Excellent choice for a carry-on!by Eric Ohlson (5 out of 5 stars)

I purchased this bag just before two back-to-back multi-day business trips. I'm generally a fan of 5.11 gear - everything else I have from them is well made and functional - and the Overwatch bag didn't disappoint.
The quality of materials and construction is excellent, as you would expect from 5.11. If you're not familiar with 5.11, suffice to say that you won't have any concerns about quality with this product.
From a functionality an ergonomics standpoint, you'll appreciate this bag. Prior to using this bag I never used a carry-on on business trips because I needed a bag that I could fit a garment bag into. With this bag I was able to bring a suit jacket, two dress pants, two dress shirts, and two polo shirts in the garment bag section, and still have plenty of room in the "bag" portion once it was rolled up for dress shoes, a spare pair of jeans, socks, underwear, and toiletries.
Even with all that, once the bag was over my shoulder the ergonomics were so good I hardly noticed. If you're used to trying to maneuver a heavy duffel bag through an airport and airplane, then you know how annoying that can be. The Overwatch fit nicely over a shoulder or slung across my back, and was very easy to get down the aisle of an airplane.
My only tiny quibble would be that once you're at the hotel, you have to unpack all your loose clothing before you can get to your garments to hang them. It's not a big deal, and it's easily solved by putting those items into a separate cheap/thin/light bag or two that you can pull out from the Overwatch at your destination.
Great bag, and I'm happy with my purchase.
It is the perfect "go bag" for me

This bag: Wow. Just Wow.
It is the perfect "go bag" for me. I have a suit in the garment section, roll up, zip up and then use the inside as a duffel for my jeans and T's. The side pickets are great for the odds and ends I carry and the straps are sturdy.
It fits in all airline overhead bins, It fits in my trunk. It fits in bus bins.
Cleaning it is pretty easy and for the most part a quick wipe with a sponge takes care of most general use accumulated dust.
Its distinctive look makes it easy to grab out of the pile of bags when we all travel.

Got this bag on a whim also. Wanted a bag I could roll up nice clothes in en-route to a more formal setting while riding my bike. Haven't had a chance to use it but like the way it separates clothing items and has storage on the ends.

Fantastic. You can get 2 to 3 pairs of pants 5 to 6 shirts and one jacket in here, and you still have room for running shoes and a shave bag. I wish it had a backpack strap, but I like this bag and would recommend it again

I really wanted to like this overwatch bag, but I think it falls short. When you buy a bag, you should not have to modify it so it can be used as advertised. Read some of the reviews here and you will see that some people had to do that.
I purchased this bag because I thought it would be a cool garment bag. 5.11 have good quality bags and I like all things tactical. The quality of the bag is good, but that is not the issue.
To say this bag can be used as a shooting platform is pretty lame. A car cover or a moo moo could be used too but would you use them? It seems this was added as a marketing tool. If you watch the video advertisement for this bag, you will see why the whole concept is comical. I did not purchase it for a shooting platform so I overlooked this detail.
Let's focus on the garment bag. Once the bag is totally unzipped you can access the garment portion of the bag. Placing your clothing in this portion requires you to hang them on a flimsy piece of nylon webbing, then cinch it tight. Then you can secure your garments with two straps inside the garment portion. Now the fun begins. If you have items in the large side pockets get ready to wrestle with the bag. It's an annoying task to roll this thing up as you zip it back into a duffle bag. Once rolled up, you will notice something poking through the material of the bag, it's the hangers. This not only looks odd but creates a wear point. Over time I could see the metal of the hanger wearing through.
Once it's rolled up into the duffle configuration there is a lot of room inside, but keeping your clothing in the garment bag from wrinkling over a long trip may be challenging.
Reversing the process is equally annoying. With the side pockets full, getting to the garment bag requires yet another bout of bag vs. Human. Unless you remember to unload the side pockets first which was recommended by another product reviewer, you will not be happy.
I have used the bag twice to transport uniforms to work so I have not taken it for a long trip and sadly, I probably won't.
If you're looking for a garment bag, look elsewhere. There are much better duffle bags availiable and if you need a real shooting platform pass this by.
I plan on putting my overwatch bag up for sale on ebay and purchasing something else. Sorry 5.11, many of your products are winners, not this time.
A solid, well-built travel garment bag/duffel

I got this bag on special at about a third of the price. It is a high-quality, heavy duty bag with very heavily reinforced stitching and handles. It has an garment area for rolling jackets on hangers or suits although too short for slacks or dresses without folding them first (Use dry cleaner hangers to save space). This area is separated from the main duffel area. I like the shoulder strap padding and the handle padding - Very comfortable. However the should strap buckles get in the way of unzipping the bag.
I like the molle/micro velcro side pockets because I use molle and velcro accessory pouches. If you don't they are very slim and will not be in your way. In my unboxing video I missed the front zippered pocket but it is a generous 10x6" and plenty roomy for phone, keys, boarding passes, plane tickets and more. This is one solid bag!

