Product Description

Pain is good batch #218 Louisiana style hot sauce-deep in the bayou on the edge of the swamp, gators sun, crawfish boil and toffee simmers. It was there that Cajun hot sauce was born of cayenne and tabasco peppers, where the term 'coonas' meant french heritage and hot food. That heritage has transcended the past that pushes through the portals of time to heat, to flavor and to mardi gras.

I actualy ordered this one by mistake. I watch the show "Hot Ones" and their hot sauce was the one I was looking for but for some reason that picture was screaming "BUY ME PLEASE!". He was in pain so I did it and I'm very happy that I did. This is by far the best hot sauce I've ever tasted and Ive had too many to count. It will kick the s@#! out of you for a moment but the flavor makes it all worth while I promise. No really..... I PROMISE. Im still gonna get Hot Ones just to compare since they brag so much about it.

Hotter than usual, but not stupidly so, and with a nice sweet smokey flavor.

A bit warmer than the usual grocery store hot sauces- but not stupid hot. It has a pleasant sort of sweet paprika smokey flavor to it, while still warming your mouth up. Very good on chicken and chicken wings, although its not like the traditional "buffalo wings" style flavor. I also tried it as a replacement for catsup and mustard on a burger - it works there, but not as well as on chicken. It does go nicely on pork ribs as well. I found the "heat" part just above my usual threshold, but it has a pretty short "heat halflife" going down, and I didn't notice any problems on the other side, if you know what I mean. I enjoyed it as a change in scenery, but I don't think I'd replace my usual hot sauces - I prefer a more vinegary flavor. Still, its worth a try just because of the pleasant flavor, and I might order it again for a special picnic or something.

HOT Damn!

Full disclosure: I'm a huge fan of the YouTube show, First We Feast presents Hot Ones. I think it's a wildly entertaining interview show and it has reinvigorated my love of all things spicy!

Moving on to the review, I had purchased this because I had noticed that everyone on the show had expressed how much they liked the flavor of this hot sauce, even with its painful bite. Now, for chili heads this is extremely tame, but I find myself in between the normal crowd and the insanity of chilidom. I adore the flavor of this sauce and have already gone through 1/4 the bottle in one day, because I carried it around with me and put it on everything. That being said, if you use it like normal hot sauce, you'll enjoy the complex flavor (albeit its main ingredient is malt vinegar so hot sauce fanatics will know the base flavor) while appreciating a medium burn. If you take a chug (which I do with Tabasco as if it were apple juice) then you will feel the creep of those habaneros and you'll start reaching for milk as if you were a death row convict reaching for the bible.

A wonderful and flavorful hot sauce, I give it an A+

Good, but absolutely not a "Louisiana" style sauce

This is the farthest thing from a Louisiana sauce, but it is enjoyable. It's texture and flavor is much more akin to a spicy, thick tomato based bbq sauce instead of a runny, vinegary and thin sauce that comes out in drops. The only similarity is the cayenne pepper, but the flavor, texture, and acidity is completely different than something like Tabasco. It has less heat than the Jamaican style or Hot Garlic, but still a decent amount and is an enjoyable, flavorful sauce if you like a slightly sweet tomato based sauce.

Good all around hot sauce.

A good balance of pepper and garlic flavor. Also, the flavor of the Worcestershire sauce adds a nice balance. I tried a few drops straight then ate some more on some cheese. This bottle won't last me long. Definitely worth a try. It was a bit milder than I expected though.

Hot but flavorful

I ordered this hot sauce based on remembering it from having it years ago. This is one of the most flavorful hot sauces I have ever had. It may say medium, but it is definitely hotter than your typical sauce. I ate almost half the bottle in only a matter of weeks. To me, hot sauce should not just be spicy, it should have a depth to it, and this delivers in both categories. I highly recommend this if you want something to enjoy.

I'm a fan Hot Ones on YouTube and have recently gotten back into hot sauces. Of all the ones I've accumulated the past couple of months that they use on the show, Pain is Good Louisiana style is the one I'm constantly going back to. Just a quality sauce from top to bottom. Great flavor that won't completely blow you out.

BBQesque hot sauce with perfect amount of heat and amazing flavor
by Kasey (5 out of 5 stars)

Another amazing sauce from the Pain is Good folks. I wouldn't really call it Louisiana style if that means something like Tabasco or Louisiana brand hot sauces that are just peppers, vinegar, and salt. It's thicker, tomato based, and has a BBQ sauce flavor to it. The heat is probably like 3 or 4 times Tabasco, maybe 20k scoville. It's a lot of flavor though--not just heat.

Not your moms Louisiana hot sauce!

Thicker than 'traditional' vinegar stuff, good burst of heat up front nice smokey finish with vinegar & sweet tones. Great interpretation of Louisiana Style Hot Sauce, the flavor is there.

Like it on eggs, really need to try it in a Bloody Mary.
