The packaging on this was intended to look nice but it was not. There was a mishaped piece of foam folded over the ball in a tattered fake satin case. There are also weird stars in the display that are disproportionately large to the solar system. Anyway, other than that it was fine and the recipient loved it.

This is a nice heavy piece of glass. The Galaxy inside is very pretty, albeit rather plain and lacking a needed pop of something. It reminds of of black and white grainy photos of galaxies taken in the 70's. It will need to be near a light source to be seen. It's not a standout piece of art, but it neutrally blends in on a shelf. I do like it though.

I bought two of these for gifts on father's day and the recipients loved them. The stand is a nice touch, and the planet shows up well in most lighting. A very nice gift for a gentleman or astronomy buff.

Horrible for gifting, unless you don't mind repacking yourself. The outer gift box was torn and didn't shut properly, despite reasonable outer rapping, inside the "gift box" the cheesy foam padding was shredded and hideous, AND there were a few flaws visible in the base glass!! The only reason I'm not sending it back is it can MAKE DO for my purpose.
