Solid canteen, well designed features, short strap.

Seems solid and well-made. Smaller than I thought it would be, which is fine - it still holds 2 quarts, and the smaller, the better it stays out of your way. I like the water treatment tablet pouch on the side, that's a well-thought-out feature. Inside the tan carry bag it's got fur, and instructions for soaking the bag/fur in water to keep the canteen cool, another good feature.

One possible con: I stretched the strap out to its maximum length, and the canteen hangs so the bottom edge is about level with my waist. I'm 6'2" and 250 lbs., so I know I'm a tall guy, I just wasn't expecting it to hang right where my arm will need to swing while hiking. When the canteen is full it forces you to hold your arm out a few inches to avoid it. I guess I could use the belt clips, but who wants four pounds of water dragging their pants down? I'll probably keep it swung around to my lower back and hope it doesn't bap me every other step. (If this is user malfunction, someone please let me know in the comments.)

Will update more when I use it!

Buy from someone else!

If I could give this no stars I would. The canteen came used. The army private who was the original owner had written his name on the bottom of the bag and his name on a card in the pocket. Second Platoon and last four. There are sweat marks and dirt marks on it. I'm glad I didn't drink out of it! I'm so pissed off. 😡🤬I needed it by the weekend. I got it but it's unusable. Buy from someone else.

Perfect canteen

Exactly the same canteen I was issued in the Army. It provides the same high quality material that insulates the canteen and also comes with ALICE clips for the hard core user.

As with any GI canteen, do not put coffee or tea or any powdered flavor inside. This is a water only unit.

Holds alot of water.

This is a great canteen. I was concerned that the collapsible nature of the bottle would lead to leaks over time, but this is a high great plastic (almost rubberlike). The Carrier is really nice and is lined with wool to help keep cool in the summer. The 2 quart capacity is a must for long hikes or hunting. I may buy a second one for my really long hikes.

Nice 2 qt shoulder canteen
by Amanda Felix (4 out of 5 stars)

I have used 2 qt canteens in the past, and they come in handy on long hikes. This one was purchased as a replacement for an old one i used to have. Canteen came packaged well and was washed and filled with water to check for any leaks or holes. Held water with no problem, one thing i did notice was the canteen bladder seem thinner than my orginal one from many years ago. Not a deal breaker, just need to be more careful to avoid puntures...all in all i would order again..

not brand new

The cover has someones name and phone number on it the strap has another name on it, and the bladder smells like an old tent, I think it is unusable due to the mold content I would not reccommend

Worth every penny!!!

This is a really nice canteen. Been looking for a good one and put my money on this on and I was very pleased with it. It had the able to put the drinking straw on it (looking into getting that too) For the reviews about getting the weird smell out of it. All I had to do was run it through the dishwasher (the smell was still there a little) so I mix water and baking soda (1/2 cup) and fill it completely full and let it sit for about a day, and every time I walked by it I would shake it up a bit. At the end of the day no more smell.

Very good buy!!!

Excellent Excellent Excellent

I spent 12 years in the US Army and was well aware of the 2-qt canteen. I used one the entire time I was at Fort Sill, OK. I wanted my own and I am not disappointed. This canteen and carrier is brand new, clean condition. All buckles and straps in new condition. The insulation is new condition. No tears, frays, stitching imperfections or anything else. This canteen does not have the gas mask drinking straw connector, so you can't use it while in any MOPP condition. But for general field time or hiking it is perfect.

Be surprised and be green at the same time........

This was a very good buy. The bladder (canteen) is quite small but surprisingly holds 2 quarts of water. I fill it and place in the refrigerator and stays cold in the insulated holder for several hours in hot conditions. Furthermore, after a few washings, there is no discernible aftertaste.

Very good quality... Holds enough water to last long in between refills.

Very good quality military issue canteen. The new issue bag is also good quality and can be used to store other items instead of just the water bottle. Good for hiking and travelling as well as for lunchbreak during work. I've been getting a lot of compliments for how the bag looks like. Everyone says it looks so good when i use it as a small lunch bag. They have no idea its just a cover for a military canteen. Now everyone asks where i got it from. I told them to buy one at amazon.
