Snap on leather sheath broken ugh!

Amazon bag was open, but the tool was in the original box and not damaged. Great multi-tool! Solid. Just enough and the right tools. Love the one handed slide out pliers. This will be a great replacement for my old tool.

Now the not so good. The snap on the handsome and the high quality leather sheath broke the first time I opened it! The first time!....... Awesome.... The leather sheath that retains the bits is the main reason I bought it from this seller as the corners on my old Cordura sheath wears out quickly. I have repalced it three times. Now, I have a great tool I cannot use correctly. I may return it for a new one just to get another leather sheath made for it.

Well Built, but...

The blade serrations are geared for lefties, which is strange. The leather is not the greatest, it seems like "genuine", but I will try to provide a follow-up review after some use. Not looking forward to the carbide cutters, I cut hard wire more than soft, but I am hoping that I can find a source to get tool steel inserts as that is what is needed for a cutting edge. I bought this over the leatherman models due to the bit standardization. If the leatherman had that instead of the proprietary nonsense, I totally would have bought that. Made in USA is nice though.

Very well built multi tool. The one handed operation is nice. What is good about the plus version is it removes the stand alone serrated knife and replaces it with scissors. The serrated knife is now integrated into the regular knife.

As others have said, the leather pouch is kinda cheap. Mine hasn't fallen apart yet but it's all held by rivets.

The only thing I am not looking forward to is the wire cutters on this. Every review says they are bad. I will try to replace the carbide cutters with some high quality high speed steel bits to see if I can complete this tool. I believe there are options out there for this.

Excellent Multi-Plier but you may want to replace the sheath

My 5th generation Gerber Multi-Pliers finally went missing so I purchased the Center-Drive Plus as a replacement. The tool is excellent and is everything I expected it to be. The sheath however is poorly made. There is no stitching and only 4 rivets are used to hold it together. Trying to thread it on a belt caused it hang up as the end of the belt caught the poorly glued overlapping leather in the back of the sheath. It works as a sheath but it suffers from a cost reduced design and manufacturing process. Fortunately, there are other 3rd party options for quality sheaths.

High quality tool for daily use

I have carried a Gerber multi plier 600 for the past 7 years or so, and it has lasted really well. I would say this tool is a decent upgrade. It has true one hand opening and closing, and can be flicked open. The fact the knife and driver can be accessed without opening the tool is also nice, and acts almost like a regular folding knife. The tool fits well in the hand. When extended, the pliers have a slight rattle to them, but so did my previous tool and it never affected function, but I would say it's one of the few things I could ding this tool for at its price point. The other tools lock up nice and tight. The bit set is a great option to have, and the leather sheath it comes with is quite nice looking, albeit a bit stiff, but I'm sure it will break in with time. Hopefully it will give me another decade of service like my last Gerber multi tool.

Great Multitool, Poorly Made Sheath

I decided on this multitool after a lot of research, and chose it because of its simplicity (the pliers, knife, screwdriver, and mini scissors were most important functionality-wise for me). It is a great heavy duty tool that has been able to withstand daily use for numerous applications at my work. My only criticism would be the leather sheath that Gerber provided with the product. I had to buy a new one from a different company because after only a week of using it, the snap broke. The multitool itself is great, but for the price I paid, Gerber should at least include a higher quality sheath that won't fall apart so quickly.

After reading a lot of mixed reviews about the original center drive I was concerned, but decided to take the plunge. Received today and could not be happier so far. I haven't put it through any hard use yet, but out the of the box it's awesome! I even bought a Leatherman OHT at the same time to compare and it's not even in the same league. The leather sheath is a great bonus! I highly recommend. Will update when I put it through some test.

I like this gerber multi tool. It's very sturdy and well made. It comes with a very nice leather case. The case has 2 compartments, 1 for the multi tool and the other for the bits. I've had no problems with it and now everyone in my shop wants one.
