Potentially unsafe levels of Heavy Metals (Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead, and Mercury):

Our 2 year old loves the pouches, but I came to find out 2 of the flavors may contain unsafe levels of heavy metals.

There are non-profit organizations that test baby food for safety, my wife wanted me to check out some of the foods we are buying for the kids. Most are fine, some are not.

I looked up all 4 pouch types on clean label project (that is the organization), I found this (attached screen capture for one of the bad ones) -

For the happy tot pouches, these tested fine:
- sweet potato, apple, carrot & cinnamon
- apple and butternut squash"

These two did NOT test safe - unsafe levels of Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead, and Mercury :
- green beans, pear & pea
- spinach, mango, pear

So, as far as I am concerned, half of the pouches are unsafe. I will have to buy them individually in the future.

Not a fan of the variety packs...

We regularly buy Super Food pouches for our 5 year old daughter, she loves them. Recently I ordered a variety pack from Amazon and noticed that there were several of the orange colored "apple, sweet potato, carrot, cinnamon, super chia" pouches still in the pantry. The kid wouldn't touch them. She literally gave me a pained look and refused to eat one. This morning on the way out the door I grabbed one thinking "How bad can it be?". I'm presently sitting in my office at work hoping I don't yak on my keyboard. It is quite possibly one of the worst tasting things I have ingested in the 45 years I've been alive. I can still taste it 15 minutes later. After I submit this review I'm heading down to the vending machines for some junk food to hopefully get the taste out of my mouth. I owe the 5 year old an apology when I get home, I gave her a hard time for being picky...

Pears, mango and spinach pouch was our favorite! I run out of my subscription supply and ordered 2 more boxes. I opened a pouch - and my son didn't like it, he said it's taste bad. Hmm... I checked the pouch, taste sweet, and I thought maybe my child wasn't in the mood to eat. Next day I opened another pouch and my son said again that he didn't like the taste. Not just didn't like it, he didn't ate at all. I started to search in my diaper bags and found the old pouch, trying to see what's different. My son was absolutely right - there are different kind of pouches. Same image, but different content and a bit higher in sugar (previous one 10gr and this one 11gr), but tastes very different. He like the old one, the lighter version, I taste it as well and I agree, less sugar lighter version tastes better. Now I'm stuck with 2 boxes and hopefully will be able send this back. I'm still under subscription and hope to get my old pouches with 10gr of sugar and better taste, so far it was the best tasting fruit snack for us. Adding photos to show the difference.

Food packets not packaged in company marked box

The food packets did not come in a company marked boxed. Instead, the packets were loosely packaged in a brown shipping box. Unfortunately, I couldn't in good conscience give this to my infant.

My 6 year old daughter has been eating this flavor of Happytot pouches for the past five years. We buy them by the case, every month. This month, my daughter refuses to eat them anymore. She said they taste "sour". I sampled them myself and can confirm that the taste has definitely changed, with no warning or notice on the package. Extremely disappointing.

Snack on the run

Needed a quick snack that's support my body. I don't have time to sit and eat all day long. I use to not eat all day and then eat something late. Being organic, helps supply protein and needed vegetables. Very easy to take along and eat in a couple minutes. I love the combinations and they taste great. Not just for babies!

Great value, great toddler snack

My 18 month old has been eating these pouches for several months and absolutely loves them. They are a bit higher in sugar than I'd like, but they are a good source of fruits and veggies for her and got us through the tricky stage where she was too old for baby food but didn't have the teeth for chewing fruits and vegetables yet. We always keep these with us when we go out. And Amazon's price is fantastic with subscribe and save - better than the grocery store or BJ's. (They work out to about $1.25 each with the 20% subscription discount, and sell for $1.69 each at our grocery store.)

I had to buy and return the wrong product t4 different times to finally receive the actual stage 4 pouches I wanted. It was a pain in the butt, but they are cheaper than at the store. I'm disappointed with Amazon for not compensating in some way after the first 3 mistakes on their part. However, once I did finally receive the pouches I was extremely happy. I saw several reviews that the kids did not like the chia seed taste. My daughter had not had the previous version so she have any issues. She has loved the taste and will eat an entire pouch. I love that they have protein and vitamin in them and feel good about her eating one. I will definitely be adding this to my subscription list!

22 month old still loves them!

Baby loves these from 9 months old to now almost 2yo. They are great for outings when he's simply too busy to stop and eat but i still want to ensure he's getting liquids/nutrition(i.e. a party, the park, the beach). I always keep one in the diaper bag. Yes, they do have a significant amount of natural sugar but also have other vitamins/minerals. He's starting to get his 2yo molars and uncomfortable mouth/not eating much so I'll get in him what i can, when i can. He eats 3-5/week. Price is good, a little cheaper than local.

Love these pouches but one pouch was damaged and leaked (it looks like maybe caught in the box it came in?) and we had to toss it. I'd rather buy these in store now because the lost pouch completely negates any cost savings over buying in person, where I get to inspect before purchasing.
