Yeah, old school cork screws are a bi*ch. Instant carpal tunnel, not to mention shredded or incompletely dislodged corks. But there are a lot of steps in between the traditional handheld cranker and this, an electric... [Read more]Top Reviews
Don't bother. Horrible Customer Service. Poor Product.by thomas b. (1 out of 5 stars)

When I first saw this wine opener I had a, "I've got to have it moment." After purchasing this item I was in heaven, opening wine bottles was a breeze, the foil cutter is awesome, and I love the long battery life on this opener. I loved this product so much I bought multiple for gifts for friends/family members. 6 months later, the down button (which removes the cork from the bottle) stops working, knowing that Oster aka Sunbeam Products aka Jarden Consumer Solutions has a 1 year limited warranty (stated in product manual) I wasn't worried. I emailed customer service about my issue, 3 weeks later I got a response requesting information in order to process the return. The same day I respond to the email with all the information asked, another week goes by without a response. I email customer service to make sure they received my email with all my information and not only did they let me know they did receive my email but the product was "no longer covered under warranty". I responded to customer service with the exact words from their handbook stating that their product has a one year warranty and have yet to get a response. So if you are thinking about purchasing this wine opener, keep scanning for something else. This is not the one for you.
TLDR; Don't buy this product, it is not made well and customer service isn't interested in fulfilling their warranty.

I had to change my review here. I bought this product in May and it already is a lemon which is a polite way to put it. It worked well enough for about six weeks but now refuses to open bottles. I say this meaning when you press the down button (which pulls out the cork) nothing happens. No sound, no motion, no nothing. I have this thing fully charged too.
I contacted the seller and requested a replacement and have heard radio silence from them.
Best $17 I've ever spent....after I read the manual!

At first I thought mine was broken but I was doing it wrong!
1. Cut the wrapper with the cutter that it comes with (little loop hooked onto the back of the charger stand).
2. PUSH DOWN ON THE WINE OPENER WITH PRESSURE while pressing the down arrow button as you hold the bottle as well.
3. Once the wine opener feels a little loose, that means the cork is out.
4. Remove the wine opener to reveal the open bottle.
5. Press the upward arrow to release to cork.

I like to keep a simple on my reviews and only answer what people really care about. I do not get free or discounted products for review, you will get my unbiased review of product.

Stopped working after 6 weeks

This is the third one of these that we've had, and I'll have to look for a different brand for the next one. The first one worked for a couple of years (2013-2014), and when it stopped working, we didn't replace it quickly. Then the next one worked for a year, and we didn't replace it quickly (our favorite wine has a screw top); we only use it about once a month. I bought this one in June, and it stopped working in the middle of July. It is stored in an out of the way place, it is always plugged in, it's clean, it's safe, and it's unreliable. My return window ran out on July 1st, so here I am with a practically new device that doesn't work, and I have no recourse. As far as function, it's great. As far as reliability, it's isn't.
Used To Be Amazing...

First, I would like to start off by saying this is the third wine bottle opener from Oster that I have purchased and the same model. I had to buy replacements because the first one I damaged myself by inserting it into the cork a bit crooked, and the second I carelessly left in a hotel room.
I truly enjoyed this wine bottle opener, which is why I went back to it again. I believe it is well priced for the product and does the job easily and efficiently. Much easier than the do-it-yourselfers where you have to work hard to get the bottle open!
For some reason, the one I purchased in late March 2017 just won't hold a charge and I followed the instructions per the user guide. When I try to use it, the cork takes a long time to come out of the bottle and then the mechanism will not release the cork so I have to manually work it out myself making it much more difficult than a handheld. As for a return, it's far past the date. You only get a month to return it to Amazon. When I called customer service at Oscar, the line had six callers ahead of me and I just don't feel this product is worth the time and effort to go through the motions of getting a warranty replacement. I'll just try something new!
Terrible Wine Opener That I Can't Return

Terrible wine opener. I have tried using this opener twice and it only pulls the cork out half way and I have to use a manual opener to get the cork out. Unfortunately, I'm now told that I can't return the item. Don't buy this. I'll stick with the old fashioned manual opener and save myself the trouble.
I am buying another one because I loved it so much

My old one finally broke after about 10 years of accelerated and VERY CONSISTENT use! I am buying another one because I loved it so much. I don't need the neon, pretty models that do all sorts of extra stuff. I just want my darned wine opened, and pronto. I am happy to report this opener is even easy for the wine opener operator to use after consuming many, many, bottles of wine in one evening. Just put it on the bottle and push the button and the cork is removed. Then if you have any left over energy and motivation you push the button in the opposite direction and the cork pops out of the opener. One night it was even tried it on a can of beer. However, it does not work as effectively on beer cans. It wasn't me that tried opening a can of beer with this wine opener. I am writing this review for a friend. (wink) Thank goodness for Amazon Prime and 2 day shipping!!!.....
Died out in a year

Update!!! Ours lasted right about a year before it stopped working. It's super bulky and takes up counter space, and now it's taking up space in the dump!
This does the job just fine, but it is really big. Our last one stopped working after 3 or 4 years, but it just plugged right into the wall with a cord on its own. The new one has a stand that takes up a lot of space, and the whole thing seems a bit bulky. I do like that the foil cutter is not attached to the handheld unit because our last one broke off within weeks, and this one is just stored in the base.
Very disappointed in the quality of this product

We have had this for about 5 months and have opened about 10 bottles of wine. Then it broke and will not work. 10 bottles!!!! Very disappointed in the quality of this product. I should say don't buy it, but I'm not that kind of person. Make your own choice. We may have gotten a bad one. Who knows. I tried calling and had no luck with the company. WOW!!
