Simple Shower - Portable Camping Shower - Water Bottle Attachment

The Simple Shower is a specially designed portable shower that attaches to just about any one or two liter bottle to convert them into a shower. No longer will you have to lift a solar shower filled with 20 or 40 pounds of water above your head to take a shower while camping - simply fill a plastic 1 or 2 liter bottle with warm water, or leave the bottle in the sun to heat up, and attach the Simple Shower for a quick and easy shower. It also fits Platypus collapsible bottles and bladders. At only 2 ounces, it's ideal for backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, hunting, camping, emergencies, cleaning pets, washing utensils, at the beach, and anywhere else a steady stream flow shower can be used.

Please Note: Bottle not included.

Directions: Simply fill a plastic 1 or 2 liter bottle with warm water, or leave the bottle in the sun to heat up, and attach the Simple Shower for a quick and easy shower.

Perfect bottle for simple shower
by John (5 out of 5 stars)

This simple shower is a a fantastic product. I have used it with 2 liter bottles but found it a pain. So I decided to look at my nearby store and found a bottle that worked really well with the simple shower and it has a handle. It's an AJAX triple action dish soap bottle (2.66 liter). It did cost around $5 - $6. Now I don't have to tear up my arm and wrist trying to use this simple shower with those pesky 2 liter bottles. I'm gonna spray paint this bottle black so I can fill it up, leave it out in the sun for awhile, and I will have some warm water for a shower. Make sure to wrap the top of the bottle with Teflon tape (use a lot) for a good seal.

Update: 6/7/16 Finished product spray painted black

I'll always take this camping going forward. Assuming there are no real showers of course.

It sometimes takes a bit of effort to get the water flowing like a shower but it does work well once you get it going. Much better than straight from a bottle. To get truly soaped up and cleaned off I found that wetting myself with a 2 liter bottle, soaping up and then rinsing with another 2 liter bottle worked OK. For better results I had a 5 gallon bucket of water where I refilled my 2 liter bottles. So with a total of 8 liters I was able to take a real shower in the middle of a camp ground. I had a portable pop up "shower tent" so as not to scare or scar the children.

Simple to use, good flow to rinse, and very flexible. Water will stop too!

Pros Upgraded to five stars after experimenting some more. For the price, very portable and good water flow. I like it for measuring and limiting water use. I use to rinse my hair anywhere there is a place to catch the water, like a kitchen sink, a tub, or outside. When combined with wetting my hair with spray bottle with half hot and half tepid water, shampooing, then using the simple shower to rinse my hair with cold water, this method does a better job cleaning and is healthier for my hair. I have used it on a 1 and 2 liter bottle. 1 liter is easier to hold.

Cons: It is awkward to hold with one hand over my head to avoid spraying water. To be fair, so is a sink sprayer. The 1 liter bottle works best. I hold sideways until in position to rinse over tub or sink or outside. The sideways position controls the water best for me. I did some trials with 1 liter bottle both with and without the straw after reading a review from someone who said that without the straw the water won't flow until the bottle is squeezed. That person is correct. They posted pictures of it too. (Thanks to them!) The water flows a bit until it seals the hole where the straw goes in the lid, and then it wont flow until the bottle is squeezed and has a good flow. Also, I tried putting my finger over the straw hole with the straw in the lid, and that also blocks the water like a valve would.

Suggestion for manufacturer, if there would be a way to put the straw hole on the side of the lid instead of on the top center, or even on the side of the top where a finger could easily block and adjust water flow, or flow could be adjusted by turning a switch on the lid to block the straw hole or by twisting the lid to control flow, much like you would on a shower head, that would be a nice feature.

Overall: Love the portability. Happy with the purchase and invention of it.

An added bonus I didn't realize when I bought it

This ingenious contraption not only fits standard 1- and 2-liter drinking water bottles (comes with 2 different "hoses" or straws), but it ALSO fits regular-sized juice bottles. The inside of the connector has screw threads to fit drinking water bottles, but the OUTSIDE of that same connector has ribs, which will allow you to push it into the larger mouth 1.5 liter OJ (etc) bottles. We don't have drinking water bottles, but we've got plenty of juice bottles, which are more sturdy anyway and infinitely reusable.

