Awesome - The packaging is also really great.

Got it right before heading to work!... thanks Amazon!

Just like the demo. If you liked it - Get the game. You also get to transform the DEMO save over - so you do not loose the time. Looks great on Switch. The first area after the demo is open field with lots of colors. Still early on - but already love it, especially on my 2hr commute.

Comes with a card that tells you how to get the Japanese Voice Pack from the eShop. The metal sleeve feels great and mine had no problem sliding the game case in or out (it is also double sided)... they did a great job on Packaging.

A Fun Fairytale

When I saw Sega's live stream I

was intrigued by the fact these warriors use weapons

that are also instruments.

Pros. The story starts off slow but it gets better.

I laughed a lot during some skits.

The art is lovely. Go into the gallery and look at the "figurines"

The town looks like it could actually exist.

The graphics. Nice and clean.

The vice acting. There is Japanese and English.

Both casts are equally good in my opinion.

The music. It's a good mixture of instrumental and

J-Pop. Just a word of warning. The songs are not in English. More on that later.

Multiple save files! If you want to experience Original and ReFrain

modes on different saves, you can! Wanna share the game with a Sib or BFF?

You can do have that too.

The game play. If you like the Tales Of series or the Ateier series then try this game.

The combat is in real-time. There is some dating sim/slice of life stuff. Oh and there's some

gathering and item synthesis too.

This game was released worldwide on different platforms.

No excuse on missing out unless you don't own one of the following

Nintendo Switch, PS 4, X Box One, PC.

If you want to play portable then the Switch is your only option unless you have a gaming laptop.
Did I mention this is actually a remaster of a PS3 game that was only released in Japan?

And all of the DLC is already included?

HURRAY!!

The packaging. I got the American/Japanese Draconic

Launch edition. It comes with a steel book case and slip cover.

The difference between the American/Japanese and the European version is

that theirs comes with a cardboard slip cover. Ours has a plastic slip cover.

The meh.

I don't mind the songs being in Japanese I just wish Sega would have provided us

non Japanese speakers with translated lyric book. I noticed that

not all of the songs have translated captions on screen.

The con.

How come the girls got more DLC costumes then the guys?

The girls got 3 sets of swim suits each. Idol costumes.

And sailor style uniforms (school uniforms that look like old sailor uniforms.)

The guys only get idol costumes. Lol I kept Yuma

in his idol costume because it suited certain situations better then his default clothes.

A nice JPRG and great adition on Nintendo Switch

First, Shining Resonance Refrain was not in my plans, but then I tried the demo and loved it. In fact, I was so wrong on skipping this awesome JRPG, it is just perfect and I love the characters.

Maybe I will also buy the re-print of Rinna's figure that will be out in Japan on November. I became a huge fan of this game thanks to the hours I have spent on it.

Just A solid, good action/rpg game.

Games like this remind me of the days when Sega was a giant in this industry. This is an action/rpg like the Ys series of games from Falcom. All the usual tropes of the genre are here. But to have this previously Japan-only game playable on the Switch is cool.

Old school RPG

Really pretty game; won't win any award for mindblowing graphics or storytelling, but it is enjoyable.

It is a remastered version of a PS3 game, so graphics are not super, but are serviceable. Once you start playing, you will forget about the graphics. The nice thing is that all DLC are included, so you get all the costumes and extras.

Some costumes are quite "indecent"; so keep that in mind if you play with your kids. They are optional though; so if you don't want to use them, you don't have to.

Game is fun, and decently long (40-60 hours); based on how fast you want to complete it, you may get more or less time; depends from you.

Its a RPG long hours but it's worth it.

I do not have any dislikes about this game. It's very beautiful with the environments. It's in English which it blew my mind not many games from Japan or china that have English dubbed meaning voice actors helped with this title. The game is amazing it's a really awesome game it's a Role playing game. I love the game I wish I would have gotten it sooner. It's also on the Xbox one and PlayStation 4 consoles. So either way it's a good but as well as good entertainment for anyone to enjoy watch the video. I do not own the music or any other copy righted software. please watch and decide for your self I did.

I've been anxiously awaiting this release and it has finally arrived.

The tin game case is absolutely beautiful. I'm not sure what the 3/5 reviewer is talking about as my game case can be opened and shut perfectly fine.

An OK JRPG

Shining Resonance Refrain review

First of all the product itself. The launch edition has a really cool metal slipcase probably the only one of it's kind. We have had metal steelbooks sure but not a metal slipcase. Really cool. There is also a free japanese voice pack in the E-Shop you can download.

Story - Pretty generic honestly, like PS2 Era JRPG storytelling. Have an evil kingdom who is doing evil stuff against the good kingdom... Insert main character here.... He goes on an adventure to save the kingdom from evil kingdom and bam there is your story. The lore is pretty intresting but the story itself just holds it back. It never gets into that level of final fantasy or tales games story telling.

Gameplay - Plays out like a tales game, you can turn into a dragon! Which is awsome. There is like a FF7 materia system going on there for your wepons. No fast travel unfourtuntly, but not that bad as the maps themselfs are easy to run across. There is a random dungeon you can do for grinding. There are side quests but all those are is the basic "Kill this" or "Collect this" and thats it, nothing more meaningful than that. I guess the best part of the game is that you can date all the girls and you won't get punished for it. For those who are confused by original mode and refrain mode... Basically original mode is just the original story while in refrian mode you get 2 playable characters that are like villian characters.... Thats about it. So I just went with refrian mode to date the evil chick.

Sound - Pretty good since one of the focuses of the game is about music, since all your party members items are actually instruments. So at least for sound is 5 out of 5

Graphics - It's like in between PS2-PS3 era anime style graphics. Not that bad seeing as it was a PS3 port from japan only.

Conclusion - It's worth getting if only go play once, it's only like 49.99 anyways not even full priced. For a PS3 port it's pretty decent, at least until we get octopath traveler soon and that tales remaster for the switch.

I was really enjoying it at first, but it gets repetitive.
by Mitch Mckillip (3 out of 5 stars)
August 19, 2019

At first this game seems solid, with a great fighting system and a story that while very typical JRPG, was enough to keep your interest. After awhile you just find you're walking the same areas over and over to get anywhere, and the sidequests get repetitive. Skip it, there are plenty of better RPGs on the Switch.

Gran Version
by Maria Idolia De Souza (5 out of 5 stars)
June 27, 2019

Recomendado!
