Product Description

Neater Feeder is the world's first pet feeding system for dogs and cats that contains spills and splashes and separates spilled food from spilled water. Spilled water drains into the lower reservoir while spilled food stays off the floor, so it can be safely reused or easily discarded! Created for dogs weighing 30-100 pounds and includes one 7 cup stainless steel food bowl and one 9 cup extra capacity stainless steel water bowl. Also included are a set of 4 non-skid inserts. The Neater Feeder for Large Dogs has a standard bowl height of 8 inches. Taller dogs at the upper end of this weight range may be more comfortable with Leg Extensions (sold separately), which raise the bowl height to 11-inches. Made from recyclable polypropylene plastic and is top rack dishwasher safe!

The Neater Feeder Deluxe for Large Dogs also is compatible with the Neater Pet Brands Slow Feed Bowl, which is sold separately.

Features

  • MESS PROOF, SPILL PROOF, & KICK PROOF - Spilled food is separated and contained at the top of the dog feeder, while spilled water drains into the catch basin below to keep your dog’s feeding area neat and clean.
  • MADE FOR MEDIUM DOG BREEDS - Designed for medium dog breeds like Beagles, Corgis, and Bulldogs. The Neater Feeder has a 5” feeding height (at bowl rim) that is ideal for your dog’s comfort. It also has a contoured design that allows easy access to the bowl area. Includes (1) 3.5 cup food bowl and (1) 5 cup extra capacity water bowl.
  • SAVE TIME CLEANING - Thanks to its splash-proof raised walls, spills and messes are completely contained within the raised feeder. The feeder also comes with non-skid rubber feet to prevent sliding and additional splashing. This means less time spent mopping floors and wiping down walls.
  • EASY TO CLEAN - All parts of this elevated feeder, including stainless steel dog bowls as well as top and bottom basins, are 100% dishwasher safe. The Neater Feeder is Made in the USA. The stainless-steel bowls are made in India.
  • ELEVATED FEEDER - This feeder is raised to provide your dog with a more comfortable feeding position. Using an elevated feeder also helps with digestion and reduces joint pain. Neater Feeder for Medium Dogs measures 18” L x 11” W x 10” H (with a 5” feeding height) and is compatible with the size Medium Neater Feeder Leg Extensions if extra height is desired.
  • PATENTED & PATENTS PENDING - You can only get our floor-saving design with an official & authentic Neater Feeder.

Bowl capacity stinks! But, here's a HACK →→
by Customer Since 1998 (5 out of 5 stars)
April 23, 2017

This review is probably going to help a dog owner that's looking to save money, but it also should help cat owners that worried about all the negative reviews about bowl size. That group may actually decide to get this instead of eliminating it from their choice. And let's face it, there are not really any similar feeders on the market at any price point. It's almost as if the company understands this exclusivity and is taking advantage of dog owners by exploiting this relative shortage of other options. If I was a dog owner and read this review after spending double the amount for the dog bowl I would be very unhappy. The cost difference between a shallow vs standard silver insert bowl is nearly non-existent so does not justify the huge gap in pricing. However, I am not going to believe there is any nefarious reasoning in their marketing strategy, so don't read this as accusatory please.

I love this feeder, but not as it is shipped. It earned 5 stars because I had on hand what I needed to get it into proper working order. The star I removed for ambiguity in pricing was won back by the function of the product. So while one should be warned that this plastic feeder does not look like the image - which makes it look like deep gloss metal - you will love it. If you don't have such deep expectations on appearance alone, this really is a great unit! Don't get me wrong. It looks fantastic for what it is. Plastic can look like garbage or great high quality. This is for sure on the upper end.

I was very concerned that these bowls were not going to hold enough after reading some comments. It would defeat the purpose I had for this feeder if the bowls were not "standard". I did not want to go through the return process so I read the questions and answer section and noticed the Neater Feeder Company Representative had responded to a question about capacity with the suggestion to buy the "small dog" variation. At the time I bought this, the small dog in red was double the price! That's when I dug into the specs and saw that it appeared that the base housing on the variations were exactly the same. However, the food capacity of the dog unit was much larger. Hmm. How can that be? Then I realized it must be a different sized silver insert. As I mentioned, I did not want to have to return it but was much more comfortable that this could be hacked so i took the chance and ordered it.

Turns out my suspicions were accurate.. Therefore, if you are like many pet owners you probably already have extra, deeper silver bowls on hand and thus can use those with this frame. If not, you can find these inserts at Walmart or Dollar stores on the cheap. If you are getting a dog one, buy the cat bowl instead. The silver bowls they ship with the cat version are very shallow variations that I have never seen before. I simply put those in a drawer and used the silver inserts from the elevated bowls I was replacing with this unit. The size of all of these bowls are universal, and the space underneath this feeder is deep enough to accommodate the deeper bowls.

