Great Anchor With a Few Modifications
by AmazonMan (4 out of 5 stars)
August 27, 2016

I gotta thank everyone who gave their suggestions for this anchor. The reviews certainly helped and I'd like to consolidate them for anyone who may find it easier to read, so here goes!
- Untie the rope it comes with and retie it to opposite end of the anchor. Then, where the anchor originally was attached, attach the rope to that loop with a zip tie.
- Add some weight to the rope just before the anchor handle. This can be done by adding a length of chain to the rope before the anchor.
(Read below if you're wanting to know what the purpose for doing these modifications)
- The reason to retie the rope to the opposite end of the anchor and to place a zip tie at the original location is because doing so will give you a different angle to pull the anchor from should it get lodged somewhere. Ideally, if the anchor gets stuck, you can pull on the rope hard enough causing the zip tie to break and changing the angle your pulling at and hopefully dislodging the anchor.
- The reason to add weight to the rope is because as the anchor sits in the water, there are times where the hooks of the anchor dont grab to the ground. Instead it'll glide across the bottom. Adding weight just before the handle will cause the handle end to tilt to the sea floor and increasing the chances the hooks will grab onto the ground. I hope that makes sense. I added a foot of chain from Lowes onto mine. If I'm not mistaken it cost about 3$ or so for the length of chain.

A MUST for every kayaker!
by Shannon Valdez (5 out of 5 stars)

I have used this every item I go kayaking! I use it to float in place, to hook up with other kayakers. Used it to jump in and off my sit up top Kayak to swim. We have left it anchored by its self in the lake and river when it was really windy and the kayak stay anchored.

Great anchor for kayak with a couple of tweaks
by Ronald Goodman (4 out of 5 stars)
September 30, 2015

Love this anchor for my kayak! But the thick rope is overkill for that application. I replaced the original rope with a lighter and 25' longer 75# rated 1/8" floating line from Home Depot that also had a storage handle, and that works better and is much easier to store and handle in the kayak. Then I turned the original rope into bow and stern lines for two kayaks. I also added a short length of galvanized chain between the anchor and line, to weight the arm down for setting a better fluke grip on the bottom, a lesson learned when I had a much larger 30' power boat and anchor.

Worked perfectly..
by RJG (5 out of 5 stars)

This worked perfectly to hold our River Run floats in place. Dropped out in the middle of the lake and attached to one of our floats..held two adults and two kids firmly in the water, total of around 630lbs. Way more relaxing than paddling constantly to stay in the area. I took some advice I read online and attached the rope to the bottom of the anchor, then secured part of the rope to the top eyelet with a zip tie, so if it gets stuck under a rock or log you can break the zip tie and pull anchor up from the bottom, hopefully dislodging it. No problems with that yet though.. Nice anchor system for the price..

Works but relocate the rope to the bottom tie point!

Using this for my canoe and it works great. I will say this, untie the rope from the top of the anchor and move it to the bottom and use zip ties to secure the line to the top hole. Fortunately I used this method because my first time out I hooked up on a rock and this saved me from loosing the anchor in 10ft of freezing water

3rd one purchased but wondering this time . . .
by Jesse D. Nuttall (3 out of 5 stars)

I received this folding anchor yesterday after previously ordering (and loving) two of the same model within the last 2 months. I needed a total of 3 and I was so happy with this that I ordered my third just this week. As mentioned, I received it last night and although it was packed exactly the same as the other two and included all of the same hardware, storage bag etc, as I removed it from the packaging, I noticed immediately that this one seemed different. Upon inspection, the flukes were floppier than my other two and the retaining ring that locks the flukes open or closed was so loose that it does not stay in place, ultimately letting the flukes do their own thing. Our family has 3 kayaks and sometimes my 10 year old will be using one. I don't want that anchor to be questionable for anyone but especially for my young daughter if she happens to get that one. I am concerned at the dependability of this anchor if the flukes need to stay in the extended position on a windy day, etc.

Although I would give 5 starts for the first 2 that I bought, I gave this purchase only 3 stars for two reasons; First, I love this style and have really loved the two that I have already used, I just think this one is a bit of a lemon, and the second reason is that I have not actually taken it out and used it yet. Hoping it will somehow stay in position when needed but we will have to see.

Prong Assembly POOR
by Samuel G. (1 out of 5 stars)

I bought this anchor for kayak fishing, to prevent me from drifting all over the lake. On the first day the product worked like a charm. I found my spots, dropped anchor and remained there. Day 2.. I found my spot and dropped anchor. When I decided to go to a new area of the lake; I started to pull up my anchor and discovered that the prongs of the anchor remained on the floor of the lake, all that I had was the anchor shaft. Needless to say I floated around Wiggins Lake all day. Beware of this Anchor.

Awesome Purchase.

OK, the greatest feature of this anchor. The bag floats!!! I've accidentally knocked this bag out of my kayak almost two dozen times and it stays on top of the water amazingly well. That being said it's more suited for harder bottom surfaces. The lake I frequent is quite soft on the bottom so when I get a fish on in my Kayak I still have a bit of movement. Also in some of the higher current areas, It acts more like a way to slow the kayak way down with how soft the bottom is. I'm sure that if it had something more to bite into it would hold fast. Considering I like to move slowly while casting that is not a bad thing. Really easy to clean and folds up quite fast with one hand.

GREAT for paddle boards too!
by ohana10 (5 out of 5 stars)

We bought this for tying up out at the sand bars here in the Florida Keys, and it works great! We hook both our boards to it and don't have to worry about then drifting off. I can dive and still find my board where I left it. Or we just drop it and float out there soaking up the sun, great investment!!

Kayak anchor
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)

Good equipment for inflatable kayak when fishing or when pulling up to a beach just in case the tide comes in while you are exploring an island. The bag is handy, but could be slightly larger. I cut the line off the anchor and put on 50 ft of 3/8" braided nylon. (I don't like PP floating lines for anchor systems, stiff and hard to coil. The float just gets in the way where space is a premium. If you lose your anchor once, you'll get another and be more careful next time.
