Works like a charm!

I ordered this for my PS4, this is advertised as being able to be used for both PlayStation and the XBOX one. I have both of these systems, and I was able to connect and add the drive without any issues. I would not recommend using it interchangeably, just my own preference but it worked great for the PS4. I have owned this PS4 since it first came out, and as a die hard gamer of course I have run out of space and found myself having to delete games because I didn't have any storage space. I would recommend using this to extend space, and ensuring that you have a secure connection with the drive and ensure good placement while in use. The USB port on this is similar to a regular external hard drive, and it doesn't have any locking mechanism to ensure that it does not become unplugged while in use. Overall this drive performed well, is not loud, it is aesthetically pleasing and blends with console devices and is pretty fast. No issues with it so far, looks great and functions well.

Slick looking and plenty fast enough
by Shane O. Laake (5 out of 5 stars)

While hard drives operate at rotational speeds no faster and often slower than they ran at in years past, the higher densities have actually increased sustained read speeds quite a bit. Sure it's no SSD, especially for random reads, but it's progressive bump in speeds you may not appreciate. All in all most drives are plenty fast enough for systems like the Xbox One where there are optimizations in the code to minimize delays for reading new data (as well as modest RAM, so there's not that much being read into memory for textures and whatnot.

Anyway, this is a solid drive. It's one among many, but MS has blessed it, and it comes withe the free game pass, which is a legit value. I love the game pass, and if you haven't tried it, now is your chance. As an added bonus the drive looks pretty slick too!

Recommended drive--highly recommended bundle with the game pass.

very sleek enclosure but one flaw
by Jong Lee (4 out of 5 stars)
September 25, 2019

I found the drive extremely small and enclosure sturdy, but the rubberized feet are very cheaply made. I think one of the most important thing is to ensure it doesn't vibrate when set next to the Xbox. Works well and is much smaller than the competing Seagate version.

the hardrive is very cool we have it connected to the xbox one and its working well, we have another on plugged i and they both are working at at the same time .

it is powered by the usb plug it comes with so its just the drive and the usb wire.

Want Extra Storage? Here it is.

Who doesn't need more storage space. I connected this to my Microsoft Surface go. It is perfect for backing up your data. Although, the text said 3TB. I received a 2TB device. Nevertheless, Western Digital makes quality products. Highly recommended.

Solid. Looks good. Slightly better than other 5TB external drives.

All tests were used with a USB 3.1 GEN2 port with provided cable.

CrystalDiskInfo + CrystalDiskMark
5400RPM 5TB (4.54TB useable) was hoping for a 7200RPM model...I guess that's the 3.5 inch drives.

The 'up to' 140MB/s claim was a bit aggressive.

Amazon didn't add any additional protection to the shipping of this physical hard drive. Came in a bubble wrap bag and manufacturer packaging.

Western Digital Packaging was nice.

Rubber feet arent 100% sticky, will slide if pulled by the cord

Not Impressed too much. $160 after taxes.

Seagate MyBackup Plus 5TB is under $130.

Very good drives so far!
by J. Barber (5 out of 5 stars)

I've purchased five of the 5TB versions so far. I've received one bad cable, but I had a couple of extra cables so it didn't matter. The drives themselves have been great. I've written at least 2TB of data to each of them without problems. I bought them because until now the biggest external USB drive you could get that didn't require an external power supply was 2TB. Now it's up to 5TB and I'm replacing the old ones. I've had good luck over the years with WD.

So far So Good

October 16, 2019

This is a good hard drive to purchase for the price and the number of games you can store is great. It also prevents me from deleting my old games. The only issue I had with this is hard drive was the initial setup of the hard drive it was just not plugged and play with little directions.
