Works for me
by Jerry M. Williams (4 out of 5 stars)
February 21, 2017

I was apprehensive after reading the very mixed reviews. I'm using them in alpine ski boots and they work well at temperatures down to 5 degrees F. I haven't tested them colder than that (yet). I put them on medium only when my feet get really cold and only until my feet are no longer cold and then turn them off. I haven't run out of battery charge in a 7 hour ski day. The right foot gets warmer than the left and at first I thought the left one wasn't working. It works, it's just not as warm. The buttons on the remote control can sometimes get pushed when in your pocket. This is how I learned that high heat is too warm. Getting the insoles in and out of ski boots is a bit tricky until you learn a technique that works. Pulling them out of very cold ski boots is a real challenge. Let the boots get warm first and it's a bit easier. The added thickness of the insole from the originals in the ski boots actually made the boots fit better, which was unanticipated but welcome. I leave them in the boots even on warmer days for fit and in case it gets colder. If the two warmed to the same temperature and if the remote didn't turn itself on sometimes, this would be 5 stars.

Just don't last long
by Clay Dragonfly (2 out of 5 stars)

I bought these a little over 2 years ago. By the end of the first winter, I had made a warranty claim and had them replaced because they stayed warm for less than a hour on the lowest setting. I think model had been discontinued because they replaced with the ones with the batteries you can remove and replace. Another year on and the left insole died. It was not the battery. I tested swapping the batteries back and forth, right would work, left not. Apparently thermacell has completely gotten out of manufacturing heated insoles.

Unfortunately it seems that everything else has a battery pack that you need to strap around your leg. Very awkward. Plus most brands don't make insoles that can be cut down enough to fit in women's size 5. It sucks, but it looks like I am back to the single use warmers that have their own issues.

Too warm on low
by Larry Barringer (4 out of 5 stars)
March 11, 2016

These do warm my feet but almost too much. My feet are almost ALWAYS cold, but even these on the low setting get very hot, and I have to turn them off for awhile to cool. I wish there were something to warm the tops of my toes as well. These aren't easy to get in and out of my tight shoes so turning them off and on before storing is a pain. I also don't feel like they last as long as they are supposed to before needing a recharge, but I was desperate for something to keep my feet warm during church, and these are the best I've found so far. I just hope they last for a very long time!

so much potential but careful on sizing!!!
by Outdoor Pursuit (3 out of 5 stars)

Ok so I don't have any real way to evaluate how well these keep your feet warm during cold days skiing. Based on the sizing guides I ordered a Large as it fits womens shoe sizes 8.5-10. This is not a true statement of size. I wear an 8.5 to 9 shoe depending on the brand and use and well lets just say the shape is too wide and long for any of my insoles. I think I will end up ordering a Small just so I can get them in and out of my ski boots! Super disappointed that I will have cold feet again this weekend while volunteering with adaptive ski lessons!

Stop working after one month!
by Confidential (1 out of 5 stars)
May 25, 2017

Only lasted two months. The first month was great. The second I could feel the heat very low. After two month I had no use for them. I had to throw them away. Worst is it made my feet smell. I honestly never had that problem. It was only with this material. This was a big waste of $100. Bucks. I'm really disappointing because my feet are always cold. It would of been great if it continued to work. Please don't waste your money on this product.

Broke the first time used, no response from company
by dani allison (2 out of 5 stars)

These worked for about 6 hours, then we tried to charge them again. The pins in the soles were bent so we couldn't connect them to the charging cable. We walked, no jogging no running nothing extreme. No reason for the pins to fail. I immediately notified the thermacell folks, wanted to know how to get them replaced. Amazon says thermacell, thermacell gives no response. I wish customer service was as important as it used to be.

Bought these for my husband last year. Worked ok ...
by Patricia J. Schmidt (1 out of 5 stars)
December 16, 2016

Bought these for my husband last year. Worked ok then, but this year nothing. Replaced the battery in the remote, did not matter. Plugged the insoles in to the charger, and the green light went off right away, meaning they were charged. Did the freezer test that was mentioned in a ThermaCell advertisement, and after 10 minutes they were frozen from the freezer. Would NOT advise these for anyone who wanted them to last for more then one year. Am looking for other inserts as he works outdoors and needs the heat in the winter. I am not talking about hunting in 30 degree weather, I am talking about working outside in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Not worth the money.
by Ashley (1 out of 5 stars)
February 3, 2018

I ordered these in the spring and didn't need them till winter. They do not get very warm or even stay mildly warm even in fully insulated boots. I would have returned them if the first time I used them was in the window. Do not waste your money on these. What a let down.
