Odd Lining Color and Material
by Cara B. (3 out of 5 stars)

The lining is kind of 90's prom dress/lunch box material. I try to hide it when I open the purse so no one sees. I'd also say the leather color is darker than pictured. Quality is good otherwise.

Beautiful exterior, flimsy interior
by Chic (3 out of 5 stars)
May 13, 2015

I've had this bag for over a year of almost daily use. I wanted to test it out for some time before writing a review.

This bag is roomy and convenient as a laptop carrier. I would not recommend it as a book bag replacement. Essential college supplies can all fit into the bag. There is enough space for my MacBook, a 2-inch binder, and a 1-inch textbook. However, this bag is very heavy with all these things in it. The bag alone carry a bit of weight and would stress your shoulders if you intend to use it daily.

The exterior: The colour is a rich, dark coffee that stays neutral with any outfit. The leather is supple yet durable and of good quality but does not stand on its own due to the weight of the bag. The straps are wide and fit comfortably over the shoulders but will dig into the shoulders if one carries anything more than a laptop. The studs give the bag an edge and a bit of structure.

Interior: The most disappointing feature of this bag is the interior lining and material. Although the colour is striking, the fabric is extremely poor quality. The seams are not well done and will come apart within a few uses. The interior pockets are very flimsy and did not hold my TI calculator--the weight of the calculator ripped right through the pocket. The pockets are not sewn together completely--there are holes on the sides, so pens will slip right through. I never use the pockets for this reason and found myself using the zipper pouch instead, although this compromises organisation. The additional pocket on the outside of the bag is convenient to carry phones and pens. Your items will fit snuggly enough so that they will not fall out.

With all of these things in consideration, I have had this bag for over a year with no major malfunctions. Interior pockets failed, but I never used them anyway and have overlook that. This bag is functional for daily use, but I wouldn't recommend it for a heavy load. Hope I helped!

Nice bag
by Eric Enriquez (4 out of 5 stars)
October 19, 2015

Ordered this after I returned the first one but had to go to the manufacturer site to figure out the details between each style. This one is leather, looks beautiful, holds all I need for my school stuff (small Mac, iPad, graphing calculator, a few books, etc). The straps would not be comfortable for carrying a long distance but since I don't need to then I'm ok with that. The addition of the clever zipper at the bottom of the outside pocket is great. Next time I'm traveling this will slip easily over the handle of my carry-on!

My reasons for 4 stars:
1) the lining does not seem like it will hold up but since it has a 5-yr warranty we shall see
2) having to return one bag due to false* description then having to go to the Solo website to find accurate descriptions was less than convenient
3) the shoulder straps will dig if I carry this for any length

"Contains chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive issues"? Nahhh I'll p

The bag is a nice size and has an overall nice appearance. The interior is an ugly blue but is spacious and large enough to fit my needs. The bottom of the bag is not "leather" but had 5 studs so it can sit on the ground. I'm not sure this is real leather at all but at first glance it might pass. My biggest concern was this ( see photo). Either way I'll be sending it back. Not real leather but looks like it might hold up.

Zippered top - roomy, professional appearing, neutral color, nice bag
by Island Lady (4 out of 5 stars)

Multi-task quite a bit between hospital, teaching class and research...needed something that is cute, yet practical for daily work use and reflect a level of professionalism. Something that will go well on my suit, but not too much if dressed casual. Not to mention, I needed to graduate from my one strap, sling backpack that was fraying and starting to fall apart. The dark brown is neutral and acceptable. The leather is also of nice grade and should be able to stand up to frequent use. The picture does not show it, but the top is zippered close, which is a great bonus and for me when it comes to securing my files. It fits my iPad and Mac book pro w/o bulking. Im 5'10" so the shoulder strap was of concern. However, fits quite comfortably w/o slipping off.
CON: as noted, the bag does not sit straight up when placed on flat surface, it keeps falling towards the front. Not sure can correct that. It's annoying, but I just turn the bag the other way so it leans on the wall/shelf (cost one star). After ordering and returning 6 bags...I'm pleased with this very practical, nice looking work bag.

Like it, Close to Loving It
by Joyce (4 out of 5 stars)

I'm glad I bought this bag. I bought it specifically for the bottom-zippered pocket that allows it to slide over a roller bag handle when unzipped. I have some suggestions for making the bag better. The interior pockets are flimsy because of the extreme lightweight fabric used in the interior. Pockets that hold their shape better would be very helpful for travel. Also, another outside pocket on the other side of the bag from the zippered pocket would help as well. I would also love other colors, particularly black and red.

Love this bag
by KB (3 out of 5 stars)

Update: I am changing my review of the bag from 4 stars to 3. As I've had it for about a year now, I'm actually starting to dislike it. The leather is wearing at the corners and it doesn't have quite enough space for everything I need to carry. And the falling over is driving me insane. Clearly I was blinded by the newness of the bag when I said it wouldn't prevent me from ordering again. It very much would. I'm already looking into a different work bag.

