Product Description

If you're traveling you need the best travel towel, if camping you want the top camp towel, swimming the best swim towel and playing sports the best sport towel. Lightload towels are the best of the best. First, what we are not. We are not a microfiber towel that describe most camping towels, sports towels and travel towels. Our towels vacuum seal to look like the smallest of travel size toiletries and fit nicely in a toiletry bag. They open to a surprisingly big towel. Micro fiber fabric cannot compress to pack small. Our towels absorb like a large sponge. Microfiber towels are not nearly as absorbent. Our cellulosic material comes from the natural environment. It's made from plant and tree scraps and can help to sustain the forests. Microfiber is a plastic and environmentalists warn, particles of microfiber are washing into the water supply and killing sea life. We also aren't those little popup coin tissue wipes in a tube that come 50 to a bag or 10 to a tube. Although they compress to dry towels and their material is stronger than paper towels, they are still a thin emergency use wipe, people use a lot, as expensive toilet tissue. There are news stories written that these wipes clog up drains damaging the sewers. Our material is made from the finest lyocell a much thicker grade fabric, washable, soft on the skin and reusable. People can burn them to dispose. Lightload pack towels are the best at easy storing and are sealed to be a clean dry towel until you are ready to use. They pack to free up space in pockets, carry-ons, survival bags, travel bags, backpacks, gym bags, bug out bags, dry bags, suitcases and more. They are truly a magic towel.

Features

  • COMPRESSED FOR EASY STORAGE, REUSABLE AND LIGHT WEIGHT FOR TRAVEL: If you spend a lot of time on the go, traveling; hiking and camping, saving weight and space in your travel bag, backpack, camping or hiking gear matters. Our hand towel is so light weight at .5oz. We vacuum pack it to a mini tablet coin size which space saves for other packables, like food, water and survival gear. It can also be used over and over to clean, wipe and dry.
  • SUPERB CLOTH: Our towels are made of award winning Lyocell It’s not microfiber but derived from sustainable wood and plant scraps that are breathable, hypoallergenic and burnable. Our camp towels are a wash cloth or a wipe, always clean, fresh in the package and fast drying. A waterproof layer was added to the package so you can swim across the lake and open to a dry towel. Wash the cloth? Just pack in a pocket or mesh camp bag, throw in the machine and clean.
  • MULTIUSE: Lightload Towels were created as a cleaning towel for long distance hiker’s personal care. In time we found they offered more. They are great for first aid as bandages, emergency care as blankets, tactical gear as fire starters, Protective gear for static electricity, and remedies for skin irritations. They store easily in your backpack and luggage also in survival bags and bug out kits, Hunters, fishermen, boy scouts, golfers, cyclists, preppers, gym goers all use the towels.
  • SUPER ABSORBENT QUICK DRY & HYGIENIC: Lightload Towels have superb water management properties. These Swim towels absorb more than 9.5 times their weight. Cotton and microfiber towels don’t come close to this feat. It’s also the excellent water management that wicks water away from your body keeping you cool in the warm and warm in cool weather.
  • SOOTHING ON SKIN: Even the best hikers and backpackers have emergencies. That’s why a Lightload multipurpose towel is a must to prepare. It’s compressed so forget about it until you open to a clean dry cloth. It’s a bio-based fabric made from plants and wood and can be a cure all for many emergencies. Many of earth’s medicines and remedies come from plants and wood. I’ve personally soothed excruciating nettle stings with just applying the dry cloth to the pain.

Must be careful!!! Can be great or can be garbage!
by CMCV (3 out of 5 stars)

I was excited to find towels that would dramatically reduce the space required to pack towels for drying off after bathing on camping trips and ordered a dozen of them. I read the directions that said the towels must be moistened first in order to unravel them from the way they come vacuumed in a small puck. I did a trial run, moistening and unraveling one towel. It had a strong chemical smell so I decided to unravel and launder all of them before use. I laundered 8 of the 12 in a front load machine on normal wash and dried them on normal heat and they turned out beautifully as shown in the first photo. You can also see in the first photo how small I was able to roll and rubber band them. They are certainly not as small as the original puck, but about a third of the size of a thin towel and that's worth the space saving. However, as you can see from the second and third photos, when I laundered the last 4 towels on a later occasion, disaster struck when I laundered the towels on a normal cycle in an older model- top load machine and dried them on normal. They completely shredded apart and became fuzzy garbage that I'm still trying to get the fuzz out of the rest of the towels that were in that load. The manufacturer is foolishly negligent by not instructing the proper laundering information. The strong chemical smell that the towels have straight out of the package is also unfortunate. I can't imagine anyone comfortably drying themselves off with that smell on the towel. However, if laundered on delicate cycle or in a newer model front load washer, they wash and dry beautifully with no remaining chemical odor. They are not usable as towels directly out of the packaging, but with proper laundering, are hopefully a good space saving resolution to regular towels. I say"hopefully", because I have not used them as towels for drying off after bathing yet. I'll update my review once I have used them for their intended purpose.

