He's adorable but not sure if mine is defective
by R. Weikert (3 out of 5 stars)

Not sure if I received a pre-owned Chewie. The box practically fell apart when I opened it, and my Chewie was matted and sticky around his face as if he had hair glue applied. Unfortunately this product is hard to find on shelves so I can't compare to anything else. My husband thinks he's just supposed to look like a hot mess....

Heavy price tag for limited actions
by Blueorion (3 out of 5 stars)

Here is what you need to know. Is this cute? Yes, it is. Is this fun for a child? Yes, it is. Is that fun something that lasts? No, it does not.

The interactive Chewbacca toy is designed well, but it is very limited. He lifts his arms, he tilts his head, he opens and closes his mouth and eyes. These things are neat, but they are all repetitive. Chewbacca makes his signature Wookie roar, a lot. To "tickle" him, you have to fish around for the sensors. This is the same with all the activation sensors on the toy. The only one that is apparent is the one on the midsection of Chewbacca. Playing music for him, speaking to him, these things work if the child is in a completely quiet, echo-free room. Sans that, those functions won't work.

All in all, this is a toy that they put some work into designing, but the magic wears off quickly, making this a heavy, not very soft stuffed animal for $129.00.

Bought this for ME- an adult
by Muffin McFurry (5 out of 5 stars)

So I found this at Target the first day it came out in August. I had seen this product on videos earlier in the year when it was featured at the toy shows, and had been waiting for it to come out since. I'm a collector of various things, and thought this was a unique toy/collectible to have. (Note: I really like the Star Wars movies, but I'm not a hardcore Star Wars fan.)

It is pretty neat to interact with, and I'm very impressed with the lifelike movements and sounds. I've shown it to other adults who happen to be Star Wars fans, and they loved it! I don't have any kids, but I imagine this would be just as appealing to kids as it is to adults. In terms of Star Wars products, this is a top 5 in terms of best collectible.

As for the review with the low rating that mentioned the sticky fur, the reviewer failed to read the instruction booklet it came with. It mentions that Chewie's hair has gel to purposely give it that authentic Chewie look, but that it can be brushed out if preferred.

disappointing for mom and kid
by Masha (2 out of 5 stars)

This was just an huge disappointment. I read about the hair coming with gel in it - but this isnt gel, this is GLUE. there is no way to brush it out. I, the mom, have wasted HOURS, carefully combing and gently brushing chewie so that my 4 year old could enjoy the toy, but alas, its still standing up, just as stiff as Mary's hair in that unforgettable scene.

The noises and movements, as others have said are virtual indistinguishable from one another, but he does wookie and move. so that' nice.

I really wish there was a "my kid is gonna play with this toy" option, which came without the hair gel, as it claims that its 4+ toy, but i dont see it as being very enjoyable for a kid to play with a matted, crunchy toy, where they see that the fur should be soft and fuzzy, and keep asking me to brush it more. hours. ive wasted hours of my life brushing chewy.

also, my husband freaked out at a stray chewy fuzz ball, because we do not have any furry pets and he thought the giant fuzzball was a mouse blowing across the wood floor.

Scary cool
by Tom F (5 out of 5 stars)

This is so good it's actually scary. Our daughter loves it, she actually sleeps with it. She thinks it's so awesome that he snores when you put him down. He also replies if you use his name which is awesome. His facial movements make you feel like he's talking to you, which is kind of creepy. The only thing I can compare the way it talks to is that Dinosaur in the Natural Museum of History in London, just much smaller and less scary. Finally, I am forever grateful for the off switch. Thank you for giving this toy an off switch so I don't just have to pray he stops.

Eh? It's okay....

Meh. I'm giving 3 stars for the product creators.

Cute concept and design- but left the kids and I severely underwhelmed. He isn't that loud and his movements and reactions are okay. My dogs really like him and will probably turn him into a very expensive dog toy. Make sure to fine the Velcro opening seam along back-and change out the factory batteries. You also need to turn him to "on".

Also, This is my second one because the touch points werent working...

Worth 4 stars at the price I paid
by BVE (4 out of 5 stars)

This Chewy is awesome for kids but comes at a steep price. I got it on sale for 45 bucks and even then I'd say the price is a little high. Please don't drop more than 50 dollars on this toy. He doesn't make but a couple sounds and I feel like the marketing on how much he actually does/says is over blown. It's like saying there's 120 different combinations to arrange the same 5 books. Technically, yes, you can arrange those books in a 120 different ways but it's still the same 5 books over and over, just in a different order. That's how I feel about the features of this toy.

That being said, it's freaking Chewy, he makes Chewy sounds and my 3 year old freaking loves it. Worth it from that perspective.
