Best addition to my toolbox!
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)
November 1, 2016

This is the most handy addition to my toolbox. No need to carry multiple drills and drivers around anymore. I own both the Black and Decker Matrix and the Craftsman Bolt On drills- This attachment as well as the others seem to be forward and backwards compatible. I was able to mix and match these. This driver seems to just barley underperform my Dewalt brushless impact driver (barley noticeable but the Dewalt does drive lag screws slightly quicker) This setup is 1/2 of the cost of my Dewalt impact driver and does the same thing. I wanted to wait a few months to review this to check quality and I have 0 complaints. I would recommend this add on to anyone who ownes the matrix or bolt on sets.

Cast Iron Build Broke, See image

Cast Iron split in half! Unit is still under B+D's 2 year warranty so I will try to get it replaced. Photo says it all.. Very disappointed that it broke on me however it was a great impact driver when it did work. My 2 year warranty literally ends next month so I had this unit for 23 months before breaking and it sure got plenty of use. I will update my review if it does get replaced under warranty. I had had a previous chuck driver attachment for MATRIX go bad in the past and B+D replaced the unit without issue I hope the same applies here!

and i like it so much that it has stayed on for ...

when i first purchased the matrix system, i was not sure i would ever really need to buy any of the attachments. this impact driver is the latest in my "collection". I needed an impact driver for a single job that i had that almost required it. priced them out at local shops. even the "cheapy tool shop that everybody knows about". then i stumbled across this. i didnt even know this attachment was available. and it was cheaper than getting a whole new tool. well it did the job. and i like it so much that it has stayed on for all my bolt pre-tightening jobs. made things much quicker and easier. there is no torque setting so you will need to go in and torque to spec after, but this gets the bolts "good'n'tight" real quick. one of the most useful attachments i have purchased for my matrix system.

Good addition to the Matrix system
by Tim T (5 out of 5 stars)

This impact does a great job. I've used this on several occasions and I can not complain at all. I love the Matrix system and these attachments really help keep the clutter down. The way I have used this is to attach a screw bit in this and a drill bit in the drill head. I first drill the holes, then swap the head to the impact and drive the screw in utilizing a single person assembly line type of system. It's a perfect set up for small workshops or the weekend DIYer to have a great set of tools without needing space for dedicated single purpose tools.

Better than expected - very nice and recommended.

I wasn't sure what to expect on this, could it really function as an Impact Driver? I was skeptical, but the price is good so I took a shot with it. Was doing framing using SPAX framing screws, so got to try this out all day. For speed, the SPAX do not need to be predrilled, which means more effort in driving them in. So, attached this attachment to the cordless Matrix base and got to work. Wow, this thing worked great - and on the first screw it almost drove the screw through the 2x4. Wow, it's working like a real impact driver. I'm completely impressed.

Ok, this is not as powerful as the Dewalt dedicated Impact Drivers we use. Those are for job site work, going all day. This Matrix impact driver isn't going to replace those, it's more for the homeowner and it works great. I did use it on the job site for a few days straight, driving countless screws from sunrise to sunset. It performed flawlessly, and I'm fairly happy with the battery life too. I wouldn't pick this for heavy contractor work, but I now have one at the house for general work around home. We've used it many many times and it adds great functionality to the Matrix toolkit bag we have. Seems just about any repair or upgrade at home, I just grab the Matrix bag and it'll handle it. Way way easier than lugging up many bulky dedicated tools. Great idea having this modular set, and this impact driver is a fantastic addition.

Ok, that's all positive - why the 4 stars? Power. It works great and had good power. I gave it 4 stars because it's not as powerful as many dedicated impact drivers. It's a great tool, but dedicated units typically have a little more umpf behind them. That's why the 1 star is missing. That said, I love this thing.

Nice addition to my B&D drill!

I had no idea this existed! I knew that my B&D drill had interchangeable attachments, but this small impact driver attachment has proven valuable for light-duty work on a car, on wood siding/carpentry, and other projects. For use in a car, especially, it made speedy work of disassembling quite a few things under the hood in order to prepare for a cylinder head transplant. It is also good for reattaching the wheels to the car--I can spin the lug nuts on firmly enough to hold the wheels snugly before dropping it back to the ground, where I use a torque wrench to firm up the lug nuts per the factory specs. For driving screws into wood, it works way better than the standard drill attachment, due to the impact feature helping to prevent the screw from seizing up in the wood as it turns.

It was more useful than I thought it would be. Highly recommended!

A must-have for any Matrix owner.

If you have a Matrix Drill... You NEED this attachment. It's not even a question... I use this over the standard drill. This drives screws in with easy. You don't have to kill yourself pushing in hard on the screws to prevent them from slipping or stripping. This thing does it all for you.

Works pretty well

I have the 20v max black and decker drill, bought it because I liked the idea of swappable tips.

It has worked for me for a few years now and I figured I would give this a try.

I don't believe it has 100ft/lbs like it claims, but it does have more than 35, probably around 50-70 I think. That's what it feels like anyway.

Either way it works pretty well for me, it's a little bit on the expensive side at $40 but for an impact driver it does the job pretty well. Tip is easy to swap.

New Favorite Attachment for Matrix Line
by M. Rogers (5 out of 5 stars)
May 9, 2016

Once again I find myself impressed with the Matrix line from B&D. I was using 6" lag screws when building a huge swing set for my kids and wanted the the assurance of an impact driver, but having recently bought a second battery for my B&D Matrix tool I didn't really want to buy another dedicated impact driver and have to deal with a different type of battery and charger. I stumbled upon this and am glad I decided to give it a shot because it was perfect for the job. I've used those same screws for other projects and the regular driver attachment was not up to the task whereas this product performed flawlessly.

Nice to use

There's something weirdly satisfying about using this tool to sink 3" deck screws. I've used it to put up over 100 feet of wood fence panels, and rebuilding my deck was a breeze. Just make sure you get a few spare, high-quality impact bits. It's such a pain to break the driver bit halfway through a job, and I found that using higher quality bits leads to less slippage and easier driving. Overall a very useful tool that makes screw driving a hundred times easier.
