Fantastic and entertaining guide to being a gentlemanby TheBGH (5 out of 5 stars)

I bought three copies of this title - one for me and one for each of my two sons. There is a huge war on boys in American public schools and popular culture and this book was a gift to show that being a MAN is good, noble, and healthy. I love the tips on what to do in certain situations! The writing style is hugely entertaining, almost in a classic Sherlock Holmes or post-Victorian style which makes the book even more fun. It's an entertaining read but the lessons are practical, as well. Being a gentleman is good and how to be a gentleman is a fantastic way to live. This book shows how and why!
The field guide to all things manly and gentlemanly!

This book is GREAT! It's well laid out, an easy read and chock full of great and useful information. And as the male of the species struggles to rediscover what it means to be a man and a gentleman, I'd add that it's full of great and timely info to boot.
I only have 2 "regrets" about this book; 1) that it doesn't come in a hardbound version, and 2) that it wasn't in print when I was maybe 18-20 years old. It's an awesome reference for a man's entire life!
Great book for anyone

I first got this book about five years ago from my uncle and the book definitely has taught me a lot and has shaped me to the person I am today. I definitely recommend it to anyone since everyone can learn something from the book. Since I loved this book so much I bought another copy to give it to a friend since it is a great read.

It's an easy read. It felt good to know I learned some of these things on my own since my dad didn't really pass much of this down to me. I like the fact that you can jump around and read sections as you need them, instead of having to do a straight read for everything to make sense. This is just an introduction to gentlemanly concepts. You will spend a lifetime perfecting these skills, and you will not he a master by the end of the book, but this is a great book to give a young man on his journey to manhood which teaches practical skills with an emphasis on why it's important. I wish this had been required reading in high school. But for now at the age of 32 I feel it's a good reminder of what I need to know and even an introduction into things I have not yet experienced.
Great book to make an easy step in the right direction of self-improvement.
Every man should have it!

This book is fun and fabulous, appropriate for an older teen through any adult. I got it as a gift but wanted to keep it for myself! It's full of "lost arts" such as how to tie a bow tie to being police to a girlfriend to joining conversation.
Awesome, timeless book

I bought this as a gift for my graduating nephew, already owning a copy myself. I love the focus on self-responsibility. Of doing for yourself, of being polite and proper when the situation calls for it. I love the tips that many fellas don't know these days, like tying a tie, shaving with a double edge safety razor, or style tips like how to pick sock color or pants length or break. All kinds of useful info that I didn't know before, and now use regularly. Hopefully my nephew will find it as useful, interesting, and amusing as I did.

Great information that was once passed on from father to son. Sadly that times necessitate a published book. Neat information on tying a tie, I only knew of one way while the book describes multiple.

I love this book. I am a fan and follower of the Art of Manliness and am enjoying reading his book. I love it so much, I am buying another one as a gift for a young graduate heading off to college. Originally I bough a used copy that was in less then perfect condition but the seller corrected the problem almost immediately after I notified them of it. Highly recommend Better World Books if you can buy from them.

The contents of the book at great and I love the cover but the pages are all messed up. Some are torn, some are connected to each other, and some look like they were cut oddly. I'll have to return it. I hope they can send one that is in better shape.
A valuable book for all men.

I was introduced to this book by my nephew. This book in my opinion is a must for all young men. This book gives the teachings my parents taught me and I leaned some things I did not know and reminded me of others.
The title of the book uses the word Manliness, I would say it could use the Gentleman as well. I will purchase this for all of my Nephews and young men I know.