A caveat - when I ordered the red one, it was $20 and the dog one was $40 with the only difference being the size of the cheap silver insert. In that case then doing this hack is a no-brainer. But when I came online to write this review I saw a tan version of the dog bowl that was cheaper than this red cat bowl. In that case it makes sense to buy the tan bowl if you can live with that color. The point is that this hack can work either way so check out all the colors and price iterations of this feeder because you could end up saving as much as 100%.

Plastic frame is great. The bowls are garbage.
by Chris (3 out of 5 stars)

The bowls have already rusted after a month. The actual plastic frame is great but the bowls are cheap. You can tell the company tried to save money for a greater margin by sacrificing quality on the bowls. Very cheap and disappointing. Rusting should not be happening after a month of use. I would have given this 0 start but the plastic fame is fantastic and does exactly as advertised. Just factor the cost of new bowls when purchasing this product.

Best food and water bowls we have ever used!
by JB (5 out of 5 stars)

This is seriously the best water and food bowls out there. We got the large size for our 85 lb Boxer who is almost 9 and very messy. We have always just used a boot mat with a towel on the ground that we change out daily. Since we have a toddler that loves to get into the spiked water in the boot tray we needed something different. I wish we would have had this bowl back when we got him as a puppy because it would have saved us from constantly cleaning his watery drool mess all these years. We are using both of his bowls for water since he drinks so much and we just keep his food bowl under it when he is not eating since it fits perfectly. We deided to get out little dog (7lbs) one too since our toddler is always going her food bowl and hiding it and since we were getting rid of the big shared water bottle and didn't think she would be able to easily drink for the large size bowl. She loves it! Itmis just the perfect height and size for her to easyly eat and drink from. Since we loved these two bowls so much we orderd another small bowl for our cat since he likes to make a mess with his food in our kids bathroom. I really recommend these bowls since they work so well and look so much nicer in our house. My husband actually said these were the best purchase we have made in a very long time!

I purchased the cranberry and my German Shepard uses it without droping food and spilling water anymore. Looks great in my kitchen. Had to purchse the extension legs since it wasn't tall enough without them.

Best Design! My kitten and 1 year old cat ...
by J. Kim (5 out of 5 stars)

Best Design! My kitten and 1 year old cat both love this. First, my cats are messy eaters. The kitten manages to fling her food about and the other one just drops bits and pieces everywhere. This awesome design, catches everything! Leaving no mess to cleanup! However, my cats like it so much (they are pigs - and eat every drop of food) because any bits that fly about - they get to pick the pieces up when they're done and they do an amazing job cleaning things up. It's hilarious to watch them move the dishes so they can collect the bits and pieces. Bottom line, this is an amazing design that catches water and food and your kitties will love it! Worth every penny. (Pics: My cats using it....you can even see that my kitten when she was tiny had no problem hopping right in to collect her bits and pieces, lol)

I wish I could give it TEN stars for my English Mastiff!!!!
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)

155lb English Mastiff.

Drool.

A LOT of drool.

Drinking *always* creates drool slingers that trail all over the floor of kitchen into living room. For over four year now there have been slime trails schmearing the entirety of the 1st floor of our house... >sigh<. Normal bowls, even non-skid ones, when setting on the floor, are hard on his neck to bend all the way down, and certain shapes of bowls are challenging for his muzzle shape to eat from (if they are too flat with an inside edge.) Yeah, there are cheap ways to elevate the bowls, a stool or fancy raised feeders- but those simply raise the trajectory for drool and the outlaying damage control area-- which has a blast radius of roughly 3 feet on the floor, and if you raise the bowls and it increases instantly to FIVE feet in every direction.)

Enter: DA DA DAAAA!!! THE NEATER FEEDER, with a cape and it's own musical theme... clap clap clap etc etc to infinity!

I resisted paying $50+ for a plastic molded feeder for all kinds of unfounded reasons. I am a fool. It's not too small for him, the extended water bowl is deeper and holds enough water for his sloshing thirst, the splash guard back helps him keep his head still and less flinging if any distractions take his attention back and forth from his water bowl. His normal kibble dribble around the bowl and into his water dish is greatly reduced, and I can actually tell his enjoyment and facility of eating from this contraption has increased.

It will go everywhere with us. I might even strap it to his backback and make him carry it on our Adirondak backcountry trips. Ok, well probobly not, but we REALLY LOVE IT.

THIS IS THE BEST MONEY I HAVE EVER SPENT ON MAKING MY LIFE AND MY DOG'S LIFE LESS MESSY, COMFORTABLE AND HAPPIER!

