Product Description

The Echo Logico Retro Handset is a simple handset that plugs into any mobile phone, tablet or PC. Available in six bold colors, the Retro Handset features a bright cool look with a soft-touch easy grip. The nostalgic look of the Retro Handset plays on a chunky, old-fashioned telephone receiver design, but combines the comfort and convenience of these traditional handsets with modern functionality, including a high-quality speaker and microphone and easy-to-use pick-up and hang-up buttons. Fitted with a 3.5mm jack, it's compatible with all devices (some may require adaptors).

I have tried 5 different types of these handsets. This is my favoriate.

I have tried the Native Union model, the SwissVoice model, and a couple of others. I think this (EchoLogico) has the best combination of sound quality and comfort. The SwissVoice model has the best sound of all of them (to my ears, anyway). I have tested the speaking and listening sound quality on all of the ones I have. So, while the SwissVoice has the best sound quality of all, it has this dumb design where it has a raised ridge around the ear piece that is uncomfortable against my ear for a long time. This model here (EchoLogico) has nearly as good of sound quality and MUCH greater comfort to hold against ear for a long call. However, when I ordered this model (EchoLogical) from a secondary seller on Amazon, I did not get that brand and got something much worse sounding. This link here is for EchoLogico and it is fulfilled by Amazon and they sent me the correct model that I meant to order.

BTW, the Native Union brand seems pretty good to. Just not quite as good as this one overall, but pretty decent.

In summary, I think this is the best one of these types of handsets available on Amazon right now. Just make sure you actually get this brand when you order. I think you will with this link.

Perfect for Longer Cell Phone Calls
by Teeni (3 out of 5 stars)

I love this item. Besides the nostalgia, it actually makes being on the cell phone for long calls much more comfortable. Also, it cradles perfectly between ear and shoulder just like its ancestors used to, which means you can have both hands free to do other things while you are on the phone (put your phone in your pocket and cradle the earpiece), even look at your phone screen which is impossible when you are holding the cell phone to your ear. The pick up/hang up button works fine and you are keeping the radiation farther from your head. Cord is a nice strong one just like the old ones, but it is a bit lighter in weight than the old ones. Sound quality is great and works well with Skype calls, basically anywhere you can plug in a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Edited to add that this item did work great for a while but eventually people on the other end could no longer hear me - I don't understand why that seems to happen so often with these types of handsets, especially when they are well-cared for and not abused. It was great while it lasted but am thinking with the failure rate I am seeing of most of these hand held "phones" that the price should reflect what a disposable item it is. Removed three stars as I see no reason why these should not last a LOT longer than they do without malfunctioning. :(

Works really well. People say I sound crystal clear, and I can hear everyone on my calls. LOVE THIS

I actually really, really like this headset.

And- you know what's funny- you would think that maybe it's not 'cool' for some reason, to have this type of handset on your cellphone or whatnot.

Actually, quite the opposite- people really find it to be interesting- most people have never seen this type of headset for a cellphone..So..eat your heart out all you people who try to be cool- I was the first to have this!!! Haha..

But- more important than looks, of course, if functionality.

This headset is well made. It works perfectly! I have asked many people how I sound to them, and they say GREAT.

And I can hear them perfectly too. So much better than my in ear piece ones, that seem to send a shock through my ear-

I don't like it.

For some reason, I read in the manual of this phone, that it diminishes 99% of the cell phone radiation that comes off of our cellphones... I forgot what the name is of that radiation...but- you know...the waves that cell phones emit, that they say might contribute to brain tumors, even though we don't have any evidence- in any case- I can see how this phone receiver could eliminate that with how it travels up the chord and into the earpiece.

It is a much more solid way to make your calls.

Anyway- I really love it. And, for the price- no complaints.

NOT AS DESCRIBED

Caveat emptor

You can NOT use other phone functions while using this handset; which is the perk of having these things. Nobody can hear me when I talk, I can hear them saying, "Hello. Hello. HELLO?" Plug doesn't work half the time, either. This time I bought the blue one. I have purchased 2 other of these handset phone jacks and they work like a gem. Make sure you are getting the ability to answer and hang up; you can actually do other phone functions; you can control the volume. How can you assure that is beyond me, considering Amazon is using a stock photo, with stock description, to sell a wide array of similar but not the same items.

These handsets are really awesome when you get what you are looking for. The other 2 I have purchased I have no complaints about, they work exactly as described. They differ from a Bluetooth in use and price. I have just discovered, again, that on Amazon you don't always get what it says you are buying. I bought the blue one, FWIW.

Perfect!

Works amazingly well. (My review will be based on computer use)

SOUND QUALITY: Perfect and other people can hear me perfectly as well; no air, no static, no bleeps in and out, no missed words or syllables, sounds like the person is in the room, etc.

THINGS THAT COULD AFFECT QUALITY: I have high speed internet service with fast download and upload speeds which ABSOLUTELY will affect quality. Slow "streaming effects" will affect the rate at which audio is sent and received, and slower internet speeds will create the same "buffering effects" that happen when streaming video. Do not expect it to be any different this device. Blame this on your internet speed...not the phone.

