Lots of funby IowaDave (4 out of 5 stars)

This baby does what I got it for, and that's blasting some tennis balls. It's the fun I thought it would be. Only one thing keeps it from getting five stars and that's the price. Like another viewer mentioned, this is literally a few pieces of PVC, albeit painted a nice black and assembled for you. You could build this yourself for considerably less money. But, if you're unsure like I was and are willing to shell out the dough, you won't regret it. Don't buy the grill igniters as a spare for this, they are not made for a potato gun and they won't work. The igniter that's supposed to come with it was omitted from my order so I had to contact the company, they shipped one out right away. They said you can buy the igniter in the camping section of some stores, but I haven't confirmed that yet. Bummer that I had to wait, but it wasn't long. I bought a couple cans of Aqua Net hairspray at the local grocery store and it works real well. The hair spray is sticky and messy, so you'll want to clean this thing off a little before putting it away. It's funny, you melt the "hair" on tennis balls. I did try a few potatoes without the tennis ball adapter. They definitely go farther, but again, it's messier. The manufacturer also has a website video that gives a few tips on shooting the potatoes, so I'd recommend viewing that. (I didn't know you need to push the potato down the tube before firing.) Overall, a very fun toy. I'm sure the folks on my block thought something was going on (yes, I fired it in town). Everyone smiles when they see what the heck is going on, you can hear everything on my block and it sounds like a big gun going off. Flicking the ignitor while holding the canon properly is tough so I just let my grandsons spray the hairspray while I held the canon. I'm sure they'll love it as they get a little older. As long as you make sure no one is in the firing path, I don't even consider this a real dangerous toy, but it definitely requires adult supervision. I think everyone needs to try a spud gun at least once in their lifetime.
Assemble this Item with Extreme CARE and this makes a Decent Potato Gun !

Great Spud Gun, Decent Seller but the Ignition Part can be made much better. Even with EXTREME care the" L" bracket that holds the Flint Tube and the Striker Tube broke while I was installing it. I would not use Brass as Metal for this type Igniter (way too soft.) Stainless Steel would have given this ITEM 5 Star's. I Contacted Seller about me "breaking" the Bracket. They sent me to THEIR Web Site http://www.quartermilecannons.com/Replacement-Parts_c_17.html were I was able to repurchase a "Replacement" Igniter Kit for $14.00. The site only sell's Igniter's and Flint's? All in All, All is Well.
Assembly was frustrating, but it can sure launch a potato a long, long distance.

I struggled with assembly due to have large hands which made the placement of the ignitor (literally) painful in that I shared some skin off of my knuckles. Once assembled, it worked as expected, but couldn't get it to fire a second time likely due to improper assembly of the ignitor. One day I'll fix it and/or replace with an ignitior which my fairly normal-sized grown-up man hands can assemble. Curious if anyone else put there had the same issue, and if so, how they overcame it.

I had purchased this last year for a Christmas gift for my son. I recently found out that it never worked. After contacting the seller almost a year later, he was apologetic and told me they have perfected the potato gun and will send a new one out to me free of charge. My son and his friends were thrilled, as this one worked great! They've already gone through two bags of potatoes just this afternoon! Excellent product and excellent seller.

This item never worked, not even once. Defective spark device. I emailed them to send me a new part and never got a reply. If the seller contacts me and sends me a replacement for the defective part I will remove this negative review. Until then, be wary.
