Great Dash Cam and Excellent Customer Serviceby G. Lucas (5 out of 5 stars)

I bought this dash cam after reading about them online - sounded like good insurance if you are ever in an accident to prove if you are not at fault. Installation in my Ford F-150 was easy - I ran the USB cable under my headliner, down the side molding, up under the dash and plugged into my USB port. Hardest part was removing and reinstalling the side trim, but the whole install took less than 1 hour and all the wires are hidden. I used the suction mount and had to install to the right of the mirror, as the suction cup would not stay on the textured portion of the windshield behind the mirror. It has been installed now for several weeks and is still holding strong. I expect I will have to remount the suction cup periodically, but that is no big deal. I also installed the Aukey GM-32 GPS accessory and it simply plugs into the DR01 and automatically sets up. I stuffed the GPS wire under the headliner as well.
Only problem I had was that I could not update my DR01 firmware. I tried several times and finally sent a note to Aukey. They replied quickly and sent me a new firmware file by email. This also did not work, so they checked again and said that there was a problem with my camera and they would send a replacement unit immediately. I received the replacement DR01, checked the firmware and installed the camera and it is working great! I say the Aukey customer service is excellent! The picture quality is terrific and I used a 128GB Sandisk microSD card, so it will record about 20 hours of HD video before starting to overwrite the earliest file.
The camera is so small and light that I don't even notice it is there. I left my truck in the hot sun all day with a silver sun deflector in the windshield. When I got back into my truck, the DR01 was so hot I couldn't touch it, but it worked fine. From now on I slip the sun deflector screen between the windshield and the DR01 to keep it cooler.
I highly recommend this unit - value for the price I paid and the excellent customer service is well worth the money!

The AUKEY dash cam came with a suction cup mount and a mount that has a 3M tape on the back so you can do a more permanent type of mounting. I personally used the suction cup mount, which seems to be a good quality suction cup. Additionally, the dash cam has a 13' power cable and separate USB connector that is accompanied with six cable clips with 3M tape on the back so you can route the power cable around your windshield; that is if you do not want to do a super clean cable routing that may require a little more skill.
Setup
The AUKEY dash cam works well. The configuration/set up process is super easy. I did not need to use the instructions that came with it to configure it. Basically, you insert a Micro SD card, turn the power on, set your date and time, and then run through the other quick settings and you are ready to go within five minutes.
I did look at the instruction manual so I could comment on my review. The manual is clearly written and organized in six separate languages.
Video Quality
So far, I the dash cam for two days and the video quality and field of vision is really good. I set my video to record at 1080p/30 frames per second. There are other options, like loop recording, and how long you want the video segments ect.., but that will be your choice. I am also using a 32GB Micro SD card, which will record and hold more then enough video.
I used the dash cam driving at night and day and I am impressed with the video quality. Unfortunately, I am only able to upload one video, so I uploaded a 39 second snippet that shows traffic at an intersection and pedestrians during the day. I was able to attach two screenshot of video at night. One screenshot shows fireworks that were captured with the dash cam while driving down a two lane highway and the other image is also a screenshot of video of a gas station at night..
I chose this camera after experience with another brand dash cam. It was some no name brand I bought off of Alibaba, and I got what I paid for; it only lasted about eight months. Anyway, it was a lesson learned, and after some additional research I chose the AUKEY dash cam because of the Sony Exmor image sensor. The Sony Exmor sensor makes a difference in the quality of image, and now I understand that not all 1080p are equal in quality. Additionally, I just ordered another one for my wife's car after seeing first hand the video quality of this dash cam.
Conclusion
If you looking for a dash cam, I'd give this one a try. I hope this review and video helps in your decision.
MicroSD card not working

This product is bad for me, although it's easy to install. I bought two for each of my card. But after that, I couldn't make my existing SD cards work. I spent a lot of time on this.
My first card is Kingston 16G. In the beginning, it works on this card, but after one day, it starts refusing work. It says: TF card write speed too slow. I don't know why it starts not working after one day. Also, I don't know why the product has to check this. It can be definitely better if it can be recovered with configuring lower resolution. Based on this, I may have to return one of them.
My second microSD is 64G. I formatted and installed. But it failed for the format is wrong. I spent a lot time on this and finally turns out it's due to Windows format it ad xfat by default. I have to use tools to limit the card to 32G, and then format it as FAT32. I know this may be some limitation for the chipset used, but the warning message has to be improved to guide users better!
Don't waste your money on this cheaply made camera

The pictures are outstanding. The support on the camera to connect the camera to the windshield stand is loose but worse yet, they have no customer service telephone number. It is all done by messaging and they take so damn long to respond it's ridiculous. Also, they give you the run around when responding after you waited 2 more days only to get another request this time for video of the problem. I sent them a picture with an arrow explaining the problem. I am finally to the point where I will send this thing back and find another manufacturer that is a little more professional and cares about their customers more.
Reasonable price and works!

