I'm madly in love with this spork.

My trusty friend, a plastic Light My Fire spork, passed away last year. He lost a terrible fight with a particularly heavy textbook that took place in my backpack one day. We had spent so many happy times together--in the Tetons, on the Appalachian Trail, and countless packed lunches in college.

I mourned for an appropriate amount of time, and then I bought this as a replacement. So far, it's wonderful. I think we've been together long enough to say that it's past the honeymoon phase. It has the same functionality of my previous spork, with the added bonus of being a little less prone to breaking in half (and thus breaking my heart). We climbed Mount Olympus together. I really think this spork is The One, you know? I think I found my sporkmate!

Edit: Aug. 2015.

Two beautiful years together. Still going strong.

Edit: Aug. 2017.

Wow, time flies! From exciting trips to everyday packed lunches, there's still a spark between me and my spork. I can't believe we've lasted this long (mostly just surprised that I haven't lost it -- still sturdy and looks as good as new).

This year, I'm bringing the spork home for the holidays so my mom stops trying to set me up with people.

Not TSA friendly

Great product. Light, handy but maybe not the most comfortable tool to hold or use just because of the design. I've had in my carry on bag on a dozen flights, but it was confiscated by the TSA in Salt Lake City today. Was told the serration on the fork tine edge made it illegal to carry onboard the aircraft. Had to give it to them or risk missing my flight. Typical TSA. No standardization on enforcing the rules. I wanted to tell them my house key has larger and sharper ridges but I didn't want them to confiscate that too.

Vargo, Toaks, Light My Fire, Snow Peak
by Karl (4 out of 5 stars)

A nice short, fat, light and durable hiking utensil. I like it a little better than the long spork.

Attatched in a pick of my bunch of titanium forks. From left to right is Vargo, Toaks, Light My Fire, and two Snow Peaks.

Overall the ones with the main shape (true Sporks) are basically interchangable. The difference is in the handle shapes. The Snow Peak has the biggest scoop area, but only by slightly. I don't believe that it would have any functional difference. The feel of the thicker handles is a little better, but again, it's only a minor difference. So it's basically a 4-way tie just about with those. They are all long, light, and feel similar to regular silverware.

The Light My Fire two-sided spoon and fork combo is different. It has a true spoon and a true fork on each end, and a minimally serrated edge. That gives you more spoon area and more fork area which is quite useful. But, you sacrifice useable reach as you have to grasp it differently, and it has a different feel than typical silverware due to the shape.

Overall, pick what you like, they are all good and comparable.

Handy But Not Comfortable

For the backpacking enthusiasts, this spork is an impressive 3 utensils in one option that weighs very nearly, nothing (0.7 ounces). I bought it just about a year ago and used it a few times on camping excursions, but now I can give a thorough review of this as I recently moved and this was the ONLY utensil I owned upon moving to my new place. Over a month of fulfilling my daily spoon, knife and fork needs, and I can say that I'm not a huge fan. I do love using the spoon though. The fork is so well curved to the hand that it feels like an ergonomic type design. I find myself eating things I would usually eat with a fork, just so I have an excuse to use the most comfy spoon I have ever felt. However, this may also be due to the fact that eating with the fork is just plain awful. The edges of the spoon dig into your hand, forefinger, or any surface it comes into contact with quite uncomfortably, there is no way around it. I have also found the serrated edge of the fork to be useless as a knife. It won't even cut the pan-seared tortillas of my burritos let alone the pork chops I cooked up my first week here. I opt instead to use the comfy yet sharp edged spoon to cut through everything. It honestly works better than the "knife." This was the best spork I came across in terms of weight, functionality, and durability at the time. But there are several titanium options available now. I will be shopping around a bit more in the future. This one will do a great job until I find its replacement.

One of my favorite backpacking and for everyday use utensils!

One of my favorite backpacking and for everyday use utensils! After getting one for me to try it, I have bought maybe 7 or 8 more as presents. Light and durable, a bit uncomfortable to hold when using the fork, and will bend if too much pressure applied, but if used smart it will serve you for a very long time.

BEWARE of the seller Czech Curry- it's SCAM! Recently ordered two more and received couple of no-name, cheap tin ones - see the attached photos, the last one is a compare with my beloved real Light my fire spork. BUY ONLY FROM THE ORIGINAL SELLER!!!

Titanium spork.
by Eric (4 out of 5 stars)

Really light, perfectly serviceable design, much better than those tined spoons IMHO. Serrations on the side of the fork are a bit of a joke, they're stamped in so they're quite rounded, but that's why you have a pocket knife, right? The spoon half is pretty large, and in a pinch works just fine for stirring soup / scrambled eggs / whatever when you're cooking.

To be honest, it's really expensive for a fork and a spoon and the plastic ones of the same design work just as well.

OTOH it's fun and you will probably have the coolest spork on the block if you get it.

Spork envy. Don't let it happen to you.

Flimsy and cheap
by Jake (1 out of 5 stars)

These used to be quality, I had one that I ran over in a car and it was still just as strong. These ones now are so flimsy and thin, it's ridiculous. Just get the plastic ones instead, they'll last about a year of regular use before the plastic breaks down, compared to these, which you can only bend back so many times till it snaps. Also the sereted edge is useless, even the plastic ones can cut a steak. And if you consume pouched meals, you'll need a brush to clean the food out of the engraved logo.

Also fantastic for a person that can use just one hand

As a young baby boomer I was racing my oldest grandchild to an aquarium we were going to have a fun day. We tripped like otters I took an ambulance to a trauma Hospital, they went to the aquarium. I now have one functional hand it will be this way for a long time. The Light my fire is fabulous, lightweight, durable amd so easy to use. This product has changed my life. It has lifted my depression from being Split Second normal to one handed. don't know what I'm going to do or how I'm going to live. But now I know how I'm going to be able to eat. I love this I think every camper or every child every person should have at least one in there utensils for the kitchen. thank you so much to the inventor and designers that made Light my Fire.

Not Titanium....Absolute ripoff...terrible quality
by Jonathan (1 out of 5 stars)

This product is obviously made of cheap, thin aluminium and not titanium. The item is very thin and bends very easily. The "knife" portion is not beveled as pictured and came with broken teeth out of the box. Very poor quality and a waste of money.

This is fantastic.

This is not just a spork, but a unit with a fully defined spoon, fork, and serrated chopping cutting edge. it features gravity defying light weight yet it's strong given it's curved structure. it slices, cuts and penetrates as it is maybe 2 mm thick and does not distort under conventional use. It will never corrode. The spoon is generous with cereal, chili, mac, and even soup! I have sawed through steak tips and it effortlessly spikes meat and veggies. This is ergonomic and comfortable to use, not awkward to hold when cutting/slicing, pushing fork into, ladling, or spooning food. It has a coarse baked on finish in the grip area and does not easily slip from grip, yet it is easy to clean. it is not too large to handle and pack, yet it has enough reach to stir a deep bowl or single person pot. I am very impressed with the design and overall function as well as it's light weight and ideal size.
