Broke on first deployment in zero wind conditions.

Broke on the very first deployment in zero wind condition. Does not seem to be able to be deployed via 1 person like competitor offerings. Hinges snapped under its own weight before the support legs were down. Need a second person to support the weight while deploying.

I love this awning. I have it installed on my truck and it works fine. What I have noticed is that the cover is not waterproof and as a result the awning gets wet inside after a heavy rain. Not sure what to do about that though. The other thing I had happen was one of the poles slipped apart. It would be great if they were a bit more steady and had a push button release vs the detents that can easily become unserviceable. I ended up having to use some duct tape to keep it up. Update August 2018 So I've been using this awning for a few months. Going out to Daytona Beach every other week. They are we are allowed to drive on the beach. I have had to replace the bushings twice due to wind gusts snapping the poles. If you live in a windy environment you have to take due caution to make sure the canopy is well secure or you will simply lose it over the roof of your vehicle and it will break apart. I will leave my rating at 4 stars with the caveat that it works fine when the weathers fine. Don't deploy in breezy conditions.

Product is so nice however it is NOT HEAVY DUTY AT ALL, I just used it once, due to mild wind I broke two hinges and bended one leg (with I have not find a replacement), I ended deployment my 30usd Academy canopy with no issues. Also just noted that the bag is NOT waterproof so if it rains heavy water will get into the bag, the end part of my bag its ragged, where it touches the hinges due to how tight it was packed. Worst thing is that this was shipped with USPS, guess what! USPS trucks cannot fit this for delivery, so I had to pick it up 3 days after the supposed delivery date, as USPS did not provided feedback on the shipping exception. Why would you make your customer go thru that, if you carrier cannot deliver final mile. This should be advice since the beginning. Overall the design looked perfect, I guess its great if you are replaying with NO wind at all.

Friends have had the original and I think they have done a great job addessing previous issues. In no particular order the poles are now integrated into the canopy vs separate, the pole feet nicely accommodate the stakes, all components fit nicely with the canopy no separate parts to store. The canopy material seems durable. The channel and mounts are nice. The improved stake out configuration is less cluttered than the previous. Very nice product at this price point. Sheds the rain well and did well with 20 mph wind gust and rain.

Fits on my Leitner Designs ACS rack on a F150 and provides great shade for the side of the truck and tailgate. I still have not gotten the hang of extending this solo but it is easy with a friend. Buy more of these: RRCA1175. It comes with two but you will break them if you fail to fully secure the awning in the wind.

VELCRO STRAPS TORN AT SEAM

Unfortunately my Batwing came with Minor tears on the exterior case (May have been due to shipping). As well as 2 torn Velcro straps at the seams, which are used to stow/retain the awning. Quite disappointed, as I have many Rhino Rack Products which are of high quality. I guess this one just slipped past inspection. -Lawrence

This awning is awesome for that extra "under cover" space when camping. I got the left hand and 3 sides. Really covers a lot of space and is easy to install, setup and tear down. I had a problem with two of the poles locking after some use, but Rhino Rack immediately replaced all of the poles with what appear to be poles with upgraded locks. Great customer service from them.
