Daughter Loved It

The design is one of the most stable of the LEGO LOTR sets measuring in at 28" high. There were one or two places in the instructions that were a little hard to read due to the very dark and low contrast printing. My 9 year old daughter pretty much assembled it herself. She takes the Ent just about everywhere. The entire back side of the Tower is open to access for make believe and role play. My daughter loved the red LED light brick which lights up a green plastic ball. We didn't like the ball as much as the parts that come with the LEGO LOTR The Wizard Battle - which my daughter already had, so she swapped it. In the end, however, she found the light up brick to be so much fun that she incorporated it into her own creations.
Lego: Tower of Orthanc

This set is great for those who are above the age of 12-14, only because some of the stickers, and parts of the build can be a little frustrating to a younger buyer. Also, for the price point, I don't see very many kids buying this set at 200 dollars. So here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
-Awesome set, could not say better things about it
-Iconic landmark of Middle-Earth
-Fun Build
-Cool interior set pieces, you can tell they put a lot of time into the details
-An Exclusive Robe piece for Saruman, though it also comes with legs
-An Ent! You get an actual Ent in this set which is a fun little add-on
-Also, you get an Eagle in this set, so that you can recreate Gandalf's rescuing
-I could go on and on, but I think you get it, this set is great
-Unique build, and some unique pieces to this set
Cons:
-Price point, I would say 150 would be a better price, but this is an iconic set, and they can charge more
-The stickers, oh god, even as an adult, I can't stand the stickers, though I suppose it's down to personal preference on this one
-Some parts of the build are a bit repetitive, but that is with almost any big build
-ALL THE BLACK BRICKS, I realize it's necessary for this set, at the same time, it gets to you
So, that wraps up the pros and cons, to wrap the review up, this set is great, though pricey, it is worth the money. I wouldn't recommend this set to the kids, there are far better sets out there for their age group. This set comes with 4 minifigs, Saruman, Gandalf the Grey, an Orc, and an Uruk-Hai. It comes with an eagle and an Ent. Great build, and well worth it for the adult fans of Lego.
This was the BEST LEGO SET EVER

This was the BEST LEGO SET EVER!!! Had so much fun building it. It took me a couple of days working on it while watching TV and running errands. The detail is incredible. Yes, the outside is all black, but the pieces on the inside more than make up for the lack of color. The outside black is very shiny and looks so intense. You will not regret this purchase!!
No missing pieces (only extras), directions were very clear.
Absolutely the BEST LEGO set I have ever owned!

If you love Lord of the Rings/Hobbit and LEGOs, then this is a must have. I built this with my 5 yr old son and we had such a good time building it. This thing is massively large and there is a lot to build. I wouldn't say it's super challenging, but it does require attention to detail for sure, because there is a LOT of details in this set. I had looked at the box many times looking at all the cool features and still noticed new things when I built it. It's big and heavy, but LEGO sturdy for sure. It was such a blast to build and it now sits next to me in my office at work. If you're even remotely hesitant, get it.

Maybe the most impressive looking build I've done so far. A little expensive, since it is a discontinued item, but still fantastic.

This is a nice lego set with a lot of detail. Unfortunately the box was in poor condition and it appears to have been previously opened. Presentation is important especially when you are spending this much for plastic blocks.
Perfection.

I love legos, but above all, I love how the instructions are laid out. This also looks so badass.

I really love Lego. I have a lot of sets. In this case I received an open box and three bags were missing. LEGO Group send me the bags to my country for free. Amazon didn't help me. (I must send the box back paying from my wallet and the refund me just the original cost). At the end I was happy.

This is a phenomenal set! My 16+ year old has wanted it for about 3 years now. I finally broke down and paid the crazy price (all LEGO sets are crazy priced for this mom of 3). He started after all the Christmas falderall and finished about 5 hours later. It is really cool. Just wish it took a bit longer to build for the price.
