Got this little harness backpack today and couldn't be more pleased. My littlest daughter is in a short park and Rec toddler training intro to preschool class and this is perfect to take her snacks in. We had another harness bag but the closure broke, so I decided to try to use the skip hop brand next. She picked out the butterfly and is so excited to use it. I love the harness backpacks for her class time as they snap in the front. So for my three year old if she's got a heavy water bottle inside, the straps won't slide off her shoulders. More time consuming to get off and on, but she likes it as it's more secure. We don't use the lease strap with it at all. I do love however the attention to detail in everyone of the skip hop products, and that the harness clip is a heavy duty caribiner clip. (The clip looks green in the photo-it's not, it a shiny silver. ) The material is stiff to help hold the structure of the bag, and the colors are bright and fun. This bag also holds quite a lot as far as snacks and lunch for a toddler go. You could also use it for a change of clothes and a pull up diaper and wipes. The inside is wipable material. I also purchased the skip hop butterfly pouches separate to place inside the bag filled with snacks and stop wasting little zip lock baggies all the time. The pouches are 5x7" and 4x6". And the larger pouch just fits inside the harness bag. The bag is small. Next year when my daughter is at preschool everyday, I plan on buying the larger butterfly kids backpack so that she can put projects and paper work from school to bring home as well as a lunch box. The straps on the bag are padded a bit as well. The butterfly wings are three dimensional and come out on both sides a bit for a fun look. There is a water bottle slot on the side but it's too small to fit in a camelback water bottle like my girls take. Possibly the skip hop water bottle fits? Not sure since we don't have one of those. But I think a really thin small water bottle or juice box might fit. The zipper pull is a bit stiff is far since its brand new and I wish the pull were a little flower as what's on he small snack bag, but oh well. Totally cute and can't wait to use it for preschool!

So, so cute! My daughter is autistic and doesn't always stay close. It's sometimes difficult to manage her and a 6 month old solo. I bought this specifically with hiking in mind. I feel bad Id often keep her in the stroller while other kids walk...but she gets a taste of freedom and just RUNS and never looks back!!! I haven't used it hiking yet, but so far she's had no complaints in church and a few other places we've tested it!

I've seen similar products at Walmart, they were cute but it was basically a non functional stuffed animal on the back. I love that this can hold a few items! this is her "emergency pack". I keep an empty sippy cup (because I often forget to bring her one, & she can't drink through a straw), one diaper, a few wipes, a squeezie baby food, & a pack of fruit snacks! There's room for more stuff too!

The only con is it'd be nice if the leash handle was a bit larger. I have a small / average size wrist and it doesn't easily slip into the loop. It's not a struggle or anything, but could be smoother.

This is a really great backpack. Not only is it cute, but it helps me keep my toddler near me. My son is about 23 pounds, and is 22 months. This fits him well. Also, it is large enough to pack his lunch box, his snacks, and a few toys.

Con: my only con is that I wish the leash connected at the top. I say this because if my son was to pull away and I was to hold on to it, the backpack sort of rises. I've tested this out with his turtle backpack (different company) who's leash connects at the top, and it is a better idea.

Overall, I enjoy this backpack very much. I ignore the crazy looks from people. My kid is right near me and cannot run into the street. So I am very happy with this product and will order another character or two to match with his outfits (I'm that mom lol)

Adorable & Practical

This really came in handy on our vacation last spring with our daughter who is on the spectrum. She isn't directly communicative & likes to run off, so taking her to the Monterey Bay Aquarium was a little unnerving. This gave us some peace of mind. It's the perfect size, small enough to not be overbearing but enough space to carry a few small things. I like that it looks like she's just wearing a backpack. We didn't have to use the leash very much but it was relatively discreet when we did, & I like that it detaches too.

Edit: Size is smaller than the regular backpacks, but I found this to be a good thing. You want it to fit a toddler/preschooler - I have a big/tall 3 year old & it fits great. It is about the height of a standard water bottle (fits inside zipped). I included a picture of it next to our other Skip Hop backpack for reference.

I have been so happy with this little backpack. I originally bought it when my son began to walk as I wanted a leash/tether for him. Unfortunately he just fell over whenever I pulled on it so the tether has not has much use. Even with that I LOVE this backpack. My son is now 3 and we use it weekly. It's the perfect size to fit such things as: few diapers, small pack of wipes, snacks, water bottle, toy, my own cell-phone. It's the perfect size for him to wear at the park or playground. The little clip keeps it on and it's so small that it doesn't really interfere with his play. The backpack washes well an I've just tossed it in the laundry a few times.

