The Flake is strong with this one
by Brain Grenades (4 out of 5 stars)

The Flake is strong with this sun shade. I don't live anywhere extremely hot so I was surprised how, within a matter of months, this shade began to deteriorate. Yes you will be the envy of your nerdy friends and receive cool points from all strangers within proximity when displayed but beware...once this starts coming apart there's not stopping it. Mine started flaking within about 5 months after purchase and made such a huge mess in my car I just ended up dumping it. I'm tempted to buy another one but the quality leaves much to be desired. If you want high fives from all nerds around then go with this. If you want a sun shade that's going to last then you're better off with an obligatory silver accordion.

Not lasting long under the sun

Lasted less than 4 months (started using this only this summer) before fading to white and flaking apart like fish scales. See picture... very unhappy

Holy crapola I hate this thing
by Rod O. (1 out of 5 stars)

It was awesome for like a month. Then the graphic started crumbling and flaking all over my vehicles. Yes, vehicles - I bought two, one for each vehicle and both did this. One I had in my off-road toy so it was up in the windshield all day, the other I had folded up in my backseat so it was the same result whether or not is was unfolded in the sun, or folded in the backseat. I was taking the one in the truck down and as soon as I pulled it down, it flaked all over the place. It was like someone took a bag of glitter, enlarged the pieces, and threw them all over my interior. I thought it was bc it was maybe the sun just baked the crap out of it so later I went and grabbed the one that was folded up in my backseat of my other car. As soon as I picked it up, it started flaking all over too. This happened roughly a month and a half after purchase.

Better than expected!
by Catkeeper88 (5 out of 5 stars)

I am a huge Star Wars fan but more so a Han Solo fan and when I saw this I was so excited. I was expecting it to be cardboard so I was a little worried that it would fade quickly in the sun but to my surprise it is plastic like a regular accordion style window shade and seems to be of good quality. It fits my Honda Accord windshield perfectly and can stretch out more for a wider windshield if needed. I got it in two days and it was shipped well in a large cardboard box with paper stuffing. I am debating on buying a second one as a back up just in case something happens to this one. I love it so much! If you love Star Wars, you will love this.

UPDATE: 9/10/13

I've since switched cars and now have an 08 Mustang and this fits it as well. It has faded quite a bit. I didn't realize how much until I saw an old picture of it. The picture is still visible but the colors have faded and now the whole thing is different shades of blue. I live in Texas and my car is always parked in the sun and most days the temperature has been over 100 degrees so just fyi if you live somewhere with harsh sunlight and your car is always in the sun this will fade. I still love it just wish it hadn't of faded so quickly.

Let it first be known that I loved this cover
by Kearstyn (3 out of 5 stars)

Let it first be known that I loved this cover. It fit the car window-shield perfectly and I was always quite excited to see these familiar faces staring back at me as I tried to locate my car within a sea of cars. It always folded and unfolded easily and neatly and fit conveniently in whatever corner of the car I stashed it in.

The reason for the 3 stars is that it fell about so quickly. I don't know if it got old fast or simply melted, but the shade soon lost its integrity, its stability, and its color. The picture actually started to peel and left flakes or my favorite characters all over my seats. I had to retire the shade in favor of one of the nylon pop up covers. Thank goodness they make those with the same picture!

Fun product but not good quality
by Just Bill (3 out of 5 stars)

Was really excited for this product and people love seeing it in my window, BUT it is not made particularly well. The material flakes apart and they get all over your dashboard. Also, it's a one size fits most kinda deal. It doesn't quite fit well in my Prius but I can make it work. The main problem is that the item is so thin and cheap that when it sits in the sun and warms up it looses its stiffness and falls down. Overall it can get the job done but just know this isn't a long term investment. Luckily I've noticed the price dropped a lot since I purchased it, which makes more sense given the so-so quality.

Photos show the flaked off white spots along the top as well as how it falls down after being in the sun for an hour and loosing stiffness.

I Hate to Review this Product so Low!
by Pakmann2k (3 out of 5 stars)

Being a Star Wars fan, I was happier than a pig in mud when I bought this. I threw it in my Charger and immediately posted pics online. That was last week and unfortunately, not the same story this week.

The photo seems to be fading although I have only had it for just over a week but my main concern is that it might be melting. I live in Arizona and these past weeks we have been averaging highs of 105-110. This shade is very dark on the outside and it is sitting in my Black Charger with Black interior. When I go to remove it in the afternoon, it is almost soft to the touch. When you go to fold it up, it feels limp, like I should be rolling it instead of folding it. It has the consistency of NY style pizza, sloppy and floppy.

I really wanted to love this product but I am afraid I can't at this point. I will use it until it falls apart but having bought this in June in Az, I plan to photgraph the remains of what is left when we hit August.

This IS the sunshade you are looking for :-)
by fataddy (4 out of 5 stars)

In person it's not as obvious all the time, keep in mind this is an accordion sunshade so when you "unfold" it, it will still have folds and skew the image. If you look at it for a few seconds though you can see what it is, and then it looks cool. I'm in Southern California which right now is like the face of the sun and it is really helping a lot, my car doesnt have any window tinting and this does the trick! Very pleased, but I had to take a star away because the company forgot to ship this with something else I'd ordered from them and I had to go through a whole rigmarole with USPS when THEY should have been taking care of the issue themselves, especially since it turned out that they'd just forgotten to ship this. Annoyed, but pleased :-)

Good while it lasted
by A.M.X.C. (2 out of 5 stars)

I bought this some time ago, and after reading some reviews, decided not to review it until after I had had it for a season or so. I only park in the sun occasionally, so I was not using this everyday, and indeed it sat in the back of my car for much of the fall. However, that has had little impact on the "deterioration" factor that seems inherent to these things. When I took it out of the car the other day, it was a shower of little round bits, as the "printed" layer seems to have separated and broken down, flaking off predominantly along the edges. It is not faded, so it makes me wonder if perhaps temperature was what messed it up more than the sun.

I did enjoy the product, and it lasted a rather long time considering it's reputation. If you like Star Wars, and are aware it's not exactly built to last, I can still recommend this for you. If you're looking for a "permanent" addition to your collection though, this might not be for you.

Holds up for years.
by Brook (5 out of 5 stars)
June 23, 2018

So, we've had this for 3 years now, used for the same car. We get some pretty hot summers (up to 100 degrees F or more) and it can get even hotter in the car. Our windows are NOT tinted so I love having a sun shade. This sun shade definitely helps the front seat not be so scalding hot when we return.

I don't use it every day. My car is parked in my garage most of the time, but during the summer I use the shade at least 3 times a week. I have not experienced any flaking or peeling from it. The only thing that has shown wear is the elastic bands are a bit stretched out. It's not a big deal to me though.

Maybe if you are planning on parking your car on the road day after day with this sun shade out, you'd wear it out faster.

Overall: great value and awesome geeky car accessory. Punch it!
