If you're considering this Miracle Grow garden, you've probably also considered one of the Aero Gardens. I've had a few different Aero Gardens and was considering the Aero Garden Farm before ordering this product. I'll include some of my experience with the Aero Garden for comparison's sake.

I choose this because of the lower price and it's furniture-like appearance. The jury is still out on this product. The stand/table is stable and attractive; however, it looks a little utilitarian. Assembly is easy and the parts are basic. The biggest problem is with the lights and the hydroponic tub's ability to grow quality veggies.

The lights on this grown system are far from the grow tub. In my previous experience, this makes it hard to grow veggies from seed since the seeds need more light to germinate. I highly doubt you will get a good germination rate with this system.

I started with pre-potted plants and they have done OK. The growth rate is very slow. Most plants take 30-75 days to reach maturity, and it will take that amount of time to get edibles. This is also designed to grow leafy greens and herbs. No strawberries, no tomatoes, no peppers-it's very limited in what can be grown. Plus, it can only grow 4 small sized plants at once. Basically, you will get about two salads a week using this system if you use the haircut method of harvesting lettuce. To be fair, most tabletop Aero Gardens can only grow lettuce and herbs, but the size of this unit makes you WANT to grow more.

If you are new to hydroponic gardening, this system is very easy. Add water, the nutrients, and the plants and then it's a waiting game. You should also know that you should place this in a spot that doesn't get too much natural light. Natural light can cause mold growth on the growing medium and sludge in the hydroponic tub. If you have plants, know that there is no way to block them from "sampling" from your garden. Many plants, especially flowers, are poisonous to pets (especially cats) so choose them with care.

The app is very nice but is really just for information and to track your plant's growth. The lights on the device (and all hydroponic devices) can be annoying when trying to watch TV, so I have mine set to be on just at night. There is a slight gurgling sound. As of now, there are very few accessories and/or plants that you can order from Miricle Grow directly. Aero Garden is vastly superior in this regard.

At the end of the day, I like this product; however, growing lettuce year-round is not that exciting. I may just convert it to an herb garden in the future. The Aero Garden Farm allows you to grow a variety of veggies and start them from seed. It's not nearly as attractive, is twice the price, but it has more utility.

Works fast and seems very very simple.

Set it and forget it. But beware, this thing runs flowing water 24/7, so it will sound like a fountain in the room 24/7 365. As others have mentioned, its not the worse sound. Once the roots develop in a few weeks it should establish a drop line to help. The light is very bright so unless your room has a lot of natural light, this will look like a lab experiment in your living room. Stands out more then the pictures make you think. I bought two, one is faulty, the light never shut completely off, I have an open case with MiracleGro to resolve. Their responses have been kind of slow, you would thing after first complaint, and action would be taken but I have sent 3+ emails back an forth and there is still no action taken. Just sent me a new one or discount the faulty one, should be a very quick turnaround for something like this but its dragging out. Bluetooth connectivity to turn on or off the lights is kind of slow. Would be sweet if this could be Zigbee/Zwave capable so I could control it from Smartthings. Its also pretty big, think very big night stand. Very sturdy, definitely not something someone could sit on, but you could rest a couple pounds on it if you have some knickknack or something over it.

Finally an indoor growing system that actually looks nice in my home! So far I've grown lobelia (went off script) and now I'm growing sweet basil. My favorite part is how beautiful it is - I actually use this as a light in my living room instead of a lamp now!

Plants are growing well after about a month. I am also growing with a couple small pots sitting on to the water tank. Watching them grow definetly is a very pleasant experience. I think it is a decorative yet still fountional small indoor graden. Although I am don't think it can produce enough to have a sustain supply to the dinner table, I will enjoy the journey and crealess about the outcome.

It's sturdy, it's functional and it was challenging for someone to put together whose physically challenged. It was also difficult to pair with my android phone.

It's running now and we will see what happens over time. It is too soon to consider recommending it.

This product lives up to the hype! We have been looking for an indoor grower not only because we love to have fresh greens year round, but our space in our garden is limited. We looked high and low and the Twelve felt like the perfect fit. We have been incredibly happy with Miracle-Gro products and from what we have experienced so far the Twelve confirms the quality and ease it advertises. So the box arrives.. .it's HUGE! The kids were begging to crack it open when I got home from work. Honestly was getting ready for a long night of set-up, but to my surprise it was hands down the easiest thing I have ever set-up. Think Apple... I got the Twelve up and running in no less then 10 min. The instructions are simple and easy to understand. The app you download guided me through the entire process. We started with seeds, but you can start with a seedling - (fits Bonnie Plants sizes perfectly). In 5 days we already have little tiny plants!

This product can all be set from the app. Also reminds you to add water / food etc. It also looks really nice - you can put in anywhere in your house. I just bought two more - one I am going to stack at home the other gifting to my parents who live up in the mtns - they are going to love the fresh lettuce / herbs during the winder months!

So easy to grow indoors

We've had our Miracle-Gro Twelve for just over a week and love the experience so far. We've never grown anything indoors and this device makes it so simple. The assembly and set up took less than 15 minutes...we could have followed the printed instructions but downloaded the app and it walked us through the step-by-step assembly - very easy. We also received our first four plants free...there was a URL on the outside of the box that included the directions on how to order the free plants. We received two basil plants, one cilantro and one mint. The cool feature about this device is you are able to use young plants in this that you can get right now from almost any garden center so that you can harvest much sooner. My daughters loved transplanting the Bonnie Plants we received in the mall from their pots into the special cups & liners that came with this device. In just a few more days we'll be ready to begin harvesting and cooking with these herbs! The app includes a calendar to help us know when to harvest. I do have a dog and she was curious at first when we set it up but has completely left it alone since set up. The device is very quiet...before we put the plants in you could hear the water but now with the plants in place it is barely noticeable. We're excited to be growing inside and can't wait to try growing lettuce from seed next!

I have 2 of these systems. The best investment ever made. I have strawberries, lettuce and kale at my fingertips all year round. I no longer have to worry about the freshness or pesticides. It's great! I think the price is spot on. Think about how much money is spent in gas, the grocery store, the cost of eating healthy, etc. This system has saved me time and money. It's well worth the $300.00. Plus the app helps me stay on top of harvesting and the care my fresh fruit and veggies need. I love it!!

I am a happy, satisfied customer. I plan to invest in another system in the near future.
