It's a Sack -- of Awesome
by StSky (5 out of 5 stars)

This is so incredibly unbelievably useful, I got this after my son's Lego habit started getting out of control. The concept isn't new, I have a similar, much smaller denim one that Lego made 30+ years ago. But these days the pieces are smaller and there are waaaaay more of them so I needed an equally durable but much bigger mat/bag. This one fit the bill.

Ours now holds 10 large sets and an untold number of smaller ones (we're a mix-the-Legos-together family). It doesn't have to be Legos, it can be anything that you just want to push onto the mat and pull the string to clean up when play time is over. It's a pretty big mat (the 5 feet is accurate, the picture makes it seem smaller) so it will hold quite a load of toys.

The price is on the high side (and I see it's much higher than we bought ours) but on the pro side, it is very very well made. Ours has survived almost three years' daily service without a problem.

Handy helper with one caveat

My five year old recently got into Legos. The little tiny ones. And they were everywhere! We tried the bins. We tried plastic baggies. But ultimately, those required so much clean up effort it grew to be a real pain. In comes the Lay-N-Go. Thoight I would give it a try. We keep it on our living room in a toy chest and my son pulls it out when he is ready to play. He does seem to need my help opening it- which depending on the age of your child, could be a good thing or a bad thing. But clean up has been so much easier! When playing he mostly leaves the Legos on the mat. Some do come off but when done we just throw it on the mat. He attempts to close it by pulling the string (which doesn't actually lock it) so usually an adult news to help close it too. The only thing is -there is a whole in the opening, even when closed tightly. It is certainly not a deal breaker but it does exist and small Legos can definitely fall through if you freely put the tied up lay-n-go in a toy bin or something. You would definitely want to make sure it stays upright. Even with this issue, it's still a good value for us, especially at the price point which is 41.99 at the time of this review.

Dorable, worth every penny!

My 10 year old son loves this lay and go. Before we had this, he would dump out his legos to build something and they would be all over the room. I would have to ask him to clean them up everyday and it was always a chore. Now with the lay and go, we can spread the legos out and clean them up in seconds.

Pros:

The 60" has a large diameter to lay legos out

It lays flat

The material is very durable

It can be wiped down easily

The cord is dorable, locks and has a pocket that the can be placed in for child safety

Cons:

It can be very heavy "if" filled all the way, but it's a strong material and can be pulled across the floor. My 10 yr old can carry it over his shoulder, but younger children may struggle if it's full and need assistance. Just something to keep in mind.

Polyester

Does everything the description says it does, however the "swoop bag" that I also have which is made of very thick cotton instead of polyester just has a nicer better quality feel to it - due to the material itself. The diameter is significantly bigger than on the swoop bag though, so if you need maximum size the lay-n-go is better.

Best product ever!
by Jaxpom (5 out of 5 stars)

Best. Buy. Ever. We have a ton of Lego - and I've tried every storage solution possible, from separating different 'types' of bricks (complete failure - way too much work to set up and maintain and my kids didn't have the patience to put stuff away properly), to throwing it in one enormous tub (complete fail - too hard to find stuff and too heavy to lift), and everything in between!

I found this playmat online months ago and deluded myself that I would make something similar - that didn't happen so I finally ordered the lay-n-go. And since I tipped our enormous collection of Lego onto this thing, I have not looked back!

For starters, it's big enough to take a mountain of Lego and for plenty of kids and adults to sit around at the same time. It's easy to riffle through and find the bits you want, and the mess stays on the mat. The few bits that do fall off are a doddle to chuck back towards the centre, and the packing away takes literally seconds. Finally, and the best bit for me, is that my kids are actually playing with their Lego again - it had become too hard because the amount they have means it was hard to find stuff in deep, heavy tubs! My kids and their friends are now actually sitting around chatting and building stuff together rather than bugging me to allow them to play computer games! Massive win!

Saves My Back. Helps A Lot.
by Grandma Hook (5 out of 5 stars)

I hoped this play mat would pull toys together to relieve my old back and arthritic feet of having to do that job, and I hoped having the mat would help clear out the house of "after grandchildren" clutter. It does! Excellent choice.

The grands aren't much inclined to pick up after themselves, and I'm not one to insist on it (Mom and Dad can "train"), but the children will toss their toys back onto the mat, and it's only one stoop for me to pull it together and then lift or drag it to another spot.

