Nice looking cover with a fatal flawby MrCourtney (2 out of 5 stars)

I liked everything about it - except the cover doesn't shut off the iPad Mini. It's a cute cover that has a great look but the four corner pieces (or small straps) that hold the Mini in place also keep the front cover from lying close enough to the screen for the magnets to work. When you close the cover the Mini stays on unless you press the cover hard and closer to the screen. That will work. But once you let go it will back off enough to waken the unit. This significantly shortens the battery life unless you have the automatic "screen off" set to such a short time that it's impracticable for use.
There is a strap on the cover than can be used to wrap around the entire unit to hold the cover tighter - if you use it. This seems to be designed to make up for that flaw than anything useful. Even then it's a hit-or-miss thing. It's your choice as to whether this "problem" is worth living with to have an otherwise interesting cover. For me, it's not.
Don't judge a book by its cover!!!

How disappointed I was when this case arrived. I paid twice as much for this case as I did for others so I was expecting a case of better quality or at least equal quality. If it's looks that you're going for, then I say, "You've got it." If you're going for the protection of your iPad, I'd say, "This IS NOT the one." The quality is very flimsy. Unlike other cases that I bought from Amazon, this one did not have the elastic band to keep it closed when it is not in use. Also, unlike other cases, there were no grooves to help with the standing. Needless to say I will return the case because I feel taken advantage of because of good looks. When one pays $35.00 for an iPad case, the looks and quality should match. This was not the case. At best, in my opinion, this case is worth $10.00. The only thing that it offers is looks !!!

To address other review I have read, this case DOES have the strap to keep it closed and DOES have grooves to keep it standing...what they DONT advertise is that this case is NOT JUST FOR IPAD MINI!! It also fits kindle and A bunch of other devices...what does this mean? It means it DOES NOT fit the iPad mini perfectly :( the things that hold it in by the corners are stretched like crazy and all crooked because it wasn't made specifically for iPad mini (probably something slightly smaller). This causes the case to not close completely and not turn the ipad off with the Smart Cover at times. I wanted it to fit perfectly and they should advertise the fact that it is a "universal" case on Amazon just the way they do on the packaging for the item.. Beware
OK case, protects ipad in an inconspicuous way. *UPDATE at bottom*

The front and back cover is hard enough to protect the case from drops (which I have a few times now). You could probably get a case for cheaper that does the job just as well, but there is definitely the neat factor of having the case really look like its a notebook. The clips hold the ipad mini firmly in place, which is nice because that was a concern of mine.
The case definitely feels nice also. I was a bit concerned that it was just going to be a hard cheap plastic front and back, selling itself mostly off the novelty of it looking like an old composition book. However, it feels quite nice, the front and back cover is a soft touch, lightly rubberized material. The inside cover is a rubber textured material that feels nice, but unfortunately leaves the same textured pattern marks on your ipad mini screen. Not a big deal, it's about as noticeable as the usual finger marks you'd find on the screen anyways.
The cover also has the magnets in it to do the smartlock feature of the apple smart covers.
I feel like I should reiterate what some other reviews are saying about the half fold stand feature. It's kind of not that useful. In order to use it you have to unclip the left side near the binding, then this allows the back cover to bend in half and angle the ipad in a landscape position. The ipad then solely relies on the friction of the rubber inside cover to keep it from sliding down from the angle you have it tilted. The problem is the grip the remaining clips have on the ipad are not tight enough to prevent the ipad from sliding out of their hold. I read another review of someone mentioning that their ipad slipped right out of the clips and sliding out of the case all together in this mode, and I can definitely see this happening. It's really not that bad and not guaranteed to happen, and it has yet to happen to me, but her situation is definitely believable. If you are aware of this, and are careful though, I doubt this will happen to you.
Despite that one aspect, it's a great case. If you think the case looks good, and are unsure if its worth it, I'd say just go for it.
UPDATE: I had it for a few weeks and then dropped it from my bed on to the carpet not far, about 2 feet (its a low bed) and one of the corner plastic pieces that holds the ipad in place snapped off. I was kind of surprised because the fall was not far at all. Kind of crappy. Not worth the money in quality.
Only selling point now is novelty.
I like this iPad cover a lot

I like this iPad cover a lot. It's fun that it looks like the old marble notebooks. My one and only complaint is that the corners of my iPad are not covered/protected if I drop it. Since that happened to me once before resulting in a crack in my screen, I was a little disappointed that this cover doesn't protect the edges well. But it's really a cute cover despite that fact!

I bought this case because the picture displayed a thin, snap-in, case. Based on the second picture where the iPad was bent over in a stand, the back of the iPad can be seen. However, the case that arrived was thick and had straps that hold the iPad in. It is protective, and functional. But, I would NOT have purchased it if the pictures were accurate.
I think this is a cute case and I love it because it is very unique

I was expecting a case that would protect my whole ipad but this is not it. I have a ipad mini 4 and this is designed for a smaller tablet. I can get it to fit through the little triangle strings that hold the ipad to the case but they hit the volume so my volume is constantly being raised. I think this is a cute case and I love it because it is very unique. But I don't feel that it will last very long since the strings are being pulled so that it fits my ipad.

Don't buy this case!

Don't buy this case. First, I was disappointed that the color I received is not the same as the one in the picture. The picture looks like a bright green and in person the color is a dark almost hunter green. Other than that the case looked cool which is the ONLY reason I kept it for as long as I did. The next problem is getting the iPad to stay upright. The rubberized interior stops the case from sliding for about a week and then it just slides down every time. There are no grooves. No problem, I'll just put something in front of it to stop it (like my iPhone). Well that keeps the bottom from sliding, but once the bottom stops sliding it just slides out of the grips at the top. The whole iPad isn't actually secured. You slide 3 quarters of it in and then the final grip isn't really a grip its just a flat piece of plastic. So it doesn't snap into place. When you put it upright the top of the case slides right up off of the iPad and the iPad falls flat. It is a balancing act. After a month the automatic sleep/wake when you open the cover stops working. Finally, the cover is flimsy and gets warped. Now it looks like I have a composition book that was left out it the rain. Its a piece of garbage for how expensive it is. I'd return it, but I kept it too long they probably wouldn't take it back. Had I reviewed this product the first week it would have been 4 stars, but after a month it is better off in the trash. I have other iHome brand products and I love them, but this one was really disappointing.

We don't like how the corner pieces hang over the sides of the iPad. That can interfere with what we are trying to do on the screen. We will keep it only because it costs too much to ship back. Would not recommend or order again