Multi-Use, Fabulous Towels - Always Travel With Them!
by Hollister K. Weber (5 out of 5 stars)

I went on a Backroads hiking and cooking trip through Tuscany in September. Before leaving, I was thinking about what might come in handy on the trail, mostly thinking about emergency situations. Little did I realize that there would be little shade on the trails (they don't call it "The Tuscan Sun" for no reason). Well, we had such good back up support on the trails and our guides had everything imaginable for us...EXCEPT for what saved me...Lightload Towels! I am fair and the heat really got to me, so I soaked the towels in cool water and tied them around my neck. They provided great comfort. On another trip, we were in France where we rented a lovely little house at Utah Beach for the 70th Anniversary of D-Day. We had negotiated sheets and towels with the owners, but neglected to address TOWELS. Nothing was open for purchase of bath towels, but I had brought my three Lightload Towels, quite by chance, and believe it or not, they sufficed beautifully...just wiping ourselves down and squeezing the water out. Plus, they dried quickly for the next use. I now take them with me everywhere, as they take up no room. They even wash in the washing machine! I have yet to start a fire with them, but have given them to my children who enjoy camping trips. So, we'll see!

Happily added to my back pack...great item
by Pocono Bob (5 out of 5 stars)

The Lightload Towels are just that....light and compact. I have bought a two packs and now plan to buy more. I activated one to see how it evolves from a very portable, light weight towel and am impressed with the 12' x 24' size and quality. It is similar to a handi-wipe. This has some great qualities other then its large size, terrific absorbency and light weight. This is a great back pack, bug out bag item. It is orange which could be used for an emergency flag if stranded or lost. For a back pack item, this could be used for many activities such as bathing, cleaning, towel, used to obtain water from morning dew on plants, a preliminary water filter, tourniquet on arm, fire starter. Definitely a good survival tool. I plan on putting two in each of my back packs and some in my car. I gave one to my bother who back packs often and he was very excited about the item...size, weight and many usages.

Incredibly simple, fantastically useful!

I purchased these to use as an additional item in an emergency first aid kit. I'm often outdoors in secluded areas that offer very minimal resources for emergent situations. As an added challenge, limitations on available space in my daypack makes every ounce of weight/volume a very valuable asset. These towels fit the bill perfectly! I now use them for a variety of applications, keeping some in my car, at work, and in my carry-on when I travel.

Pros:
1) They work! - I've used these types of expandable towels before, and they would crack or split upon adding water. All three of the towels in my package expanded perfectly!
2) Fantastic size - not only is the expanded size accurate to the product description, but this brand offers multiple size options for any application you may have in mind. The small nature of the dehydrated version is a dream for anyone looking to shave extra space off of their packing duties.
3) bright color - having the bright colors allows these to also function as a "safety flag" in circumstances that you may need to signal someone.
4) unbeatable price - I have been unable to find a single seller that sells these types of towels at a lower price per unit.
5) biodegradable - there's nothing better than a biodegradable product for the avid outdoors-person. Practical and responsible = win/win.

Cons:
1) not meant for many uses - this is an obvious sacrifice that you make in order for all of the other pros that you get, but it's important to note that you're not going to be using these for years (or even months) to come. You can wash them, and though the product is advertised as being able to go through a washer machine, I would only ever hand wash these. I usually use these in a single-use type of way anyways, but at this price, you're really not losing, AT ALL!

Overall, I HIGHLY recommend these towels and will definitely be re-purchasing for years to come.

Handy to have!

My first Lightload Towel was the beach towel. It worked so well as a towel to carry while in port during a cruise (soooo much lighter and compact than cruise ship towels) that I bought another beach towel and these smaller sized towels. These are great! They fit easily into a day bag and come in handy. You can sit on them when the seating conditions leave a little to be desired, wet them and wipe your face when it is hot, wrap it around a delicate souvenir or clean off a sticky kid after a melting ice cream cone. The great thing is that they can be used over and over again. They don't pack down into a little disk again, but when dry they are still very compact. I have washed mine several times since buying them and they are still in good shape. They are not as sturdy as cotton towels, but for the convenience they are well worth it. I always travel with several and even carry a small one in my purse. It is a great product!

