up behind myself, while my pot stirred itself. I don't think it will have the power to stir my brittle after the nuts are added, but up to that point it is going to save me a LOT of energy.

So we recently had a baby and as you may know, oatmeal is always a requirement.. That beings said, I genuinely dislike hovering over a stove stirring oatmeal in order to avoid it getting lumpy. As a result we purchased the StirMate, and what a great decision that was...
Not only can it stir our oatmeal but works great with pasta sauces, soups, and just about anything that requires constant stirring. As an additional benefit, while the device stirs the food in one pot, you can multi task and attend other items on the stove (please refer to the video I've attached).
The device is sturdy, user friendly, and extremely pleasant to use... I've tried other automatic stirrers and none work as good as the StirMate.... They were returned....
I would highly recommend this item and one final point I would like to add; their customer service is great as well. My wife lost the patented stick it came with and the customer service team was extremely helpful and tentative. I was shipped a replacement right away and still use my StirMate to this day....
Stove top cooking made fun.

I love this devise. It will slave over the stove stirring your soups, sauces and candies all day without a complaint or tiring. Now I cook things that I enjoyed to serve and eat, but hated all that stirring. No more burnt pots and ruined recipes due to under sturring. It's a little costly, but once you use it, you will never be without. I may even buy another one to handle all of my stirring. This would make a perfect gift also.

Was very excited when I read that it would do toffees jams and jellies. Ordered it and tried it out the day it arrived. very disappointed in the product. The biggest flaw is that while yes it stirs, the paddles should be at an angle that will scrap the bottom of the pot. burn both attempts there is a space between the paddles and the bottom of the pan. would consider trying again if they fix this problem. Returned the product because it did not do what it said it would do. gave five stars because it is easy to set up one star because it failed.
