Great looking knife and big so you have to expect the weight

This is my first time buying a Hidden knife and I was impressed with it right out of the box like great has a good action move to it but I did just get it today so I have to check the Rockwell hardness on it then put it through its tests to see how well it stands up to my collection of well over 1500 high end knives I own some I paid several thousand dollars for I only buy the best and being a retired metlalurs I know good still and how to test it . The Knife looks good cuts and saw well but I will be the judge as to how much it can take. The handle right out of the box needs buffing to bring out the proper shine I know is there the sheath is stiff but I always put leather oil on mine to softener up and preserve It for the long days in all kinds of weather . Being in the desert of Arizona now the heat really can do a job on anything made of leather with out proper care so I will write a follow up later after I see what this knife has to give. As far as the seller goes he delivered It on time and in good shape by looks, now I will see what he sold me

Solid Knife!!

Fast shipping!! Knife is a fantastic design. Very sharp. It holds it's edge nicely. I find it to be a fine martial arts knife as well. This knife is large, it is a beastly blade. The only thing better would be the same blade made of 440C stainless, or maybe a folded steel, hardened in san-mai style. However, for the cost, this knife is a great all around survival, camping, and utility knife. It is very reasonable cost for the quality of steel. It comes sharp right out of the box! I chose to sharpened it using a 12K grit stone! it can filet a trout, plus cut a tent peg and still hold a good edge. I will buy more Gil Hibben designed blades from United Cutlery.

Beastmode

I'm what you'd call a chipmunk-collector. I like to have nice things that I prolly won't use. Things that scream "I could dis-embowl any animal on the planet". Well, this knife makes the cut. Every time I show it, the person starts says 'wow' and starts stabbing the air. It's huge. And the teeth are nasty. If you want a rediculous knife, buy it. Right meow.

The knife itself is flawless, my concern was the Sheath which was too short to completely fit the knife I could not wrap the strap around the guard to button it down .I got the knife as a gift and I let the time expire, please check your purchase that it fits the sheath, will keep the knife and try to have a sheath made to fit it completely..

as for blade excellent but very disappointed in it

the classic Rambo knife however bole in top of handle and on back of handle and handle guard has two holes in it, as for blade excellent but very disappointed in it. Handle and guard is very deceiving, picture looks far better than knife really is. As for the bolt in top, FOR WHAT?? no survival kit, guess to sum it all up I thoroughly agree to Joseph Johnsons review, very deceiving and for Gil Hibbens knives, unacceptable for the normal quality knives he manufacturers. was expecting much more, would return it, to much hassle and to much time, don't get this one, everyone has an opinion however individuals that has had to survive with knives and who were trained , this was definitely a joke. Sorry, just telling it like it is. I glance through all the knives reviews, look at them and research as much as possible and everyone has there own opinion and entitled to it, however if you know knives, used them for every reason, combat, survival, hunting , skinning and is a hobby, when someone gives this a five star rating, shows they don't know knives and quality. Wow is not a big enough word to describe this beautiful knife.

I just got this incredible blade in the mail this morning. The first thing that jumped at me about this knife is the size, it is huge and almost as big as a machete. The steel is polished and high quality. I really like this blade and it was worth the money to purchase it.

What can I say? It is huge, beautiful and scary as hellll. I have shown some of my coworkers as I had it shipped to me office and we had a lot of good laughs about it but in the end they can only ask me... so what do you plan on using that for? Awesome super high quality knife at a bargain of a price. Do not hesitate to buy this beast.

Surprisingly decent weight.

This is my first Hibben knife...the Extreme Survival Bowie....big and intimidating, and not as heavy as it would seem. Designed in the US, made in China.....hhhhmmm. The knife has some weight to it, but is rather light in comparison to my Kukri based on the size of each. I would much rather walk around with this on my hip versus my Kukri...but would not want to walk around with either in my hand all day. This definitely a survival knife and conversation piece to say the least. Mine arrived quickly and in excellent new condition. It did come covered in oil...so have a rag of some sort handy with you open it. Sharp out of the box.....but true survivalists will definitely improve upon that. The knife would be better described as a miniature hand sword, and with a mini shield....one could rival a gladiator, not suggesting that though. Not sure if it full tang or not, but the construction seems solid free of any visible craftsmanship flaws. The saw teeth on top....solidly cut, and again...intimidating. I think if you were to stab a wild pig or some other animal, one would definitely need the use of at least one foot to retrieve their knife. The handle is well made and the hand guard is definitely a plus and of a high and solid quality itself. If Bowies are you thing.....you gotta get this one. The leather sheath is of decent quality and will serve it purpose. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, though I won't be framing mine.

But for what it is and for its purpose this is a fine knife for the camp

I have been collecting Hibben knives since the 70. Back when he was making them himself before mass production. Now I know the Hibben enthusiast will have con's to say about the quality of the blade. But for what it is and for its purpose this is a fine knife for the camp. I have sawed and chopped wood, cut canvas and skins alike. Thrown it at targets (not recommended but I do it) and it's still holding an edge. So for me as a camp knife that has his name on it, it's worth the money.
