I used these to remove burn residue from the heat affected zone of MIG welds in carbon steel. The fingers of the brush are compliant enough to clean up the weld zone in preparation for powder coating without altering the appearance of the weld bead, Durability is much better than abrasive pads although the material removal rate is less than a new abrasive pad. Great at cleaning but don't expect much material removal. If you hit the metal with an 80 grit disc these pads will not polish out the scratch pattern from the 80 grit. However, they do an excellent job of cleaning up all the residue from the burning of surface contaminants. Like them enough that I will keep a box of them in the abrasive drawer.

I used these taking off paint and rust and they work great using an air tool. They last a pretty decent amount of use and I used them all the way until they were almost flat.

The 3" ones are better but for the price these are quite good. I would buy them again when needed.
