Auto off does not work on some of these. DANGEROUS!by Talktojerm (1 out of 5 stars)

I saw a couple of reviews that said that the kettle did not shut off by itself. I looked at the date of the reviews (that I saw) and they were at least a year old, so I figured that they had a problem with the switch a year ago, but surely they fixed it by now, (Dec 2017). When I received the product I tested it and it seemed to work fine, it shut off all by itself, Cool! We were planning on moving right after the holidays, so I put it in the garage with the other stuff I purchased for the new house. The first morning in the new house, I fired up the kettle, started my morning routine, make sure everyone is up and getting ready for school etc, and when I came back to the kitchen this thing was at a full rolling boil, pumping out steam like a chain smoker that just got off a 12 hour flight! Even the plastic handle was hot to the touch! The underside of my cabinets were absolutely dripping with water over an area about 4 feet wide. I feel very strongly that this item is dangerous and I just wanted to let people know.. I will update if I hear anything back from the warranty department.
Up In A Firey Blaze!!!

Product worked great until it caught on blazing fire while in the off position.. Shooting flames that kept reigniting, even after it was unplugged.. And no, I wasn't heating it on the burner, that's where the fireman dumped the heap..
Best kettle for under $50

This kettle is fantastic; my peers and I treat it terribly and I am very impressed with the way it has held up. It is very consistent, quick, and pretty to look at. The switch feels very sturdy. My one gripe is that it has begun to rust on the top of the handle, but that is because condensation forms there and no one wipes it off. I did my research and kept on coming back to this kettle, so if you have too, then go ahead and buy it.
Pretty but doesn't hold up with daily use.

First of all I have owned this kettle for about a year and half and have used it daily. After about 8 months the light stopped working. I was bummed but the kettle still worked. Well last week it started leaking on the bottom and we finally tossed it. It's really pretty when you first get it but it won't last.
Very Dissatisfied

The kettle did not turn off by itself. The steam from the unit damaged my upper cabinets and left moisture on the wall and ceiling. I called customer support they said it wasn't closed properly. I used it again and pushed the lid closed it still did not turn off. The base is very light weight. I would not recommend this product. I was very dissatisfied with warranty department. I have ordered another unit and the warranty will only supply me with a new one, which I don't want, and will not refund my money. This happened within 1 week of purchase.
Bad quality and Worse warranty policy

Broken after 6 months' use. Warranty policy is just complicated & expensive. Will never buy.

Great kettle!

This kettle is wonderful! Quick to heat water and the blue light displayed while heating the water is a nice touch. This kettle gets used daily several times with no issues after two months since purchased. Quick tips - as other reviewers noted, the bottom of the kettle develops scale after several uses. With water filled to about the half way mark, I added 3 - 4 "glugs" of white vinegar and turned it on. When the kettle completed the heating cycle, 95% of the scaling was gone. A quick rinse out and it was ready to go again, no scrubbing involved. The last tip is that like other reviewers noted, my kettle also continued to boil water without stopping with the automatic shut off. The problem wasn't the kettle for me. When closing the lid occasionally, the lid made a clear clicking noise, and seemed sealed. It wasn't. Now I make sure the lid is down all the way and the issue has stopped. I really enjoy this kettle and couldn't be happier with it.
Dangerous and horrible product. The stainless steel version is way better.

Horrible product. I am not sure if it's just the glass one that is defective because I have the stainless steel version and I never had issues with it. First thing, after one use I already had the white floaty mineral pieces floating around. Another dangerous issue is that the button doesn't stop once the water is boiled. I came back from work and the button was STILL working and boiling water. Almost all the water was evaporated. This could have had a very different and unfortunate outcome.
Practical and Pretty

Love it! I've been using this kettle daily for months. Auto-shut-off feature works reliably at all water levels, from min to max. Blue lights glow while kettle heats water and while water briefly boils. Lights go off when kettle shuts off automatically, or when I choose to shut kettle off early.
Pretty lights are a fun aspect of the see-through design. Note also that the kettle itself lifts easily off its base and can be carried to sink or table for filling and for pouring. Power cord is not attached to kettle, but rather to a separate small base unit that creates the heating effect.
One slight drawback is a spout shape not optimal for fast pouring. This is the case for many other teapots and pitchers too. So I pour slowly to prevent dripping. Another tip is to plug the base into a circuit not shared by another fast-power-draw item, such as a microwave oven.
I use this pretty kettle to heat water for pouring into cups and into pitchers. Unlike using a stove, there's no hot burner or base to avoid after the pot has boiled. I much prefer this stand-alone method of making instant or filter-drip coffee, and hot or iced tea, by the cup or pitcherful.
Rust spots on the top and heating element. Broken electical wire. Swollen and broken sealant

This item was purchased on 11/20/2016. We use it to boil water once or twice a day for about 3 months and it already has rust on top and bottom, broken electrical wire and swollen and broken sealant. Very disappointed. Not recommend it. Could rate 0 star if possible.