Well I went insane buying my first dashcam, waisted to much time spending hours on web reading tons of reviews, many fake, and I purchased the A 119 with gps and A119 without, and still both were DOA, with isssues, and returned them..
Finally I bought the Aukey because it looks simple and it had the things I liked,, a suction mount( easier to guess ideal place to mount and move around),, A Sony lens, especially good for night vision, and a capacitor for leaving dashcam up all the time in heat and cold. Let me say up front, no I dont work or Aukey and I wish I could say I got this free or discounted( god how do you get hooked up with that scam program? I guess you have to know the right people) but I did not,,
What I like is REASONABLE price, not hiked up because everyone is buying it,, , its low cost enough that if someone wants it,, I wont cry because I spent a hundred or two on something that is overpriced.
I like capacitor over battery,
small size
suction mount, which works amazing on glass, but be warned it wont grab on to the "dotty" part of windshield,, but you do get a extra mount with a adhesive pad.
I hate reading manuals, and I was able to figure this unit out in less than a half hour,, by playing with buttons,,
Aukey got back quickly via email with two questions.
It holds up to a 128 mb card with out going crazy formatting on web,, it formats in unit.. I used a 64 mb card I already owned.
The only con is its not "wedge" shaped and super stealth,, but I placed it right next to my mirror, between a hang tag and Toll Pass unit and its hidden enough for me,,
I did hot wire in, with a kit from the "A119" competitor,, the plugs in units all seem to same size anyway.. and it turns on with key,, I did not want to leave parking on,, as where I park has continuous cars going by, so whats the point
Whats nice also is you can play back if in a accident,, just have to have power to unit,,
I found the night vision to be good, of course its not like a security camera with infred but good enough if fI got into a night time incident, it would be seen,, and day time was amazing,, it does record a full 170 wide view,, and I could read plates night or day, of course if you just wanted to read plates,, then a 130 view would make them closer,, but putting the sd card in my desktop, I could see all I wanted,,
Well I never thought I would find something that worked, but so far,, this is great, and if it still works great,, I am buying a second one for rear,,
I found the the plug in cord very ample for plug in use,, and it does come with a dual cigarette holder,, , and yes it is kind of small,, I think one company makes them for every brand out there:) ..
No dumb software to down load,,
GREAT SUPPORT! Replaces with no hassle!

For me, it was this or the YI camera, similar priced.
The YI has a little better quality I think & wifi access, sleeker looking design as well.
But the International version excludes the 20$ accesories you'll want such as the clips, mounts, and 2 usb car charger AUKEY's provides.
Unless you're making a Youtube channel for driving, the AUKEY one should be fine. I got mine as part of the lightning deal ($47).
If even the video quality is not the best, get this camera because AUKEY support is one of the most amazing out there. I've dealt with them before with their other products and they are there to help you. They will no hassle, send you a new device if yours is broken at any point during the warranty. YI is based in China and you know having to deal with foreign support is a big hassle, I know it is for me at least. You want peace of mind in owning a camera that will last you a TWO FULL YEARS? Then this is it.
Having a capacitor instead of lithium battery will also ensure this camera takes a beating through the hot summers.
That 2 YEARS of not having to worry about buying a new camera is great. I could get a better camera, but why bother if the support is not there to replace it if it fails? AUKEY seemed the way to go for now!
YI warranty only has a shiesty 30 DAYS warranty! NOOOOO. I do NOT want to buy a new camera if that one happens to be a lemon after only 30 days.
When you have to deal with AUKEY support, you'll understand finally why everyone is saying their support rocks!
EDIT 10/14/17
Camera still working great! Suction cups falls off every now and then during the hot summer days, but it's not a big deal.

I have just ordered the 2nd one.
* Pros:
- Nice recorded picture
- Compact
- It comes with a 12V cigarette lighter plug which gives 2 USB ports (5V/3.1A)
- It does not draw much electricity so an external battery can be used to provide power for several hours. From my experiment with my RAVPower 6700mAh battery, my camera could record continuously for 16.5 hours.
* Cons:
- microSD card slot is at top of the dash cam so the dash cam has to be detached from its windshield mount in order to take out the card
- The monitor is sometimes turned on forever after the car engine is started. I have to turn it off manually.
- It has no infrared night vision so the recorded picture is only clear when the vehicle headlights are on.

Great Dash Cam

Very, Very happy with the product, I only wish the attachment was on top of the Dash cam, they have it on the top front. Other then that, I think its a great dash cam.
Why, very easy to setup
I like that you can have a 128GB sim card
Video is clean at night
The screen saver
and so much more for a dash cam.
I believe most of the review are fake reviews by either the manufacture or hired writter

The Device is very slow and not reliability. Sometime it does not automatically turn on.
The start time takes for ever. The resolution of the LCD is poor.
I cannot imagine how this product get 4.7 or 4.8 stars. The fact I know is it is from a China manufacture, which means both designed, manufactured and sold by china company.
I personally suspect there are whole lot of fake reviews here.
Please think before you buy.
