The extent of Amazon's grenade knife description: "Looks like a grenade." Hmmm...sold! I'm such an easy target for advertisers. Don Draper could probably sell me a pile of gorilla shit. He could probably sell me a ticket... [Read more]

I received a faulty knife but seller replaced it.

I bought this knife from "Unlimited Wares, Inc" so I want to make it clear people that I'm using my experience with this particular seller for my review. I was in the market for a small pocket knife that I could use for simple things like opening up packages or boxes at work. I wasn't looking for anything too big either because I wanted something that I could carry in public just in case I need it for protection. I browsed through a whole catalog of knives but when I saw the design and shape of this MTech knife I was sold. The grenade design makes the knife look very modern and definitely fun to show off to friends. I love the shape of the blade it has a very unique look. The blade is made out of stainless steel and it feels like it will hold up very well when in use. The body of the knife is made out of very sturdy metal parts and the green color makes it stand out. Opening and closing the knife is very simple and shouldn't be a problem for anybody unless the knife is faulty. The reason I say that is because when I received this knife in the mail the packaging seemed used. When I opened up the box to take a look at the knife the item looked like it was used before. The knife had scratches and scuffles on the body and on the actual blade as well. When I would open and close the knife the blade would get stuck at times making it hard for me to use the knife. The blade was very dull and I couldn't even cut through paper. I immediately got in contact with the seller and I let them know about my issue. The seller was quick to respond and was very sorry about my inconvenience. They asked me to send them pictures of the knife which I had no problem doing so. I later got a response letting me know that they would send out a replacement knife which made me whole. I received a new knife in the mail and this time it came in new condition unlike the previous one. In the end I walk away from this transaction very pleased because the knife overall is awesome. It's a very stylish and compact pocket knife that will make a great addition to your arsenal. I also give kudos to the seller for making sure I was made whole by replacing the faulty knife.

sturdy blade and handle

by Marjorie's hubby: My son gave me this for Christmas. I'm impressed with the sturdy metal grip and VERY firm liner lock. I like a lock I can trust. I keep this by the fireplace and cut up cardboard and other stuff to jam in the stove. Also whittle kindling sometimes. Works well tho the grip is a little sharp if you bear down hard on it. But STURDY handle and blade. That can't be said for a lot of knives from China. I haven't really worked on the edge a lot but its getting thru quite a bit of corrugated boxes etc. Its a little heavy for a pocket knife but I have carried it a bit. Its flatness makes it surprisingly unobtrusive in my pocket along w all the other junk I carry. Its a lot more practical than I expected when I first unwrapped it. I'm pleased with it.

This knife IS VERY well built it is sharp enough to cut through my dreams and save me

From the nightmares within and I had a smaller version in black a different brand and when that one was lost this one just caught y full attention and I do not regret te buy at all this knife has been there through the worst with me. It has been there through my stay in the pine barrens during

hurricane Sandy and it has been there through all the times I have needed a tough sturdy tool and I Love it

The bomb

This is a really cool knife. It looks like a grenade when closed but I'm not going to throw it. I like it too much. It also has a nice sharp blade. It was bigger than I thought it would be which was a nice suprise. It will look good with the rest of my collection. The green on mine was a little darker than the one in the picture but it actually looks better. It's funny that it says MTech USA on one side of the blade but also says handcrafted in China on the other side. It's a really nice knife. Very well made! There were no flaws that I could find. I recommend it.

Technical stuff follows.
3 1/2" when closed.
6" when open.
1 3/8" width of blade and handle.
440 steel blade and not sure about the handle but it is metal.

Check out my video.

Cool Knife. Built well.

The steel isn't especially high quality but, I mean, it's like 8 bucks. And it's shaped like a grenade. It's still shaped like a grenade. Actually, I should point out what you can't tell from the photo is that there are no plastic parts. The grenade grip thing is either steel or hard anodized aluminum. I could read it on the description it probably says but I don't feel like it. But it's durable. It would probably even keep you alive in the woods for a few days. I wouldn't bank on a few months.

Great novelty but poor finishing
by John F. (3 out of 5 stars)

My 11yo daughter is starting to collect knives and likes to play Call of Duty. I thought this grenade shaped knife would be a neat gift for her. She likes it for what it is (a novelty knife) however I have to give it 3 stars ('just okay') mainly due to it's poor finishing. I understand it's cheap but the green paint is chipped around the pivot screw and along the top edge of the grenade. Poor finish but a decent novelty gift.

Amazing knife and good collectors item
by awesome (5 out of 5 stars)

I have had this for about a year now and it is still in amazing shape. Although it is a bit smaller than most knives and might not fit into someone with hands bigger than maybe 5 in., it is still very sharp and a good collectors item. However, don't expose it to any flame or else the black coloring on the blade will come off. I once held a lighter under it in hopes of it cutting through something "easier" and the ink rubbed off onto my fingers when I felt it.

Highly reccommended

I LOVE this. I got them for all of the men in the family as stocking stuffers and they loved them, I ended up buying one for myself too. It is a good size so you can actually use it as a pocket knife without it looking bulky in your pocket. It is also super sharp, so it is not just for show.
