Product Description

Trinitite was created during a Nuclear test blast. It's a result of the intense heat melting the sand into a lightly green tinted glass. Named for the Tinitity Bomb testing in New Mexico on July 16, 1945, samples of Trinitite are extremely rare; All but a small sample of the material was buried and made illegal to remove from the site in 1952. Our Trinitite sample is enclosed in a 4" x 5" plastic box frame as shown above suitable for display. Shipping Information: We are always in compliance with Section 13 from part 40 of the NRC Nuclear Regulatory Commission rules and regulations and Postal Service regulations specified in 49 CFR 173.421 for activity limits of low level radioactive materials. Item will be shipped in accordance with Postal Service activity limits specified in Publication 52. Radioactive minerals are for educational and scientific use only.

The specimen was just in a small plastic vial, not a display box as pictured, I am not even certain it is genuine trinitite- a waste of my money

Kinda a rip off...

This came with a united nuclear certificate of authenticity which conveys to me these sellers buy 35/40$ vials of trinitite which have many pieces in a 2 dram vial, take out 1 of the 10 to 20 pieces, and sells them for 15X the price. just go to united nuclear.com and get way more for your moneys worth. it may not have the fancy display with it but im sure it'd still be less.

Got a real deal. The vendor had run out of holders so he gave me some extra trinitite instead. Very nice. Very nice pieces.

Very Disappointing
by Amazon Customer (1 out of 5 stars)
May 2, 2016

We were very excited to find this item and planned to give it as a present. However, it was incredibly disappointing. Paper insert misaligned in cheap plastic frame. Most importantly, the so-called certificate of authenticity was a photocopy without any verification. Without any verification that this item is real this item is basically a pebble in a bad plastic holder.

On the bright side, the return was processed quickly and professionally by Amazon.

Seriously?

Alright, so let's get this straight: For thirty-five bucks, you get a piece of green rock the size of your fingernail and an ungrammatical certificate explaining almost nothing. BTW, the tours are conducted by the army, not the National Park Service. Don't be a sucker; save your money.