Best portable towels ever!
by Sky (5 out of 5 stars)
May 11, 2015

The first time I opened one of these, I was a little lost. It looked like and was as hard as a hockey puck. Maybe not that hard, but definitely as round. I kept scraping at with with my nails, trying to undo it somehow. Then, I realized, maybe I need to moisten it a little, so I poured some bottled water on it and presto, it was magic; they began to expand! In seconds, I had a much larger than expected, definitely welcomed, moist portable towel. It was so big, I divided it into four pieces by simply tearing it with my hands. It is very sturdy and strong, yet easy to cut, if that makes sense.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. My significant other was just waiting to say, "great, another piece of junk, hoarder!" but this time around, I was able to say, "without me you would live in a box, cheapskate!" Buy the towels, you won't regret it!

Throwback! Put a Smile on my Face!

Great little hand towels, perfect for backpacking, camping, music festivals, first-aid kits, etc! I used to get these for Christmas growing up, it was something my mom enjoyed watching us freak out over, when my brother and I would put them in the sink and watch them expand! These little towels are great for many activities especially with kids (4-10 est.) but also good for the gym, traveling light, airports, you name it! I bought these as stocking stuffers for Chrsitmas and everyone enjoyed getting them! I would recommend these to anyone who enjoys doing something cool or unique! I'm happy with my purchase and would definitely buy these again!

Not so waterproof, but useful
by Ronsiajaixp (4 out of 5 stars)

The towel is almost as described, however, my first test after receiving it was to drop it in a cup of water to see if it was actually as described. The packaging is two laminated paper covers surrounded by shrinkwrap plastic, the kind that comes on bottles or jars. After an hour or so the paper had soaked through and when I unwrapped the towel, it was pretty wet, but kept its shape (so no real issue). The packaging is my biggest gripe, Next came when I did the "washing machine test" reading other peoples reviews I wondered if it were the setting people had their washers on or if it were other clothes in the machine. I figured if it were meant to be actually machine washable, it would be able to deal with other clothes in the washer so I threw it in with the wife's delicates. It came out frayed and fuzzed but still useable. I wouldn't throw it in the machine again though. Be warned, you need to hand wash these. Otherwise, the towels themselves are great. They're pretty much as advertised by the description and all the other positive reviews. I gave this three stars primarily because of the misleading packaging, I assumed it would be a hard waterproof shell, and the fact that it was not really machine washable. Otherwise, for an emergency, these are great and work in a cinch.

Handy and durable for a rainy day (literally)
by Tom M. (5 out of 5 stars)

I bought these a few years ago to have on hand for emergencies. I finally needed one on my last canoeing trip. It had poured rain one night, and our tent rainfly was still very wet when we wanted to pack up camp and move on. I opened one of these little guys, and I was amazed at how much water they can hold. They are also very durable! I wiped up as much water as I could, wrung out the towel, then did it again. We ended up using the same towel for a few days! I hung it up to dry and it still came in handy many times. I was pleasantly surprised how well this little towel works.

I plan on buying more when I buy a kayak in a few months. They take up very little space, and a few of them should be in every emergency kit!

A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Take three!

Seriously though, these little towels are great for survival kits. I played with one for a bit just to check its suitability for my purpose, and it pretty much works as advertised.

I've put the other two in a survival kit in my car and my fiancee's (we live in New England, you never know when you're going to get stranded by a blizzard or a hurricane; hopefully it never happens but I like to be prepared). The small size of the "pucks" is great to keep the size of the kit down... I'm almost tempted to throw another set into each kit just because there's room for it!

Great little towels!
by istadevata (5 out of 5 stars)

We go camping a lot, and got these for a week-long festival in the woods where we use an outdoor kitchen. We generally wash anything we get before we use it, but we were glad we washed these first since they have a bit of an odor. (Washing took care of that completely.)

DON"T PUT THEM IN THE DRYER, but they certainly hold up through some washes. Just dry flat or on a clothesline.

They're not made to hold up indefinitely, so we never had that expectation. But they are terrific for what they are - great hand/dish towels that are surprisingly absorbent - and quick drying. We used them 2 summers, then bought another set. They each fold down to about the size of a pair of no-show footie socks.

We also got the large, bath-sheet style lightload towels. These are great, too. They're just the same as the hand towels, just a whole lot bigger - yet they fold down to about the size of a hand towel. The bath sheets are also wonderfully absorbent and quick drying.

Out of the way until you need them.

A buddy of mine turned me on to these. They are perfect for the bugout bag and for first aid use in a pinch (excellent bandages with exceptional absorption for bleeding!).

I bought a couple of three-packs (one off Amazon, one locally) and find them extremely useful and practical, especially in a bugout bag where space is critical. I also keep a couple around the house - one in the shop and one in the kitchen - and one in the truck (in a day-bag)... you know, just in case.

If you want an everyday towel then these are not for you - you want something compact and out of the way until needed, these are PERFECT!

Best uses - vehicle, backpack, medical bag, shop/kitchen and day-bag.

Well worth the <$7 asked for these!
