Use it for a garbage bag insteadby J. Futchko (1 out of 5 stars)

Utter junk. Don't be fooled by the picture. It will NOT stand up like that. Instead it WILL lay flat and spill anything more than a bald man's hair that falls into it onto the floor. after trying numerous ways to get it to stand up we gave up and I bought a normal cape and will just sweep the kitchen floor again. There is a more expensive version from Japan that seems to get decent reviews, but not worth extra price and shipping.
You might try using one of those dog collars, because that would work better than this.
Works just fine.

I've looked for a hair catcher to replace the old one I have used for years. They are hard to find, so I was glad when this one became available. For those who wrote that it doesn't form a trough to catch the hair, I wonder if they had used it yet. It seems flat, but once it is placed on the person's shoulders and pushed down, the trough forms nicely. It's not quite as deep as the picture, but it certainly is deep enough to keep the hair inside it. It's possible that this works best on an adult. I cut my husband's hair, so maybe on a child it would work differently. But it seems it would be about the same. When I'm finished with the haircut, I take the hair catcher off, walk to the porch, and tip the hair into the flowerbed where it disappears.
Agreed...Misleading

Would be a great idea if only it worked. Well, maybe it would work if my son was Sasquatch sized. Both the Neck opening and support straps that are to make it umbrella are to big/long.
With the aid of a safety pin to make the neck opening fit and sinched the ring strips in to make the umbrella effect it was great to not have to pick hair up off the floor after cutting.
Advice to maker for improvements:
- Add more velco to make the large neck opening usable for all
- Provide adjustment aid to help sinch the ring straps so that the umbrella effect can be realized whether the persong has NFL football player shoulders of if they are a child.
So for this current implementation, I'd rate it a Fail...
A must have!!!

Very good item to have around the house, it folds easily and when misshaped it straightens out when unfolded. Been using it for many years & not a tear!!!! It looks very cheep & you might be skeptical but it does the job very well! I wanted to order another as a gift but they all sold out in catalogs & online, if you find one please share a link :)

The umbrella is nothing like the picture. It does not turn up around the edge and is of no use in catching the hair clippings. If it wasn't such a hassle I would send it back.
It's an absolute joke - will NOT keep hair from falling on the floor, a plastic trash bag with a hole cut in it for your head would work just as good!
Works, but could be better

This product worked and we didn't have hardly any hair to clean up.
That being said, some small changes could make it much better. The way it came, it just went down over my shoulders. I had to tie the ropes to make them shorter, much shorter, so that it would curve up and hold the hair (and I have broad shoulders). If the connection ropes had some snaps, etc. it would be much easier to adjust.
The head hole was also quite large and we had to tuck parts in so hair wouldn't go through the hole.
Again, it works, but you will have to play with it a bit to get it to work for you.

Doesn't look exactly like the photo but it's okay. I use this often for wheelchair bound salon patients. It helps a lot. Have not figured best bending of the wire to look exactly like the photo shown.

I purchased this product and it was missing the adjustable hooks and tabs to make it function properly. It was replaced and the second one was also missing the adjustable hooks and tabs so this item could not function properly. It doesn't do what the picture shows it to do.

Easy to put on and clean up with, but after taking it off I'd still find that hair had gotten down to the base of my boyfriend's neck. Made for less of a mess for sure though!

I didn't get what i got in the picture but it was similar. My bf has to hold it up in order to catch all the hairs falling. It won't stay up on it's own. but does it's job if the person in it holds it up
