Good introductory, interactive mystery.by Justin Keen (5 out of 5 stars)

This book is great for you get kids. I would say that it has an appeal for kids as young as three and as old as first or second grade. It is a nice introductive mystery, and is interactive. There is a "magnify/spy" glass that you can place under a sheet that is sort of like an overhead projector put on top of a black page. You can't see what is on the page until you use the spy gloss, which is white. This allowance students to see clues, and helps them focus on small pieces of the picture at a time to really observe it. They can then put all of the clues together to solve the case.
Good first mystery book to introduce to pre schooler.

My 4 year old loves this book. It is a fun book to read and introduce mystery book to pre schooler. This book has two paper "flashlight" and allows the reader to use the "flashlight" to find the objects based on the clues in the "dark" (pages with dark screen". My main objective with this book is to encourage him to read a variety of books by introducing mystery books earlier. We ended up buying the other two books in the same series.

The book didn't come with all of the parts. There were supposed to be " flashlights" included, but none can with the book.

Six-year old is spellbound

My six-year old is fascinated with this book and has already read it 10+ times in a few short days. In it, a police detective investigates missing dinosaur bones at a museum party. Each party guest becomes a suspect in turn until the true culprit is finally found. Once the story gets going, every other page of text faces an illustrated, transparent page against a black background. Children can slide in the supplied, white cardboard "flashlight" for a neat spotlight effect as they look for clues. It's fun, and I suspect we'd have no trouble fashioning our own cardboard flashlight if we lost the one that came with the book.
We'll be looking for other books in this series, and I've also ordered a copy of Clue for my budding detective.
