The product is very useful for large items on the surface. However, smaller floating items such as nats, or tree seeds are not picked up by the net. The mesh on the net is not small enough to capture them. I used the remote control about 15-20 times and the on/off switch broke. The seller told me tough, on my own. Now trying to deal with manufacturer on getting a new one.

If I had it to do over, I would pass on this item. A waste of money, unless you want a toy that you cannot even play with!

I bought mine a little over a year ago and used it all summer. My pool was never cleaner as I didn't hate skimming the leaves.

When I pulled it out last week, the remote didn't work and my charger was cracked. Even though it was technically past warranty, Dunn-Rite Products sent me replacements that arrived only 3 days later. Fantastic, friendly customer service!

UPDATE 2015-05-27: The new remote didn't survive the winter so I called to order a new one. The reply from customer service? "Nope, we're sending you ANOTHER one for free." Wow!

Don't waste your money

Lasted less than a month... now it doesn't matter how long the battery is charged the motors don't move at all.

I'm also terribly unhappy with the Asurion "extended warranty" that I purchased from Amazon. Their response? Oh this is still up to the manufacturer... who isn't responding to me. Ugh.

This is a good idea but the product is poorly made. I used mine twice and then it stopped working. Took it apart and there was water soaking the motor compartment. The whole boat takes on water and none of the seals appear to be water tight. For the price, I would expect much better construction.

Used only 3 times and no longer works. One propeller rotates forward and will not reverse. Other one dead!

I was really excited about this product because I bought it for my Father in Law who was unable to do anything physical at the time. I gave it to him as a Christmas present but he didn't open it until a few months later because he hadn't been feeling very well. He loved the idea but when he opened the box the motor didn't work. He has several remote control helicopters and has been a licensed engineer for over 50 years. He was very bummed that it didn't work. Feels like a total waste of money.

Not Worth It

This lasted less than 2 years. The entire time it "worked," the controls were clunky. It is steered with inputs to a left and a right motor. Often one or the other motor would not respond to the inputs, and the boat would not go where intended. After about 18 months, it was fairly well shot. I suspect I used it less than 20 times in total. I bought replacement motors. These cost an additional $30. With the replacement motors, the machine responded even less to the remote control inputs. One of the two motors would only work in reverse. I gave up and threw it away. This is a nice idea, but this particular product was low quality. I would definitely not buy it again.

Easy to pick up frogs

This was one of those "The wife will check my Amazon orders, say 'What!?' and I say I don't know what I was thinking, but let's check it out" item. Anyway, we have a large oak tree next to our pool, tons of leaves twice a year, always quite a few here and there. The dual motor controllers let you turn on a dime. Easy to pick up frogs, bugs and even leaves hugging the side. It cut my skimming time in half because the grand-kids go for it. Normal size skimming net, powerful motor (I like the loud thrusting noise) and great battery life. Nana is happy, therefore, everyone is happy.

I saw this and read the other reviews so I bought it for my husband as a pool skimmer. I am so glad I did, he loves it, the dog loves it and it is so much fun to see it skim across the pool. It also does a great job and gets the pool surprisingly clean. At first I wished it wasn't so plasticky but it is sturdy and it takes some hard knocks especially if the person with the remote control doesn't have the right technique. Only con is that the battery pack does need frequent charging, however we found that if you turn the boat and remote control switches to off ( it's easy to leave the boat one on) then the charge lasts a week or so
