Product Description
Brought to You by The Unemployed Philosophers GuildThe origins of the Unemployed Philosophers Guild are shrouded in mystery. Some accounts trace the Guild's birth to Athens in the latter half of the 4th century BCE. Allegedly, several lesser philosophers grew weary of the endless Socratic dialogue endemic in their trade and turned to crafting household implements and playthings. (Hence the assertions that Socrates quaffed his hemlock poison from a Guild-designed chalice, though vigorous debate surrounds the question of whether it was a "disappearing" chalice.)
Others argue that the UPG dates from the High Middle Ages, when the Philosophers Guild entered the world of commerce by selling bawdy pamphlets to pilgrims facing long lines for the restroom. Business boomed until 1211 when Pope Innocent III condemned the publications. Not surprisingly, this led to increased sales, even as half our membership was burned at the stake.
More recently, revisionist historians have pinpointed the birth of the Guild to the time it was still cool to live in New York City's Lower East Side. Two brothers turned their inner creativity and love of paying rent towards fulfilling the people's needs for finger puppets, warm slippers, coffee cups, and cracking up at stuff.

Freudian Slippers: Perfect for the Jung at Heart!by Bob Lewis (5 out of 5 stars)

These things really are great. They've made for great conversation pieces when I greet house guests. I was momentarily afraid I might have made a mistake in purchasing them when one such guest said "You Freudians! With you, if it's not one thing, it's your mother." But I reminded him that these slippers are much more credible than oedipal, so we eventually agreed that sometimes a slipper is merely a slipper. In all seriousness, these are quite amusing and make a perfect gift for a psychologist or psychology student. They're surprisingly comfortable and, while I don't wear them every day, they've lasted over a year so I'm pleased with how durably they're constructed.
Very funny, but sizing runs very small!

The Good:
These slippers are hilarious and were a big hit with my roommate who majored in psychology in college. They're better than a totally useless gag gift because these actually do have a function, even if they're not the highest quality slippers you can find. They're very silly and you're sure to get a laugh wearing these around or giving them as a gift.
The Not-So-Good:
The sizing is all kinds of messed up. When I ordered them, the website description said a size small would fit up to a US women's size 9.5. I was skeptical, but went along with it. I had to return the smalls and order mediums right away because they didn't even fit a US women's size 8! Even my own size 7 foot felt cramped; my heels were basically at the very edge of the soles and my toes were pushed as far forward as they could go, which is not a comfortable feeling for slippers in my opinion. The box had a different size chart than was on the website, and the charts on the size small and size medium boxes didn't even match each other! Here's what I would say is a more accurate size description (for US women, anyway): small = larger child's sizes through women's 6, medium = women's 7-9, large = women's 9.5 and up.
My only other complaint is the comfort/quality for the price. The slippers are very cute and silly looking, but honestly don't feel like they're going to hold up well and aren't the most comfortable things to walk in. They're honestly best for lounging around the house, not really walking around or even doing much housework.
Overall, these are really funny and decently made, I just wish the sizing was more accurate and that they were a little bit cheaper given the quality of the sole part of the slipper. Still worth buying though!
Our daughter loves these slippers. They keep her toes ...

Our daughter loves these slippers. They keep her toes warm, and the non-skid bottoms work well on bare floors. The only thing is that the size chart isn't quite right. If your foot size is near the border between size categories, go up to the next size. We had to do an exchange, but amazon makes that process so painless that it wasn't a problem, and in 5 days we had the new pair.

Good slippers, challenging sizing

Wonderful slippers, but the sizing was wrong. I'm a size 9 women's, and the small was too small. My fiancé also got a pair. He's a size 12-13 men's, and the large was too big. If you can get the right size, I totally recommend, but sizing is hard!
So comfy!

This is the second pair of these slippers I have purchased for my daughter because loved them and wore them out. Her hubby even stole them from her to wear himself. They are very comfortable and well-made. (not to mention they are hilarious and get a lot of compliments from guests.)

Super cute and comfortable
Fits not well enough that I hardly wear them

I ordered a Medium because I read they run big. They fit my feet that normally wear a 8-9, but my heel is right at the end and it's not comfortable. Not horribly uncomfortable but enough to make me rarely wear them. Would have returned them but I realized the discomfort after wearing them enough that I couldn't return them.
Otherwise, they're soft on the inside, good padding under the foot, hard sole for traipsing around on hardwood floors, toes tucked into the material that make the tongue kinda silly but still warm.
Quite Punny

My psychology class bought these as an end-of semester gift for our professor, and she loved them! They fit as expected, and are super soft.