It seems the bag was discontinued which is very sad because as long as it isn't stuffed as tight as possible, it easily carries onto most every airline as a carry-on bag, and holds tons of clothes. My only critique is that to get to your garment bag, you have to unzip/unpack everything in the main compartment of the bag to gain access, so plan to pack/unpack, pack/unpack that center area a lot.
Great Bag

I bought the 5.11 Overwatch bag about 4 months ago for a third of the posted price, spent a little over $50. I have become a huge fan of 5.11 products over the past 2 years and this bag does not disappoint. For the past three months I have been using this bag as my weekly overnight bag at my local ambulance garage and I have been using it as a travel bag since I got it. Ill go over the details of the bag section by section. Just to give you an idea my normal load-out is
End Pockets) change of clothes, full set of toiletries, deck of cards, hand towel, pens/pencils, 6" Israeli bandage, SOF tourniquet, the bags shoulder strap, Altoids can filled with general meds, AA Maglite, and the pockets still have more room.
Front Pocket) usually just pens and pencils but can be used for lots more.
Main Pocket) a rectangular 50 degree sleeping bag compressed into about a 9" diameter, 12" long bundle, the 5.11 2-banger-bag fully stocked with my medical gear, reflective jacket, pillow, computer cable, and spare socks. This pocket is usually full because of the pillow and jacket.
Overall bag - The bag is very solidly constructed. The material is quite durable and seems to be water resistant enough to bring through a brief rain. I have not extensively tested the water resistance though. The handle is very sturdy and has no problems. The buckles are quite robust and my only advice is for you to know that the "compression" straps don't work as compression for the bag but rather as compression for any jacket or material you decide to put On the bag instead of in it. However, these straps are almost big enough to compress another one of these bags if it was moderately filled. The pockets are all sturdy and will be gone deeper into detail below. The shoulder strap is very comfortable and is contoured to fit on the shoulder without hurting the neck. I am able to carry about 30lbs very comfortably.
The zippers are very heavy duty and I believe that they are YKK. The toggles are also more than up to snuff.
Front Pocket - like other members have said, this pocket is quite roomy for a front pocket and also has a small elastic loop on one end that I use to keep the zipper "locked" into place. The dimensions are about 10" by 6".
Side Pockets - one pocket is a usual admin pocket, the other functions as more of a dump pocket. The admin pocket has pens/pencils slots which I use for a flashlight and pens, a business card pocket, 3x5 card pocket and a zipper pocket along with a little clip for keys or something. The other pocket has two AR mag style pockets with another sipper pocket. The Mag pouches have elastic along the upper lip to help secure anything you decide to put in there. Both pockets are the 10"x10" that the bag is and about 2-3" deep.
Main Pocket- this pocket is wonderful. The inside ends have laser cut MOLLE which isn't as tough as standard outside-of-backpack type MOLLE but when you think about it you don't really need the same material because its not under the same stress. I don't put anything on this MOLLE but it's the full 10x10 if you have a want to use a lot of MOLLE. See above for all the stuff that I can fit in.
Garment Bag - the only complaint some people have about this is that when you put normal hangers in and zip the bag up the hangers stop the normal zippered closure and that the hanger space shouldn't be a strap on nylon. Personally I don't care wither way. I use a carabineer for helping with normal hangers but the bag is really made for travel hangers which don't poke up above the end of the bag. I have used the garment for moving button up shirts from place to place but I don't use hangers. There are three holding straps for any shirts and pants you place in here. The only thing to be aware of is that the more garments you place in the garment section the smaller the inside of the main compartment becomes.
Shooters Mat - I do not use this bag as a shooters mat so I cannot attest to this capability.
Price - I bought this bag at just over $50. I thought at that price this bag was a steal. I'm not sure I would pay $150 for another one though.
Overall this bag is phenomenal for traveling or an overnight bag, go-bag etc. I would highly recommend this bag to anyone.