Really happy with this bag. I wanted a professional looking tote that would fit my water bottle, wallet, a book, and a few work essentials like my clipboard/notebook combo. And it had to zip and not have an obnoxious company logo on the front. This bag fits the bill and looks very nice. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it. It does have the company logo on it but it's so small I often don't notice it.

A lot of other reviewers mentioned that the bag falls over frequently, and this is true, so that's why I'm knocking off a star, but if I had to go back and buy this bag again I still would despite knowing about the falling over issue. I just prop it against the wall in my office or a chair if I'm out and about--the little metal feet help prevent the bottom from getting too soiled. And if it does fall over, well, it's zipped up so nothing falls out of it.

Great bag for business travel
by Stephanie S. (5 out of 5 stars)
October 23, 2016

I purchased this bag specifically for a business trip, and it served my purpose very well. I don't usually write reviews, but I was very pleased with this purchase and would like to share my experience to help those considering purchasing this item.

This bag met my following requirements:
1. Small enough to sit at my feet on an airline flight - qualifies as a "personal item" carry-on (for international flights)
2. Suitable for use as both a work bag and purse.
3. Fits over a small carry-on bag with a telescoping handle.

When I travel, I take both a checked bag and a carry-on suitcase in event that my checked bag is lost. I also like to carry a "purse" to keep track of boarding documents and things I need access to during the flight. This bag served my "purse" purpose extremely well. The pocket on the back that slips over the telescoping handle was *amazingly* convenient.

I stuffed this bag full to the brim, but I was still able to zip it closed with ease, which is a testament to the good construction and overall sturdiness of the bag.

The bag has a good amount of interior pockets and the turquoise lining is a nice touch. I tend to "lose" items in bags with a darker lining, but the contrasting material on the inside of this bag makes it easy to quickly identify items within it.

One thing to note: this bag is brown leather, and may be classified as a bit too "casual" for some types of business travel. If you need a bag that will go with "business professional" dress, you may need to look elsewhere.

Bottom Line: this bag improved my travel experience immensely; with it, I was able to navigate several international airports very smoothly.

perfect laptop tote for work and/or school
by Tracyann (5 out of 5 stars)

I've had my bag for almost three years now. I'm surprised I didn't leave a review sooner because I love it so much! It fits my laptop perfectly and all my other stuff. I do not need a purse. I do carry a separate lunchbox though, fyi.

It met all of my requirements at the time: It has feet, it's real leather, has a zipper closure, and the handles are well built and sturdy. Aaaand it looks good on my tall frame; I'm 6ft for reference. I love love love this bag and I would purchase another in a heartbeat. I can't recommend it enough. It travels well too because the outer pocket has a zipper underneath, so you can unzip and slide the bag over your carryon handle! Awesome!

The only thing I would change is the interior color and material. It's a very pretty blue nylon, but I think it cheaps it down a little. But no big deal, the bright colored interior allows you to find your stuff easier at the bottom of the bag. I also wish it came in black leather with gold or brass hardware; I would SO get another one heartbeat! Don't get me wrong, I love the chocolate brown leather! I'm saying I would get both and rock them all the time. Trust me, I get compliments all the time on this three year old bag that I literally wear everyday to school AND work... get it! you won't regret it.

Heaven in Leather
by Wendy Van Camp (5 out of 5 stars)

Having read the previous reviews about this bag's "flimsy lining", I put off ordering this leather laptop case while I looked around at other bags. However, the excellent price combined with the report of good leather (and frankly the exterior's good looks) made me pull the trigger. I'm glad I did! The scent of the leather is heavenly, the espresso color is a beautiful compromise between black and brown and should go with everything in my wardrobe. The handles are the perfect size for me to wear this on my shoulder and their rolled shape is more comfortable than the flat straps on my previous Solo laptop bag. The single outside pocket has the zipper on the bottom, so I should be able to pop this on my rolling book bag when I go to author signings and readings. It also fits a standard composition notebook when zipped closed with only a bit peeking out the top. The bronze/brass studs and zippers give the bag the more edgy look I was after, more fitting for an artist/author than a businesswoman.

I'm happy to say that the interior is acceptable to me. I had a cheaper vinyl Solo laptop case before and used it for over five years. The interior lining is a similar material and it held up well down through the years. The peacock blue is cheerful but dark enough that it should not be noticed by anyone but me, although I would have preferred the cherry red of my previous bag. The three interior pouches are large and sag, however, I found that I could slip my small bound dictionary and thesaurus combo in one pouch and that took the sag right out. My mouse is housed in another pouch and the third should hold my fountain pen case without a problem. The interior zipper pocket is roomy and is holding my pouch with small cables and other electronic dodads. The big stuff fits in the bottom without a problem and there is room to spare for a sweater or even a water bottle. The final test was the laptop section. It is padded on the sides with a crashpad on the bottom, so if need be, I could put a laptop in there without a case. I have a 14" Lenovo ThinkPad in a sleeve and it slid in as a perfect fit.

I am in heaven with this new Solo, slightly smaller and lighter weight, leather laptop bag. It is a true upgrade from my vinyl Solo bag and I'm looking forward to putting it to good use.