I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews before I decided on this one. This toddler leash and backpack are very durable and well made. The clip on the leash and the clasp are metal, not plastic. This gives me peace of mind that I won't have to worry about the plastic clip breaking. I do wish the wrist opening on the leash was a little bigger.

The backpack is sturdy and while a little small, perfect for him. My grandson is 3, but nearly the size of a 5 yr old, and it fits him well. Very adjustable so it will fit smaller or bigger children. It has a net side pocket that's perfect for a spippy cup or bottle of water. The inside can hold some wipes (I put some in a Ziploc bag), a few diapers and a couple of small toys. I feel that my grandson is much safer in a crowd now and I don't have to worry about him running off.

This was perfect for giving my husband and I peace of mind while shopping or walking through the mall with our kiddo. I purchased it before going to Florida, and I'm glad that I did. It seems like a rugged little backpack, but we purchased a matching orange dog leash instead of the one that came with. The one that came in the packaging was extremely short, and felt flimsy. Since that was the tether keeping our child with us, we wanted something more durable. If the tether had been longer and a little bit more heavy-duty, this product definitely would have gotten five stars from us. Our son likes it a lot, and is happy when we put it on him. It is perfect for his water bottle, a tiny book, and maybe a few Matchbox cars or something like that. I would recommend it to others, but follow the reviews like I did and purchase a separate matching dog leash for a better, more durable tether.

i LOVE it!

I recently decided that I do not like my diaper bag. It is a really nice Petunia Pickle Bottom one but I just feel like it is so big and holds nothing. I don't usually carry much with me in my diaper bag because I also have my purse and I have a bag in my trunk with extra diapers, wipes, and clothes. So, in reality, all I carry with me is a couple of diapers, wipes, an extra onesie, a sippy and a snack. Maybe a little toy. Do I really need a diaper bag?

My girl is 14 months old, walking everywhere. We are now practicing when we get out of the car, we hold hands and walk to wherever we need. But with a purse and a diaper bag, I always end up feeling like "mother of the year" when I end up hitting her with a bag on accident.

That's when genius hit. Why not have her carry her own stuff? The wheels started turning and I decided to look into this.

There is one catch- my girl is tiny (3rd percentile). So the bag had to be perfectly sized so that this could actually work.

Well the results are in- I LOVE it !!! and so does she!!! and it fits!!! and it has a harness (leash -but completely optional).

My 14 month old daughter now walks around with it on her back, so stinkin' cute. I melt every time I see her.

It is well made, super cute. Vibrant colors and there is enough space to put a few diapers in, wipes, a sippy cup and some snacks for my daughter to take with her. I could probably fit a small change of outfit in there too.

She loves it too and even though she's only 14 months old, she acts and feels like a grown up.

Worth buying this just for the cuteness level !!!

I was really on the fence about a putting my toddler on a "leash" like a little doggy, because of the stigma that comes with it. I used to think negatively of parents that used a product like this; and I'm sorry now for every time I've had that thought.

My wife and I were still unsure when we ordered this backpack, but in the worst case, we can just use this as a cute backpack for our little one.

It has been incredibly helpful to have this. When we didn't have it, I would walk behind my daughter in the mall or grocery store. Of course other shoppers are not looking down to make sure a toddler doesn't run in front of them, so if I see some impending shopping cart or knee to my daughter's face, I sprint a couple steps forward and keep her from harm. A hour later, I've done 17 sprints and now my daughter is hungry. I'm exhausted and still have to feed her. FML.

Make no mistake. You won't be able use this leash as you do for a dog. With a dog, you are in charge and can tug on the leash to get the doggy going if she stops somewhere. With a toddler, she is still in charge of where you're going. If you pull on it, she's going to fall on her butt. Your kid walks around and you follow her with loose leash in-hand. If you see a shopping cart coming around a corner, hold the leash back so it uneventfully stops her where she is. Accident avoided.

Ignore what other people say about products like this one. Those people aren't the ones that have to do 17 sprints in an hour.

This is my 2nd one first we had the owl for our daughter love the harness backpack she cant get it off yet. Needed a replacement a mouse broke into my car and chewed the strap which gace me the excuse to get the unicorn. 🦄. Rhese hold ul great always get compliments.i put her wipes, few diapers, snack and sippy in and she carries it. I try not to use the leash and make her hold my hand. But love the top strap to pick her up in meltdown mode. We do use the stap at bigger places llike the zoo. People do look at you and judge you. But hey you didnt loOse your kiddo. Super easy to wash and clean. Very durable. My daughter has had one since just over a year and shes little over 2 now. Gets many compliments.
