Product Description

The only redeeming qualities of being on an airplane are that I can guiltlessly spend 3 to 9 hours doing nothing but eating, getting drunk, and watching full seasons of Battlestar Galactica. However, this is also problematic... [Read more]

Why didnt I think of this?

This thing is great. I got sick of holding my phone while watching movies, and have always hated having to look down at my tray table to watch a movie. This brings the phone up to eye level for easy viewing. It does not fit all phones, but will fit most with some determination. For example, I have an iPhone 6 Plus. It does not fit in this holder under normal circumstances. I carry an external backup battery and when this is placed behind the phone, the arms are able to hold the phone fine. Its well worth the MacGyvering to make it work with whatever phone you have. Beware: This will not work in some seats (If you sit in a bulkhead seat, and some exit rows that dont have tray tables). Some flight attendants wont let you use it in an exit row, which is somewhat understandable.

Awesome idea well worth the cost.

Had issues on the newer United embraer planes that had a wider Seatback turning lock. But the mount still had enough give that it was fully functional!

Worked perfectly on amtrak trains both single and double deck, and all Delta flights.

You better be prepared to be the new cool kid. Each flight I had all the flight attendants stopping me to ask what it was and how it worked. I'm pretty sure they were sold after my easy demo!

So my last idea for this is great. I had a spare suction cup with a ball. The ball on mine was just a hair to big to fit into this. If that cup would have fit I would be elated. Because then on bus trips I could just use the tablet holding part and attach it to a window or flat surface!

Great device, cured my neck strain on flights
by BK_Review (5 out of 5 stars)

This is one of those "I wish I thought of that" type of devices. I seems so simple in the idea of it, but when you unbox the mount you can tell the execution was pretty complex and well-designed.

Every time I've flown in recent history I've gotten a killer neck-ache from looking down at my iPhone or iPad mini. I was thinking of trying to figure out a string or wire system myself to hang the ipad from the back of the seat in front of me. It just never seemed like it would work very well.

A good friend then told me about the SkyView mount. This device is perfect. It mounts on the tray table latch (I used mine on Southwest). It has a small wire at the top which hangs on the top of the latch, and a pincher with foam pads on the bottom to firmly attach the mount in place. My iPad Mini and Iphone worked great. My special lady friend was also able to use her kindle with the mount I bought for her.

The best thing is that it makes the flight so much more comfortable, and time passes much faster when you're not trying to rub your aching neck from watching videos all flight.

I say this is a definite must have for all travelers. This holiday season I definitely will buy a few as stocking stuffers. Great stuff, kudos to Griffin for such an novel, but elegant device.

This thing goes with me onboard the plane

While you're sitting developing claustrophobia in a coach seat, just begging for a few more square inches of space, along comes this nifty device to elevate your iPad-mini or iPhone up off the tray table. I've used this on several trips and every time was glad I discovered this thing. It takes a little figuring out before you may be satisfied with it but satisfied you should be when you can view the screen chest level- hands-free- and a small measure of comfort is found.

No more neck cramps
by Andrew Cutler (5 out of 5 stars)

I like to watch movies on longer flights, but looking down at a screen for a few hours can cause some serious neck cramps. This puts my 8" tablet right at eye level and hangs/clamps from the tray tab. It doesn't seem to be super sturdy, but has yet to fail.

Did not work for me.

Sent it back. I was looking for something that could hold my kids iPads and this would not (too small). I guess it works on the iPad mini but not the full sized ones.

Wish they made something like this for a full sized Ipad. Works great for the iphone and ipad mini. Received lots of positive comments from others on the plane about this gadget.

A good product!

We just got back from a trip to Hawaii. The flight back had no seatback video, so thank goodness I had bought these. My wife spent 5 1/2 hours reading from her iPad mini at eye level due to this. I always get a headache on a flight because of the angle I have to keep my head at and thanks to this keeping my iPhone set properly I was headache free. Seeing how well it worked for the mini I'm going to buy a mini for travel. It will not work with a full sized iPad...too bad.

This is a good product, I'm glad I got it!

Helps improve comfort of flights - NOT for Large iPad or Large Kindle Fire (less than 7-ish inches s
by kinoandhermes (4 out of 5 stars)

I purchased this item months ago but only used it recently for a trip (used Dec 2014).

I just purchased a second one to give as a gift for my brother (who hates flying) - and had recommended it for a friend (who bought it, used it and liked it).

I used it for my Kindle Fire HDX 7 in.

Pros:

Seems sturdy and well made

Holds a cell phone or iPad Mini or Kindle or Kindle Fire 7 in pretty well.

Held my Kindle Fire HDX 7 in pretty well (like a screen in front of your face) - and saved my neck and head from hurting. On the flight prior to buying the Skyview Travel Seatback Mount, my neck and head hurt after staring at my Kindle Fire HDX 7 in, placed on my tray table, for 3+ hours.

Helps free up the tray table for food/drinks.

In my opinion - it did not really block the action on the screen. But I was using my Kindle Fire HDX 7 in and not a phone. It may impact a small phone screen more, but I don't use my phone for watching movies/videos.

Cons:

Comes with NO instructions or even a diagram of how the product should be put together. Easy enough to figure out but... a labeled diagram at least of the 2 pieces may help...

Holds an iPad Mini or Kindle or Kindle Fire 7 in - NOT for a full size (large) iPad or full size (more than 7 in) Kindle Fire.
7-ish inches seems to be the largest it will hold.

I think that my ball connection was a bit loose so my Kindle Fire HDX 7 in would slip down slightly, but I just pushed it up such that the screen was facing up a bit/tilted up a bit (instead of straight on, like a screen) and it was fine. Still better than staring down at a screen on a tray table.

Definitely helped improve the comfort of my flight (in addition to compression socks and noise cancelling headphones).

I would buy this product again. In fact, I recommended it to a friend (who bought it, used it and liked it too) & I just bought one as a gift for my brother.
