The octopus heads are wider at the bottom, so these are very difficult to pop out when the head is wider than the top hole you're trying to wedge it through. The legs are very shallow in comparison so they easily break while you're trying to pop the thing out. Also, this is not a hard ice tray, but a soft bendy plastic so filling them up all the way to the top and laying it perfectly in the freezer without spilling is a challenge. I find I do spill and even with best efforts half of the legs don't form because there was just that little bit of water missing or it was laid at just a little bit of an angle. Once out, because they are top heavy they float upside down in the glass. Piling a bunch in a tall glass still looks good and I enjoy the novelty every now and then, even with the hassle.
Excellent! Glad I bought.

This fun little "toy" works as well as one could expect. When I popped the ice out, it was in the shape of the mold with adequate detail.
It is difficult to get exactly the right level of water into the mold. If there's too much, you'll get a rough bottom to the mold. If not enough, you'll be missing some of the details of the tentacles. The next time I try it will put the empty mold into the freezer on a flat, sturdy surface and then fill the cavities with a small pouring device with which I can fill it up right to the top of the mold.
After my initial post of this review I read someone else's where they were claiming it left a horrible taste that lasted a while. Therefore, I put ice I made in it in water and drank some. I tried to tell if I could taste anything, but then realized that if I was trying to taste it and couldn't, then it must not be a problem.
So cute

These are so cute, I just had to get them.
Couple things:
1. Don't fill them all the way to the top. If you only fill them about halfway, it's much easier to transport to the freezer and also a ton easier to get the frozen cubes out of the tray.
2. I use a Pyrex measuring cup to fill these If you don't use something with a pour spout (or a syringe), it just makes a huge coffee mess.
2. These don't just pop out of the tray. It's a little work to get them out, especially if you overfill.
3. If you're making iced espresso drinks, use the regular ice cubes to chill everything down, and then add these afterwards. They don't look quite a cute when they're half melted...
Overall, these are so very cute, but only get used for company. They are just too much of a hassle for everyday use for me.

This is an amazing product--I'm so glad to have found it! Even my friends love it when I take it out of the freezer! Just fill it up with coffee, stick it in the freezer--iced coffee for later! Perfect for warm weather.
Some tips: use a measuring cup with a lip to pour the coffee into the holes. Makes it a lot easier to manage! Also, when taking the cubes out, pop one side of it up to work it out of the hole. The more coffee poured into the hole, the easier it is to pop out! I like to fill it up, set it in the freezer and top it off there. I actually want to order another since I use them up so fast!
Love it!

Love to fill it with coffee to freeze for my iced coffees so it's not watered down from regular ice. Comes out super easy!

Useless. There are no supports between the octopi so it's impossible to fill them to the top. Water spills in the freezer and even if you mange to fill them the legs break off when you try to get them out.
No tentacles!

Great in theory; poor in execution. Virtually impossible to remove ice cubes and have tentacles intact. Also, melts so fast that the tentacles, even if intact, are gone very quickly. Stick with the big cubes or spheres.
durable and cute!

I didn't want my regular ice to all taste like coffee, so I got this for freezing coffee. We make little frozen beans out of strong coffee; my husband likes them in his iced coffee in the summer so it doesn't get watered down.
The big lip on the openings does mean you have to really push the beans out, but it also keeps me from spilling coffee everywhere so I like it.
Bonus - they're adorable.
Cute, but expensive for a novelty ice tray.

Cute, easy to use, but you might want to use a flat tray when storing in the freezer. The whole mold is silicone, which is nice for removal, but transferring to the freezer could be messy.

These little coffee beans are great for iced coffee. Use your left over coffee and make ice cubes. Next time your iced coffee won't get diluted from the ice.A coffee lovers delight. You can also make little chocolate coffee flavored candies for a special coffee lover.Place the candies in a special coffee cup for a gift.
