more fiber than soil
by Robert M. Odom (1 out of 5 stars)

At first I was very impressed with the expansion of the disk, created enough fiber/soil for about 10 small pots. Had no problem with germination and sprouting, but after that not much growth, not even with plant food. I think the problem is , once expanded the fiber/soil never develops any density like real soil, I think it's mostly fiber, It might work better if it was mixed with real soil. I'm no expert, I could be wrong, just my opinion.

Surprisingly effective

Didn't want to buy a whole bag of potting soil for a couple of small plants. Tried this and was happy with how easy it was to use.

To fill a six inch pot I used two and it was too much. Now I know how much it yields. It's dark and rich looking soil. I did add a sprinkle of fertilizer. Hold moisture well. Very pleased with product.

Compact way to get and store growing medium
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)

The material readily fluffed up nicely when exposed to water. It holds a lot of moisture before it gets at all "soggy" feeling. I assembled one of those janky "rotisserie chicken greenhouse" seed starters, using this as the growing medium, and so far my seedlings seem quite happy in it. Plus, I don't have a GIANT bag of leftover soil I need to store - just a small baggie of neat little dry pellets. No spraying bits of dirt all over the floor as I assemble containers for indoor gardening in my kitchen - just put the pellets where they need to fluff and add water. Loving it!

Works great!

Trying different mediums for microgreens and as you can see, the time in the dark has resulted in awesome celery sprouts that are now ready for the sun

True leaf has everything

Good on its own but better with a friend

I like the compactness of this dirt. It's ok on it's own, but I notice it compacts when it dries out. Fluffs right back up, but still. I did two pots with it alone, and another with it mixed in to potting soil. I notice the mixed pot retains the water a little better. Plants look the same in all pots but possibly that will change as the summer wears on. Overall I like it and will buy again, but will use it to stretch and enhance other potting soil.

Easy to use, but a pricy way to replant
by Only Originals (3 out of 5 stars)

Nine 40-mm wafers filled half of a 6-inch pot (roughly $6.50 per pot). I mixed this amount with some organic earthworm castings, pumice, and a bit of container mix. Also a shallow layer of charcoal wrapped in screening. This added $7.30 to each pot. Which means it cost $13.80 to repot three $15 plants. However, that does not include the price of the pot (roughly $4.50). The plants that needed new homes were in very poor condition. I'll see if they pull through and then decide if it was worth it.

This stuff is great!

I've never used it before and so far it looks like my plants love it! Living in an apartment with limited storage makes me appreciate the (relatively) tiny package. Just pour some water on it and watch it explode!

good growing material

Works like you would expect. I dropped three bricks into a home depot bucket and added water until they all absorbed the liquid and fell apart. Mixed it with some periolite and potting soil, green sand and compost to make soil blocks.

So far I have made 150 soil block and planted seeds and they are starting to grow nicely. Will defiantly buy these again.

Great topsoil.

I live in the Arizona High Desert and am building several raised bed planters and a garden section in the front yard. This is high quality stuff and my 3rd purchase.

Helpful tip: I use a Sawzall to cut these blocks into quarters before soaking them The large block takes forever to absorb the water and cutting them into quarters saves a lot ot time.
