You don't have to be a genius to create these ingenious contraptions, you just need rubber bands, glue, paperclips, and Rubber Band Engineer, of course.
Shooting far, flying high, and delivering way more exciting results than expected are the goals of the gadgets in Rubber Band Engineer. Discover unexpected ways to turn common materials into crafty contraptions that range from surprisingly simple to curiously complex.
In vivid color photos, you'll be guided on how to create slingshot rockets, unique catapults, and even hydraulic-powered machines. Whether you build one or all 19 of these designs, you'll feel like an ingenious engineer when you're through. Best of all, you don't need to be an experienced tinkerer to make any of the projects! All you need are household tools and materials, such as paper clips, pencils, paint stirrers, and ice pop sticks.
Oh, and rubber bands. Lots of rubber bands.
Grab your glue gun, pull out your pliers, track down your tape, and get started on the challenging, fun, and rewarding journey toward becoming a rubber band engineer.

Fun, interesting, my son loves itby Tim (5 out of 5 stars)

Bought this one for my son on his birthday. He loves it. What I didn't expect was that he was going to arm himself and declare an all out war on me with all his new found weapons. I think it's great that he's motivated enough to create all of the gadgets, too bad for him I'm investing in larger more powerful Nerf weapons to show him that mutually assured destruction it's always the best idea

Am planning to purchase approx. 20 more as Christmas Gifts, plus his other books for myself, (hope this doesn't ruin anyone's Christmas surprise). Have mine on the coffee table and thus far three people have read it from cover to cover prior to my getting a chance. Amazing concepts and even better, they really work ! Can not wait to read more books by Lance Akiyama !

We homeschool our kids (ages 9, 10, and 12). We bought this to do more projects together to keep things interesting and learn all about using principles in areas such math, science, engineering, hydraulics, art, etc. As soon as our kids opened it their eyes lit up and were super excited to start doing projects. Assuming one project a week, there is almost 5 months worth of projects. The book is well written, tons of pictures, many tips along the way during construction, and the book itself is nice enough that it will last many years if taken care of....you know, grandkids down the road. Great buy.

I taught 6th grade STEM, and the Bow and Arrow challenge with a could little tweaks was great they loved it. I do not give students rubber bands so having the string option was great. Other teachers have looked through it as well to get ideas.

This is one of my ten year old son's favorite science project book. He's able to build some projects on his own and needs minimal help with others. This book is a great alternative to get boys doing stuff they enjoy and off video games.

It's a great book full of projects you can build as a family. I have to say that the rubber bands are not a huge part of it, though. We made the catapult without a single rubber band for instance.

This book is great for kids. My 11 year old boy loves it. Most of it he can do himself. I did not have anything in hand so I did spend some money buying the staples for the projects. But totally worth it.
