Universal Century 0079. When the Principality of Zeon learns of a new Gundam being built, the veteran spec-ops Cyclops Team is dispatched to the civilian colony of Libot to investigate. Glad that this has been reissued this year. My old VHS copy is still good, but finding a VHS player nowadays is like Spike and Jet going to earth in Cowboy Bebop to find a Betamax...

This was one anime I missed back when it aired on Toonami in North America (I saw half of one episode). Forgot about it then saw it on Amazon and decided to give it a try for nostalgia. Really glad I did. It's well told, gives a nice perspective of the battle from the citizens viewpoint, and is short and direct. It's a tv series but I see people call it an OVA and it really is more in line with that. A great mini series that I would recommend. FYI, I am not a huge Gundam fan but I still loved it. I would recommend you try it if you have any interest in anime from the 90s.

A slight twist on the usual Gundam story

Most anyone looking at this will already know what 0080 is I feel like. But it's a pretty good series as long as you aren't going to it for sheer action. Watch a war operation from the eyes of a young boy who loves war, but has to learn about the horrors of his favorite fantasy.

I always felt like they went a bit too whimsical and light hearted at times, and feel they could've taken the concept a bit further. Most of the concept of the series, that I like, doesn't quite come as far into the forefront until the very end. Before that it's just kind of a boy having fun and chasing after his fantasy (war and mobile suits).

Saw the good reviews, but was leary. I love gundam, I love our hero pilots like mika and amuro. The thought of a gundam story revolving around a normal kid sounded like a stretch, especially if he isnt piloting a gundam. This story showed a civilian side of the war, it is a great mini series. You cant miss out on this if you enjoy the uc timeline.

My first real dive into the Gundam anime universe even though I've been building kits for a while. Blew my expectations out of the water. This isn't just for Gundam fans, this is a solid OVA in general. The story is fast paced, engaging and thought provoking. I'm a huge fan of 80's-90's era animation though it was mostly before my time. It had that warm, classic, hand drawn look that I love. A no-brainer for any Gundam enthusiast and I recommend anyone curious to check it out as well.

When the Christmas season comes, it makes me want to watch Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket. Only 6 episodes, but the story is simple and heartwarming. Every time I watch this, I end up crying. 0080 is one of my favorites Gundam series.

definitely my favorite Gundam show. If you want something short and good, this is the one.
