My father loved these for his birthday. The bottle opener works without worry and, even if they are not ever used as a tool, they function much better than standard plastic collar stays!

I bought some of these for myself ages ago and loved them so much that I got this set for my dad. The bottle opener is a bit rubbish, but does work, while the thread cutter is completely useless unless you sharpen it yourself.

This is a great groomsman gift. Especially if you have people traveling to the wedding, no large custom glassware or a knife or whatever to drag home on a plane. My brother thought they were so cool, I would definitely buy this again for a gift. They work, they are very handsome and extremely sleek looking. The box is a good presentation although maybe not for storage.

These are fantastic. I bought them for my husband and he loves them. Well made and we both get a kick out of finding reasons to pull them out to use the different features. The bottle opener has been handy on more than one occasion!

20150323 - The advertised pictures clearly show encarved rulers. However, the two pairs I've just received do not have any marks on them. The material is sturdy and light. They are even in a nice metal case looking like a business card holder. But I am very disappointed that I don't see the ruler feature that I was looking forward to use often. Vender Exuvius! Make this right and earn your five stars!!!
20150324 - Vender Exuvius sent me a kind e-mail saying that the set I received was definitely not the standard set. Exuvius apologized for the rare error/mistake. Exuvius will not only send me the correct product but also offered me to keep the set with error. I am pleased with their prompt response and remedy to make things right. For that, I give three stars. I will definitely bump up the stars to the max when I receive the right product.
20150328 - The proper ruler etched set has arrived. A deck of Exuvius card was included as a gift, too. I even got a hand written apology note. Problems/errors/mistakes might be inevitable since we are humans, but the way you take care of what you face determines how dedicated you are. Exuvius! You made me a happy & satisfied customer. I actually ordered two different items from Exuvius, one I got as advertised (Collar Stays x2), but the Collar Stays x4 have absolutely zero etching, they are missing the ruler on both sides and the "Exuvius" on the one side. These are not as advertised. As I need these for my wedding, they are gifts I need things as advertised. I wished they all matched. I am including a picture of the merchandise, and you can clearly see the front and back of the items, which are not as described. I have written another review for the Collar Stays x2 and it's night and day in what the etching does to the product. The two with the etching actually feel different, they feel complete....the ones without just feel like a punched blank piece of metal.
****UPDATE 04/25/2015****

Aside from Amazon's horrible customer-seller contact interface, (I actually went to the manufacturer's website and contacted them that way). Once in contact with the manufacturer, I promptly received correct replacements. Because I appreciate the swift response and pro-active approach (they sent the replacements before I even contacted them). These replacements are perfect! That is also why I updated my review from 1 star to 5.

So, I've wanted these for quite a while and finally had an opportunity to buy them. For work I wear almost exclusively point collar type shirts that need ironing and collar stays to look sharp. (I don't have time to iron.)

So I bought these because the plastic freebies that come with most shirts bend easily and are really hard to keep track of. I figured if I spent more on the item... I would keep better track of them. (Like I do with my sunglasses.)

These collar stays are a quality item. The packaging and the presentation make that clear. They are thick, about three times thicker than the plastic stays I was using earlier. They are exceptionally light for all that. I was expecting more heft but find myself, once again, surprised by the lightweight nature of titanium.

As far as being a tool goes these things seem to work very well. I love (and I can't stress this enough) the thread cutter. I hate so-called "Irish pennants" and having a tool to get rid of those easily and quickly: 100% worth the cost of entry. The stays are solid and thick and I know I could use them, in a pinch, to unscrew something. (I also have a feeling they would make excellent tools for opening boxes or letters, if need be.) I have not, sadly, had an opportunity to use them as a bottle opener yet.

They work great as collar stays but on a thin or more pointed collar they may not be able to go to the tip.

The only snag (if you'll pardon the pun) so far is that sometimes the part that is intended for opening bottles and cutting threads can get caught while trying to remove it from the shirt.

Overall: I feel ready for a secret mission.

Initially Exuvius sent me the wrong set of collar stays (they sent me a blank set with no ruler markings), but they more than made up for it by not only sending me correct set, but also letting me keep the mistake set AND they gave this epic set of playing cards called the "Upper Hand". It even included a HANDWRITTEN note apologizing for the mistake. Top marks for customer service!

They stays themselves are awesome, as is the case they come in. They are legit titanium, the weight it right (almost feather like), the feel is smooth, and they are STRONG. A friend and I at work tried to break them but couldn't.The packaging is also perfect and well thought out.

I picked up some discounted, normally over $100, shirts from Amazon and needed some nice collar stays. So, I got these.

What I love about these collar stays is that they are tools, but also provide functionality in which they were intended. I have used these to open bottles, and although they aren't as quick as using a dedicated bottle opener, they do work. They're also great conversation starters.
-Random stranger (struggling to open bottle): Ugh, I can't open this.
-Me: It's a twist off.
-Random stranger: Oh
-Me (Instead of twisting it off for them): Here, try this. (Very nonchalantly pulling out a collar stay). Try this. It's titanium!

The collar stays arrived in clean and nifty packaging good enough to give as gifts. Except for a few minor hairline scratches on 2 out of the set of 4 (probably from the manufacturing process and not a big deal), they are all new, nice and shiny, lightweight titanium, overall strong-looking and impressive. Definitely a satisfying man's tool. In addition to using them myself, I will be buying another set in a different color and material so that I can swap 2 of them to give a good buddy(as well as myself) a set of 4 that has 2 + 2 in different types. I hope the seller soon starts offering such combinations as well.

I received these in a very swanky little case but they don't have the ruler. Would've liked to have as pictured but they're still quite nice. Let's be honest, you're paying for novelty, elegance and feeling/looking good. It'd be nice to have the full effect with the ruler just for the sake of having it.

Bought these thinking they were exactly like the picture. NOPE! Mines came as blank silver and didnt have the black coating with etched inches and cm measurements.

After contacting the manufacturer, they informed me that it was an accident in their end, these collar stays were old and the right ones did have the measurement etchings like in the picture. They were completely puzzled themselves about how it could've possible been sent out. But, thankfully, their customer service was top notch. After exchanging some emails, and even when I had to go on abroad for work, they even offered to mail them to my address overseas. Now that's a sign of a great company.

Just beware, while the 7 pictures do appear like they are black, look closely, its actually silver but reflecting the dark background around it. I suggested to the company to put (silver) in the title just to avoid future confusion, but in the mean time, I hope this information helps everyone. I personally wanted the black ones, but they came in stainless steel only, which was fine for me. The company was more than happy to replace them for me.

Excellent product. None of the features will be your go-to tools because of their scale and the lack of leverage, but everything works. The fact that these exist at all puts a smile on my face pretty frequently.