Before shelling out for this purchase, I considered whether or not I might not make an old sheet do the same trick. I supposed I could, but I'm very happy I didn't. Lay-n-Go works well. It's superior to anything I might have made, and it's made well. I suspect it will long outlast its immediate need.

So, for whatever your reason for not wanting to pick up after children, I recommend buying a Lay-n-Go.

The best way for them to play with them are just ...
by M. Black (5 out of 5 stars)

Just received this in the mail. My husband purchased a huge bin of lego pieces off craigslist for my kids. They have been sitting in an ugly underbed plastic underbed storage box against the wall on the playroom floor. The bin was taking up a lot of space and unsightly. I looked at a lot of pinetrest ideas on how to store legos. I knew that the kids were not going to sort and store their legos by color, shape etc. There are just too many. The best way for them to play with them are just to spread them out in the biggest flattest pile they can and have at it. This item did the trick. It allows the legos to be spread out well, at least as big or bigger than the underbed storage box. Pulling the cord to cinch the sack together is easy, and in a flash the play room floor is clear again. I am very happy with the product size, function and quality.

Perfect solution to Lego mess
by Mom of Three (4 out of 5 stars)
March 6, 2014

As a mother of three toddlers, I needed something that would help contain the lego mess. Our legos frequently fly across the floor and under the sofa... Or those two you missed during cleanup would end up under my foot in the middle of the night. When I saw this, I was set off by the price. I was tempted to buy a kiddie pool from the dollar store and throw the leggos in there for playtime instead. After our lego boxes started collecting dust (my fault entirely. I was really dreading picking up all the little pieces) I decided this purchase was necessary to save our investment in legos.

When you open the box, you get a circular piece of cloth. It's kind of like the material of a jacket. It slides on the hardwood floor-- I just made my kids sit down (repeatedly) -- and reminded them not to run through it like they were splashing through a lego foot bath... But, they loved it. My oldest toddler (2) didn't build so much with this arrangement. He usually builds towers when we're sitting at the table with the legos. He instead participated in moving all the legos all over the place. That being said, he also enjoyed telling me about all the different shapes and colors he was "finding". I'm sure building will resume after the excitement wears off.

The bag has a few pockets for "special" pieces. I put the men and woman lego people on one side in separate mesh pockets.. and flowers and gates on the other side in separate mesh pockets. Honestly, this is probably more for me than my kids... at our current age anyway.

I saw a few people complaining that the clip on the end breaks. It's the same sort of clip that's on any draw string bag. I'm sure you could replace it if you want to. I would just tie it in a loose knot. It's the pulling of the string itself that makes the bag draw up.

Overall, I like this. Cleanup was super fast. It creates a space large enough for all three of my kids to sit in (not that I wanted them to sit inside of it.. it just worked out that way). If we brought this out during a playdate, I'm sure one more kid could squeeze in. Definitely more all around if we used it as a floor "table" instead of a floor mat. I think the material is durable and I'm expecting it to last for awhile.

I saw that there were a few mini versions of this. I almost got those instead and I'm glad I didn't. This is perfect for group play.

Best product out there for lego play
by JDH (5 out of 5 stars)

Ever tired of those legos all over the floor? Constantly picking up little pieces here and there. Have a younger child or baby that is constantly getting into the legos and trying to eat them? This is your answer!!! Also can take in the car and play with at dinner and not loose a piece. I have 3 children, one is a 14 month old and is always after the legos. Now my children sit on the floor and play on these mats and when they are done close the bag and set aside and go on doing other things. My life is SO much easier now with these lay-n-go in my home!! No more stepping on legos (which we all know REALLY hurts)...or finding pieces in every corner of your home. Highly recommend for the homes where legos overrun your childs play!! A total must have product!!

Great Product; Just keep watch over the long cord!
by Kindle Customer (4 out of 5 stars)
July 25, 2016

I have been looking for a viable solution to the children's Lego explosions. This is the best thing going. I bought two lay-in-go's for the Legos that fit in a large storage bin, but the bags are so large I think I could have gotten away with one. The only concern I have, which I don't really have a solution to, is the very long cord when the bag is drawn. My older children obviously don't have any problems with this cord, but my three year old likes to wrap herself with it and it is potentially dangerous. Overall, this is a fantastic product. I just recommend putting the bag out of sight of little ones if the bag is drawn closed.