SKYPE: It works perfectly with skype, and if you have no problems currently streaming skype, then this phone "shouldn't" give you any problems.

ECHO on Computers: You MUST have a SINGLE 3.5 audio/mic jack on your computer, or the mouthpiece/speaker/mic will not work and the mic that will be working is the mic on your computer which will send an echo to your earpiece when you talk.
3.5 MIC JACK or ADAPTER a MUST: You MUST have a SINGLE 3.5 audio/mic jack on your computer, or the mouthpiece/speaker/mic will not work. If you have a DUAL jack arrangement on your computer (one jack for headphones + one jack for microphone) you will need to purchase an ADAPTER. I purchased a Native Union Moshi USB adapter and it works beautifully AND has great sound quality as well. link for adapter ---> http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055UDSTA/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1

HELPFUL NOTE: unplug when not in use or you won't hear your phone ring.

IMPOSTER NOTICE: Due to other reviews talking about seeming imposters, I will tell you that the one I purchased is the official Echo Logico handset and came in an official sealed Echo Logico box (the ones you have to cut open that drive us all crazy but is an assurance of originality) and the Echo Logico stamp is on the phone. It is NOT a sticker...The logo is "soldered" into the phone material.

Sounds good, feels good, looks good. So easy to use!

I LOVE this head set. I HAD a retro cordless/blue-tooth style, but it is a pain to keep charged, remember to have it connected, sometimes it doesn't connect, and often doesn't have good sound quality for either party. I was bummed, since I really like the idea of conversing with a head set reminiscent of a traditional phone. I find them comfortable to talk into, and wanted the same feel for my cellphone.

When I came across this corded product, I decided to give it a try. I AM SO GLAD THAT I DID! It just plugs into the cellphone. No need to have the units read each other. No charging. The phone can be answered through a button on the head set, or as normal on the cellphone. Sound quality is good, if not better, for both parties. The head set is comfortable, and the cord is adequately long enough. Same size and feel of a real telephone piece. I usually hate talking on my cellphone, but this makes a world of difference. I have only used this at home, but I am not against using it out in public if desired.

If this looks like something you would enjoy using, I recommend it.

Horrible Quality

Waste of time and money. I chose to believe the positive reviews and disregard the low ratings because I REALLY REALLY wanted this phone. I like the feeling of a phone in my hand when I talk and don't like holding my cell (iPhone 6). First call: other person could hear me but call disconnected when the cord moved literally 1/5th of an inch. Second call: plugging the phone in activated Siri AND my music - shut those down, made the call, other person couldn't hear me and when I shifted in my seat the call disconnected and activated my music....seriously? Third through tenth call: exact same sequence as the second call. This is such a phenomenal idea and seems like the execution would be so simple and yet.....

"Old" technology makes my life easier!

I basically got this handset simply because I like being able to text while on the phone and I 1) hate having someone one/being on speakerphone and 2) obviously the person on the other end can hear you tapping away at your phone. This was the perfect solution! It also comes in handy when you need to use the keypad on your phone a lot for automated things, and helps prevent hang-up-by-face incidents. I now actually use this almost all the time at home (unless I left it in another room and the call can't wait)! I haven't taken it out in public but I don't plan to, I save my longer conversations for when I'm not out and about.

So, the handset itself. The three buttons all work (I have an iPhone) and the handset is soft to the touch. The only reason I took a star off my rating is because, even with the sound all the way up, it can be a bit too quiet. Still worth it though!

Works great as stealth mode.

I work in an office and people are always walking by and seeing me on the phone. With this headset in black (that looks like my office phone) people think I am on the office phone and not making personal calls. It is not a violation of office policy but I had rather people not know I am using my cell phone. It works perfectly for that intended use.

Logistically the headset works perfectly.

It has top quality sound, both talking and receiving.

It fits comfortably on my shoulder and allows for hands-free operation.

It moves the phone away from my head, thereby impeding supposed dangerous microwave frequencies.

The button allows me to answer or hangup.

I can answer and terminate calls while leaving the cell phone out of sight and untouched.

It is unbelievably cheap in price for the value.

My 14 year old daughter saw it and loved it.

I had to purchase another one for her and now all her friends want one.

She says she can text and talk at the same time since the cell does not have to be next to her ear.

I give it 5 stars +++++++

Great sound quality, but connection is persnickety

I wasn't sure what to expect from this item since it is priced much lower than the competition. I have to say I've been pleasantly surprised. The feel and weight of the phone is just right. The plastic is a comfortable matte that would show fingerprints, etc. The best part though is the sound quality. The sound chamber on the earpiece makes for a *much* better call experience--just like and old landline. And the max volume is very loud--could be really helpful if you're hard of hearing.

Overall I've been very pleased and would buy another in a heartbeat. The only downside has been that the audio jack sometimes cuts out when plugged in to my phone. I have to rotate and fiddle with it to get the audio back. Other than that, no complaints.