The connection is not quite as tight, of course, but since this is designed to work with gravity instead of having to squeeze the bottle, there is almost no leakage around that seal.

Takes time, work and expense to get it to work.

Beautiful concept, but to keep the water from emptying so fast I plugged up 2/3 of the holes with superglue. Looks really ugly because the glue turns white when it dries, but now at least it is functional. I read someone's answer about why the straw, but I still don't get it, it works better eliminating the straw and its hole. So after all that investment on my part it seems like an expensive gadget for being just a cap with too many holes. If fewer holes and 1/3 the price I would buy several more. I am being nice with 3 stars to give credit for the great idea.

Would be a great product, but....

Its just ok. My main problem with it is that there are many holes in the nozzle, this means that the water empties out of a large bottle too fast. A 2 liter bottle full of water with this product offers only 20 seconds of "shower time". I love the concept, and I actually use a smaller nozzle bottle for camp dish washing. But this shower, in order to work, I would maybe have to plug up some of the holes to slow the flow, or something. I rarely use it at all because of the high flow rate, and certainly never camping.

It made it nice to not have to have a bunch of 2-liters ...

This thing worked relatively well, surprisingly. The water does come out quick, so it may take a few 2-liters full of water to do a proper hair washing shower, as long as you only pour it over you when it is time to rinse. My only complaint is that it only fit on a 2-liter, and not the 1-liters I already had. I had to go out and buy a couple 2-liters of soda and drink them before our trip. I refilled the bottles when they ran out with a 7 gallon water cube with spigot. It made it nice to not have to have a bunch of 2-liters full of water to transport to camp. Just one 7-gallon got our family of 5 through 2 days of camping with hand washing and 2 showers each. I hope this little gadget lasts for many camping trips to come.

Good product, but limited applications
by jbrianb (4 out of 5 stars)

It works as advertised and it's quite simple. I find that I can get reasonably clean with two liters of water (ladies will need more). The design and functionality is as advertised. I do, however, find that I don't carry this as much as my 2.5 liter bag solar shower because of the need for a 2-liter bottle. It's bulky, you can't squish it or pack things into it, so it's really wasted space. That said, for car camping, this thing works fine or for a backup... a quick wash up after swimming in the lake or at the beach. Still, I don't love it for camping. I don't find it all that useful for other applications. It's a good product and I will keep it, but there are showers that are better for my applications,

Pros
- Uses 2-liter (widely available) bottles.
- Pours a strong and robust stream of water. Pour gently or you'll lose too much water.
- Reasonably priced.
- No worries about it running when you aren't controlling it... you want it to stop pouring, rotate your hand.

Cons
- There are better camp showers out there.
- 2 liters is pretty low output and I can't find larger bottles that have the same threads.
- Because of the need for a bottle, this thing looks svelte, but is actually bulky when paired with a bottle.
- Has three parts... all three are necessary. Be careful about storing it. Parts can be lost. Easily.

Packable shower kit
by cas (5 out of 5 stars)

Couple this with a 2 liter Platypus flexible water bottle and you have a shower kit that folds up about the size of a paper towel roll. You could even pack 2-3 bottles for a nice long shower. Fill them with water and leave them in the sun. The shower head fits the Platypus bottle perfectly. Packs much smaller than a 2 liter soft drink hard plastic bottle.

Super convenient and has tons of uses
by Rob Gendreau (5 out of 5 stars)

This is one of those "duh, why didn't I think of that" products. Turn those ubiquitous botttles into showers. Great! No more messing with shower bags, which while I love 'em, are hard to fill (In fact I often resorted to using soda bottles to do that). Although the water coming out isn't at high pressure, the fact that you can hold it close to the areas you're rinsing makes up for that. And this has the added benefit that the water doesn't get a chance to cool as much.

Since the output is more easily managed than with higher pressure showerheads, and you don't have a hanging bag, you can use this in spots where it's tough to use other shower solutions. Like doing your head over a sink, or just your dog's feet. Or the dishes.

You can color a bottle dark to add more heat, if you wanna use solar to heat the water. Or just add a bit of water heated on your stove or by any other means.

I'd love to see some that fit nalgene bottles, or other containers, perhaps as a set. And perhaps a way to rotate the holes shut, so you can leave this on the bottle when the bottle is full.
