Pat the Zombie Book | ||||||||||||

Product Description
A macabre mash-up of the children’s classic Pat the Bunny and the present-day zombie phenomenon, with the tactile features of the original book revoltingly re-imagined for an adult audience. In the hemorrhagic vein of other zombie parodies, Pat the Zombie presents trusting toddler Judy playing peek-a-boo with a putrefying Paul. Grownup fans of Pat the Bunny (seven million of them) will find their favorite touch-and-feel features disturbingly re-created: Judy reaches for Zombie’s decaying jaw instead of daddy’s cheek; Paul caresses Mummy’s empty eye socket instead of her wedding ring. Ximm’s twisted wit, Soofi’s sick artistic sensibility, and clever packaging that mimics the original book will bring the undead lurchingly to life in this camp popculture romp.

Dorothy Kunhardt's 1940 book, Pat the Bunny, is likely one of the first books bought and read to babies. I had my own bedraggled Pat the Bunny book when I was little (that fake fur got really nasty over time). And with my own little ones, I remember guiding tiny hands to touch the soft fuzzy bunny. That's why I knew I had to get this ridiculous book for my now-19 year old son. You know...special memories.
This book, Pat the Zombie, is an obvious parody of that popular book for babies -- and not just as it relates to the book's title. Nope, it even includes the little girl and boy, Judy and Paul, from that original book. But in this new creepy rendition, Judy doesn't just pat the bunny. On the usual page-spread with the fuzzy bunny, the words say, "Judy can gut the zombie. Now YOU can gut the zombie" (and the gory, gutted zombie is the fuzzy bunny). Another example is based on the page from the baby book where Paul (and YOU) can put fingers through Mommy's ring. Well, in this new book, the words are, "Paul can put his finger through Mummy's skull. Now YOU can put your finger through Mummy's skull." And, yes, you can. There are also putrefying faces to feel.
The quality of this book isn't that great, but that's not really why I bought it. It's gory, disgusting, and sick...and, therefore, the perfect silly gift for any fellow zombie enthusiasts who also grew up with this beloved baby book. This version is most definitely NOT for babies.

This is a cute book. It says it's for adults, but my little niece loves it. One word of advice: You may be tempted to use the scratch and sniff. Don't do it!!! It honestly does smell like death and I wretched for about 30 minutes. It's just one of the lovely, er nasty, little details that adds to the charm of this gross little book.
Perfect, love it

I bought this as part of a care package I was sending to my boyfriend when he was overseas because he has the same morbid humor as me. We definitely both got a kick out of it.

This is a cute little spoof of the old "Pat the Bunny" children's book. The spoof is intended for adults.
It is a short book, pages and story wise.
There are little sight and tough gags throughout allowing reminiscing and play.
Overall, a fun read/spoof!
Cute but was expecting better quality for the money

I love the book, just the quality of the materials was pretty disappointing. It was about the same quality as card stock. Book overall was very cute and a good throw back to my childhood with a zombie twist.
A must-have for zombie-lovers who had a copy of Pat The Bunny!

I love this! I used to work in a bookstore, we sold hundreds of "Pat the Bunny". When I saw this I had to have it! But, don't give it to a young child, this is sick!
Love it, but the guts STINK

This is a great spoof. Just watch out for the page with the scratch-n-sniff guts. I didn't even scratch it and the smell made me just about hurl.
Older kids will probably get a kick out of this book, especially if they have toddler/pre-school siblings who have the original. (I'm debating showing to my 7yo who happens to love all things Zombies and has a 4yo sister). Just don't accidentally swap the two books at story time, or CPS will be knocking at your door.
Did I mention the scratch-n-sniff guts smell horrible?
