I bought 2 of these

One of them the hat fell apart so I just glued it back on

The other one, the jaw does not stay place, it falls off along with the pencil shavings, so I had to send it back.

PROS:
. It's made 100% from wood and nicely painted
. In a world full of plastic junk, this wood piece looks really nice sitting on a desk
. CONS:
. Pencil sharper is a sad excuse for a pencil sharpener
. The jaw is not hinged, it's supposed to stay in place by friction
. Remove jaw to discard shavings but very clumsy and it spills (do it over the trash bin)

CONCLUSION:
. Buy it if you want something somewhat unique for your desk
. Don't gift it to children because it doesn't work well and falls apart

I also got it as a gift for my fiancé but it came in pieces, after putting the hat on, the jaw doesn't seem to have a hinge or a way to attach to the head so it never stays together. The idea was great but very poor execution. It would have made sense if I could by this from Ikea since apparently it's a 'do it yourself'. It does the job which is to sharpen my pencil but that is not why we clicked on the product. It this just sucked.

I got this as a somewhat spontaneous gift for my wife (in retrospect I'm not terribly sure why). The first one arrived in pieces. The had had detached, the jaw had detached, the sharpener inside had detached. It looks like a do-it-yourself project composed at home with a glue gun. Amazon sent a replacement (they had me ship the broken one back which was a little annoying for such a cheap and hopelessly broken product) and it arrived intact. Also of note is that the paint job isn't particularly great with very slightly inconsistent coverage. It is rather cute, though. I just don't think it will survive for a terribly long time if it is actually used a lot. Or at least it will survive if someone is willing to take out their glue gun to maintain it.
