Product Description

Who Killed the Archmage? Was it Tordek in the Dragon's Lair with the Flaming Battle Axe? Or Mialee in the Dungeon with the Staff of Power? A group of heroic adventurers has been called to the Archmage's castle. But one of those heroes isn't who he or she appears to be. One of the heroes is a doppelganger, a monster that can look like anyone. In the darkest part of the night, the doppelganger kills the Archmage, triggering a spell that seals the castle until the monster is caught. Now, in the grand tradition of Clue, the six suspects must determine which one of them is the doppelganger: Regdar the Human Fighter, Tordek the Dwarf Fighter, Lidda the Halfling Rogue, Mialee the Elf Wizard, Ember the Human Monk or Nebin the Gnome Wizard. The heroes try to figure out Who killed the Archmage, Where the crime occurred and What magical weapon was used.

Clue + Beholders = ???
by Stephen Cromwell (5 out of 5 stars)

The original CLUE has been a favorite of mine since I was quite young.

I'm not quite young anymore, and it continues to be a wonderful game. The D&D theme is really just icing, there is no real significant alteration of the core CLUE rules we love. They have added optional "Monster Encounters" that consist of a simple die roll to determine if you get a boon, such as extra movement, or wind up in a Maze where you have a 1 in 3 chance of escaping each turn.

CLUE is still best played with 4 or more players, and still appropriate for most of the family - younger children may have some trouble with the concept. Is it worth the extra money for the D&D version? Maybe. The metal figurines and weapons are nice, but pretty cheap. The board art is functional, but not really anything special, and the monster encounters add a nice little "boon or bust" randomness. But other than that, this is still standard CLUE. If you have the original, this version may not be worth the money. Unless you're just a big D&D nerd, like myself and some of my family members. And if that's the case, I say, "Venture forth, brave adventurer!"

Good game play, broken and confusing figurines
by dragonspell (3 out of 5 stars)

I bought this game because I'm both a long time Dungeons & Dragons fan and a fan of traditional board games. This particular set is just so-so, however. There were two main problems. The first problem is the suspect figurines. There really isn't any quick easy way to make out which figurine is which character, so you end up guessing on a few of them. I'm probably going to replace them with my own, or maybe glue some name labels to their bases.

The second issue is the set arrived with three broken figurines. Two of them were characters who had a head or part of a weapon broken off, and the vorpal sword figuring was broken in half.

Otherwise, game play is like the traditional Clue, and I like the optional monster encounter rules.

I couldn't BELIEVE I found this on Amazon! Any D&D gamer would treasure this item.

Features:

Each of the metal figures represents one of the "classic" characters in the D&D Players Handbook and other publications:

Regdar the Human Fighter

Tordek the Dwarf Fighter

Lidda the Halfling Rogue

Mialee the Elf Wizard

Nebin the Gnome WIzard, &

Ember the Human Monk.

There are 6 custom weapons:

Vorpal sword, mace of disruption, ring of magic missiles, staff of power, flaming battle axe, & dagger of venom.

The rooms are:

Chamber of tricks & traps

Dungeon

Dragon's Lair

Lost Crypt

Magical Armory

Wizard's Tower

Grand Hall

Treasure Chamber, &

Library of arcane tomes.

There's even an optional rule in which you battle monsters by landing on certain spaces, earning bonuses if you defeat them (and penalties if you don't).

If you have a D&D gamer in your life, don't hesitate for one second to buy this product for a unique gift that he (or she!) will brag about to his/ her friends!

A must have for the nerd in you

Who doesnt love clue? And what awesome person doesnt love DnD?

Plays just like clue with the exception of being DnD themed (obviously) and having the chance for "monster battles." If you defeat a monster by rolling the dice right, you will get a bonus to help you figure out the murderer ahead of your comrades.

Different setting, different characters - same Clue
by Sean Planes (3 out of 5 stars)
April 2, 2014

Asides from having two "Nebin the Gnome Wizard" tokens, no "Ember the Human Monk" token and a Tordek the Dwarf token that couldn't stand up due to an uneven base - I found the game rather enjoyable.

It's the same old Clue, re-skinned with Dungeons and Dragons - tokens, cards and game board. The game play is very much the same as the previous iterations of Clue with the addition of Monster cards that players can "fight" via die roll to gain boons - such as free additional moves.

You can't really go wrong with the old Clue formula, but I do wish they had implemented something unique that ties in more with Dungeons and Dragons than just the basic Fantasy setting - some sort of twenty sided dice mechanic maybe? Combat? A role playing element?

If you're growing tired of Candlesticks, Conservatories and accusing Colonel Mustard then definitely give this game a try.

If you're looking for something deeper than a game with a D&D skin on it - maybe give this one a miss.

The kids liked it alot. Was a great family game. Arrived quickly. The board is solid and the pieces have held up well; the kids aren't easy on the small pieces.... So far nothing has been lost. Similar rules to regular clue.

Received as a new product, but some of the game pieces were cheaply made and already broken. Small weapons on game character pieces were broken off, such as Torek's axe. There is bubbling on the game board where there was obviously grit or sand between the board and glued overlay. We enjoy the game overall and found it to be more entertaining than classic Clue, but we wish there had been more quality control with board and pieces.

So just from that I wouldn't recommend buying this game

When I received this game the dwarfs axe was broken off. I think I read another review saying the same thing. So just from that I wouldn't recommend buying this game. It's not a bad game overall but the names are hard to remember if your not already a big D&D fan. One really cool thing was the option to battle random monsters in the castle that give you potions that make you faster and so forth. Amazon was awesome about free return shipping and a quick refund no questions asked =]

Fun for all

The figurine pieces are a bit small and people had trouble determining what their piece was and where it was on the board. Other than that this game was a ton of fun. If you love D&D and Clue then this is a must, and it is very easy to play with people who aren't familiar with either game.
