A quicker, faster, easier way to cook your pasta.
by Anne (5 out of 5 stars)

I was very impressed that this could really do what it said in such little water. I've used it several times already. Pasta is done in less than 10 minutes and I don't have to tote a gallon plus of hot water 5 feet across from my kitchen stove to the sink to drain it. I've done ravioli, fusilli and penne. All turned out well. As the directions say, it takes a bit to learn the amount of time needed for one's own microwave. But was easy to work it through. I was so impressed with this product that I've since purchased the rice/grains cooker, but not used it yet.

My newest travel must have
by A (5 out of 5 stars)

I recently went on a trip that required me to stray from my normal diet, which consists of a restricted food list due to allergies. I was unsure if I'd be able to eat out at all meals, so I bought this along with the rice/grain cooker since I knew I'd have access to a microwave and brought along some packages of rice noodles. I must say, this was the best decision I made for myself on that trip, as it was the quickest, easiest, and mess-free way to make meal without any hassle. The cooking times varied depending on the microwaves I've used, but in general it takes about 10-12 minutes to cook the noodles fully. The only thing I would caution about is making sure that you pour enough water to cover the noodles entirely, as I the first time I was conservative with the liquid and the top few noodles actually burned. But other than that one small hiccup (which was my mistake) this worked as promised. I will definitely be bringing this on future trips.

One last thing: although I used this while traveling, I think this would be great for someone in a dorm or small living situation where kitchen space and tools are limited.

Can't Live Without It
by J. Cupas (5 out of 5 stars)

I have found this to be revolutionary. It is time saving in that there's no waiting for a big pot of water to boil. It's perfect for serving one or two people (but not more than that). It was a bit tricky in the beginning ... wondering how much pasta and how much water to use ... and how long to cook it. But it didn't take too many tries to get it right (and it was definitely worth the initial angst).

Here's what worked for me (1500 watt microwave): place any kind of pasta in the bottom, add water to cover by about 3/4 - 1 inch. Attach the lid. Heat on FULL POWER until the water boils. Then reduce power to 80% ... and boil according to timing on pasta box/bag. For us (two people), it takes 8 minutes to boil ... and then about 8 minutes to cook most pastas.

Note: When the pasta is boiling at 80%, the boil stops and starts, stops and starts. You think it's going to boil over! But it doesn't.

Note: The directions that accompany this wondrous item are ALL for an 800 watt microwave. It will take some minimal math skills (ha ha) to convert/manipulate the timing.

Works, but terribly awkward in overhead micro
by T. Benedict (1 out of 5 stars)

No handles, nothing secure to hold onto, floppy silicone lid with large holes. When taking it from overhead microwave, it's really easy to tip it slightly and get burned with boiling water. And there's really no good way to pour to drain it, either - you need mitts or towel, and if you slosh over and they get wet, the hot water burns. And you need to drain into colander. The holes in lid seem ornamental, not functional, unless they are steam vents, but useless for draining thru. Sorry I bought it. (I used to use it in a countertop micro, so the tipping wasn't an issue, but it was still hard to handle and drain. I would have given it 2-3 stars then.)

TAKE OFF LID AND TURN OVER TO STRAIN! This thing is great. Other bad reviews due to failure to read
by lisajill (5 out of 5 stars)

It is great. For the people who think the cover doesn't strain right TAKE IT OFF AND TURN IT OVER to strain and it fits snugly. If you drain as-is, the lid will fall off or you will burn yourself. Therefore, the bad reviews are from those who didn't read the instructions.

I really wanted to like this. My son loves pasta which I cook ...

I really wanted to like this. My son loves pasta which I cook in the microwave. To keep it from boiling over I have to stop it frequently and stir it. I thought this product would make the process a bit more hands off.

With the Lekue's top dam/reservoir, it's a wonderful idea to allow boil over, contain it and allow it to seep back into the container. The problem is, the shape of the container that the lid goes around, it's not a tight fit and allows for some of the the boil over to seep through the gap between the lid and the container. If they could remedy that, this would be a really excellent product.

Also of interest, for dishwasher cleaning there are cavities from the product molding which allows for water build up. When you take it out of the dishwasher, water spills out of those cavities.

Fabulous!

My husband and I have been looking for a way to cook pasta in the microwave oven! We have been frustrated with waiting for water to boil in the pot, especially when we are hungry or pressed for time. This pasta cooker works well. Just make sure to put enough water in as a lot of it will be absorbed by the pasta.

Tired of getting burned when using this
by FrancisXavier (1 out of 5 stars)

It has it's own colander built in which becomes too pliable to use to drain your pasta. If you do so you get burned with boiling water and end up dropping the pasta. In other words, container is often hot and requires hot pads to remove it from microwave; silicone cover/colander is slippery so holding the hot container and keeping the cover on while draining the boiling water is an experience you must be careful with from start to finish. Washes well in dish washer, however there is a lip on the bottom of the cooker that ends up with water in it so be sure to drain it before taking it out of dishwasher or you'll have water on the floor. I am returning to pans on the stove for making my pastas. I have other things from this company like the rice cooker which is smaller and easier to manage and I don't have the problems with that one I do with this.

Easy-peasy-perfect ! ! !
by PHOEBE HOPPER (5 out of 5 stars)

I LOVE PASTA, but I don't have it very often (calories/gluten, etc) -- when I do, I fuss over it to make certain it's not over-cooked or under-done.

I add bay leaves to the water and sometimes fennel seeds -- no salt, no olive oil, just love. Superb might be a bit over the top, but, following the simple directions, I ventured one portion of my delicious $8 a pound Italian pasta (from Amazon) to try out this odd-looking cooker -- and IT WORKED!!! In just 8 minutes, as recommended by multi-lingual folder in the box, my precious pasta was DONE TO PERFECTION!

This thing is a life saver. I come home ...
by Joguyen (4 out of 5 stars)

This thing is a life saver. I come home late for work sometimes and can just throw it in the microwave. A tip before pouring the hot water out is to run some cold water into it because when you pour the water out it is hot and may get on your hand. I wish the lid was tighter when pouring the hot water out.