Got the extenders.

All this love after only one week of use. I have *never* been motivated to write a product review before in my life. Only b!tchy negative ones for crappy design/poor function/construction/etc. If a product works as it should, it doesn't make me jump for for joy, that's what I paid my hard earned mula for- I expect it to do what it should and it rarely meets all of it's promotional claims. I settle for basic function often leaving a lot to be desired and me thinking of at least 5 ways that product could and should be improved.

This thing is the bomb doggity digity and does everything it claims- as is. I can't think of ANY improvement for *my* dog.
(Note: I truly hope the maker comes out with an XL and even XXL size for large breeds because my baby is runt of an English Mastiff @ 155'. Newfies, Great Pyranees, St. Bernards, Cane Corsos, Danes- they NEEEEEED this!!!)

I

LOVE

MY

NEATER

FEEDER

Hardwood Saver!
by Laura (5 out of 5 stars)

You guys, this is like the best thing ever. We have a mediumish/largeish terrier/Labrador mix. He's enthusiastic about his food and water, to say the least. That's the polite way to say it anyway. What I really mean is ohmygosh is that dog ever a mess! Kibble flies, water drips. I had his bowls on one of those rubber food mat things, but that didn't really contain the water mess. We have gorgeous bamboo floors that I love, so I was always paranoid and checking to make sure I got all the water wiped up and that there was no water underneath the mat, because I didn't want it to damage the floors.

I had actually found the Neater Feeder Deluxe for Small Dogs in Cranberry by Neater Pet Brands first, when we got a new rescue puppy and I needed supplies for her. I decided to order it first, because it was cheaper, and if it worked to order the bigger one. I hadn't even had the small one for eight full hours before I was ordering this one too. Now I don't worry about water dripped all over my pretty floors anymore!

Better than I thought it would be!
by Anon (5 out of 5 stars)

My 85lb malamute is a messy drinker. Half the water always ended up on the floor surrounding and some drops would occur as he walked away. I ended up getting a rubber mat that was fairly large and it still had hidden water underneath. It was still a problem. I was concerned this wouldn't work too well, especially for his tendency to take some water with him. I didnt like any of the other bowls for various cleaning issues. I wasnt entirely sold on the aestetics of this either. Amazingly it works without flaw and looks better once I got it home. I think because it takes him an extra second to lift his head up and over the side walls, the water has more time to fall inside the product. Regardless, the water in the bottom supports the idea. Whatever it is, it is not a problem anymore. And since he is fed twice a day I fill up both bowls with water and have a separate bowl for feeding times. Not only does it lift his head for better digestion (I know it's just water) but no more wet floor, drops, or standing water underneath a mat that gets dirty and gross quick. I notice one or two drops randomly but it's leaps better than before and his muddy paw prints are worse than a couple drops of water.

Buy it! Worst case scenario you send it back. I was also concerned because of the 60 dollar price tag. That's a lot of money for a water dish. But it eliminated a problem I now don't have to clean up with or concern myself with. It would probably sell quicker ten dollars less at least.

Update: It's over a year later and my satisfaction is still 100 percent. I have NO water (aside from an occasional drop or two) and the amount of water that falls below the dishes into the "trap" is proof that it works. The water that ends up there is all the water that was usually on the floor which was about 25% of the water in the bowl. Its large enough (I got the large) to hold the water so I only have to dump it once a week. This is one of my best purchases and it's essentially an object that holds water. I love this small miracle! Aesthetically the color was no problem and I dont think twice about it. I'd buy all over again without hesitation. You NEED this if you are having water bowl problems. It may be a bit pricey for you but I have no regrets. Its paid for itself in sanity saved.

I previously purchased one in brown but purchased a second one in cranberry for my new cat. They both like to remove a few bits of dry food and crunch them over the floor away from the bowl, so I have put placemats underneath both. At night I give them wet food, and the feeder tray is great for catching flyaway bits and splashed water (my younger cat likes to paw at the bowl...to make sure the water's there?). I am happy to use metal bowls and clean them frequently, and end up taking apart and cleaning the whole thing only as necessary. I have attached a photo of my younger cat to demonstrate the size - he about 8 months and just over 8 pounds, for reference :)

Great feeding system
by kimh (5 out of 5 stars)

Great quality. Sturdy design. Bowls hold well over 3 heaping cups of food with no problem. Unit doesn't scoot around due to the rubber inserts on the bottoms of the legs. No spills or splatters on floors or walls. Neat grate in front of bowls to allow for messes to be channeled below bowls to a catch tray underneath. Great for our large collie. I would recommend this product to anyone.
