Good stuff for night runners
by Nathan Fortenberry (5 out of 5 stars)
January 30, 2015

I run primarily at night and often cross through traffic, and needed some good lights.

These things are incredibly visible, with what looks like some powerful LEDs diffused through plastic, giving a nearly solid bar of light on the heel of your shoe. Even while looking forward you can notice a halo of light underneath you.

I think some people were also concerned that these might come off? I've run a few weeks with mine now and give them a tug from time to time to see, and I really see no issue with grip. They seem to hold on pretty tight, and have little teeth to dig into your shoes.

after finding that one of these was nice, I did go ahead and buy a second. the only argument I have for doing so is that, in the dark, you are more readily recognized as a runner.

Is it completely necessary to buy two? no.

should you? sure, if you buy my argument or you like having more toys. and what runner doesn't like toys?

Love the idea, worked while functioning, died in 4 mo...
by Halbon (4 out of 5 stars)
February 1, 2018

I bought this in September. Since then I used it couple of times in last 4 mo.

Now, this stopped turning on.

I don't think it's the battery, it is way too soon for that.

Of course, I made sure it turned off after the use. Otherwise, you will know (it flashes pretty vigorously)

I'm disappointed that now I can't even return this...

I do like the idea and I was going to use it for long time but now it is just sitting there...

Update: 2/8/18

I called Nathan Support.

I was told to replace the battery. Why? The retail (Amazon) had this in stock for a while and the juice ran out.

I was hesitant but did go and replace the batteries.

Now it works!

I hope that they sell it with battery detached so this would not happen.

I see many others complaining about the similar situation and I think it got to do with already-drained batteries.

Anyway, I like the product itself so now I give it 4 stars.

design is not ready for primetime. eight little tiny micro screws to replace the batteries. hope you have watchmakers tools and at least a half hour of dicking around every time you need to change the batteries. and don't you lose one of those screws!

additionally, I bought 2. one arrived with the switch not working.

Awesome for Biking, walking and KIDS!! Pro Tip: Buy two different colors!
by MK (5 out of 5 stars)
September 23, 2018

I had the red pair and it worked out great. Unfortunately my niece lost one of them so I ordered the green spur.

Now I Love the two colors combo when walking or biking at night. Its super visible and attention grabbing.

They Clip on easily to your shoes and don't fall off when running.

I read some reviews about issues when replacing the battery but I have been using mine for a while and haven't had any battery issues yet. As long as you turn them off right away after using, they seem to be lasting a while. If anything, I can update the review in the future.

Great until needs a battery

Works great when it works! Fatal flaw in battery replacement where batteries are attached to motherboards on either side of the spur. One jostle of a wire and you have catastrophic failure of the whole thing.

High visibility, but grip loosens over time.
by MajorGroove (4 out of 5 stars)
January 19, 2016

I got 2 of these for the express purpose of night running in my neighborhood. 3 months and 100+ miles later, here are my thoughts:
- Battery life: no problems. I use them on the flashing mode and they're both as bright as they day I got them.
- Grip: Initially great. They stuck to my shoes like burrs. For reference, I wear a women's size 10 wide. They were so snug at the beginning that they were difficult to put on. But over time, they've relaxed, and they sometimes work their way loose now. They're not falling off (yet), but I can see where they might.
- Visibility: amazing. They are BRIGHT green and really grab peoples' attention. Cars give me a wider berth than they do by day.

Overall, I think these are a great safety enhancement for my runs, but I'd like it if they attached more securely. Pretty sure I'll lose them on the street one day, but when I do, I'll probably buy new ones.

Bright, lightweight, and reliable
by BPinNY (5 out of 5 stars)
October 27, 2016

I love these! I am more visible while I run at night and I am confident they will stay on my sneakers. They have little teeth at the ends of the arms that squeeze and bite into the soles of your sneakers. The light is green and has two settings: steady on and blinking. The spur lights are light weight and have held up to almost a year's worth of use without faltering.

Will "walk" but appears plenty sturdy on ASICS Kayano size 9.5 shoes. Very Visable.
by Dylan Jackson (4 out of 5 stars)
October 9, 2014

First of all, all the reviews appear to be based upon how well the spur stays on certain brands/shapes/sizes of shoes. That being said, I'm running ASICS Kayano size 9.5 shoes. The Kayanos are a stability shoe, so tend to be more sturdy and heavier than many shoes on the market. My typical runs are 5-10 miles on asphalt and hard pack trails. I haven't tried these on more serious trails (although I don't see an need to use a red blinky where there are no cars).

This is very bright, and in my opinion plenty bright.

Another important point, this spur is basically a plastic band that is holds onto the shoe with some small spikes and tension alone. For my shoes, the spur may not stay exactly where I placed it, but will slowly "walk" its way to a slightly narrower part of the heel. Not a problem, but something to keep in mind.

Again, this blinkie appears to work fine for my ASICS in size 9.5, but as the saying goes, your mileage may vary.

Great for when your running at night and dont get killed
by Chantelle got the best reviews (5 out of 5 stars)
October 9, 2018

This item has a very bright color light and doesn't fall off your shoe it is good quality rubber and the reflective light can be seen from very far away because I tried it first on my Husband at night and you can literally notice him coming from a whole block away. Perfect device for not getting killed while you're exercising outside at night. I've purchased others and the light wasn't as bright. A+++++++++++++
